Lately theres been alot of people who have been trying to run from the cops in STOCK panther cars!
what do you think? can a stock or even lightly modified panther car OUT RUN the cops?

Just don't run. It's not worth it. I witnessed an accident about 20 years ago that involved a chase. Some kids stole gas and ended up running from the police. When they came to the red light I was waiting at they struck a car and lost control. There was a woman waiting at the light to walk across the intersection. The kids car spun out and ran her over. She was killed instantly. A simple theft turned into a much worse situation. Pull over and take your chances in court folks.

I have a 2011 p71, and you are right to give this advice. The p71 was not designed to win races. It was designed to pursue until the robber or whoever made a mistake. All I know is that I love my vic so much that I wouldn't trade it for a mustang. I love these cars.

Very true. It has a V8, but it's just a toned down version of the Mustang's, plus the car itself is heavier. The Crown Victoria was not made by Ford as a "full" muscle car in mind, even though it CAN be fast with the right upgrades. I used to have a 1989 model. The 5.0 Windsor sounded raw, but with only 150hp? Yeah, it's not fast at all.

You should NEVER run regardless of whatever car you have, even if it is the same model police currently or once used. It's worthless. Many idiots like to use Crown Victorias or other Panthers solely for pride and not how they're MEANT to be driven. That's why a lot are destroyed now. Against modern police, they clearly don't have the chance unless they're well upgraded and have good tires. The Explorers and especially Chargers are much quicker than the legend. But as a former owner of a 1989 LX, I absolutely hate when people put giant rims on Crown Victorias. It completely ruins the car.

As a stock 06’ p71 owner in their late twenties. I strongly agree, and also advise never run from the cops. YOU WILL NOT GET AWAY!!! You wanna f around, you WILL find out.. period. It makes me tear up to see these cars being ruined out of pride or poor decision making. I rather people remember them as part of the better times, than punks who got a wild hair up their butts. PLEASE take care of them, build them to run em on a track for all I care. But either keep it on the track, or obey traffic laws. Ford will never make them again. I get the point, and I’m not going to argue it whatsoever. You’re right! But that first example was not just some basic city cop. That was the Arkansas State Patrol, and they don’t fuck around. They have a reputation for keeping up with even some of the fastest of vehicles. I say it’s 75% about the driver behind the wheel, because you can have the fastest car in the world but if you don’t know how to drive, you aren’t going to get away. Though, again, he is right! The driveshaft is too long to handle speeds over 130mph long. Thats not the platform for high speed. A 4.6 Mustang same engine, single turbo, low 2:73 in the rear with proper tires will do 190 MPH EASILY!!!!!

:23 seconds in and i can already tell this is gonna be hilarious. Crown vic is an old workhorse. Used to have mean HP for cheap back in the day. The new edge mustangs of the late 90s and early 2000s are basically 2 door coupe crown vics. Nowadays its so outdated that its under threat from even some more modern sporty trim commuter econo boxes. Especially V6s. Basically no movie after 2005 is gonna have a crown vic as a serious police vehicle or getaway car. But respect where respect is due. Its a legend and i honestly kind of want one

I own and drive an 06 P71 limited slip trackloc with a 2v mustang air intake manifold and a k&n filter. I have raced riced out hondas and other 4 bangers with loud af exhaust and won. They are not fast at all for todays standards, but in my experience that 2V Modular V8 can do good if you push it, pedal to the medal. Now if you super charge it it's a whole other story. I got a video of chasing down a ZL1 camaro lol. Anyways great video though for a reality check.

I outran Cops dating back to 2008 and in 2018 oh and Yesterday as well in my modified Camry. I watched him do a U-turn as I drove by him and he started coming up quickly behind me. He got stuck in traffic as I got the Left turn green arrow, by the time he got in the Left turn lane traffic on the opposite side started moving. I then took back resident streets and made a bunch of Left and Right turns. The same clown that suspended my license for 30 days on the roadside, impounded my car for 14 days, and gave me a stunt driving ticket was trying to harass me again.

The moral of the story is, if you think you are unique or a one off. That the police have never encountered before. Know you have already failed before you started. Unless you have the latest greatest car off the lot with the highest power to weight ratio in class. Then you have already lost. When you decide to run. Better hope your plate is not visible or you lost. If you run better hope its a small town and not a big city or you have lost from the pure numbers game police have that outnumber you. Although I respect the American tradition and the capability very few have. Wrecking your life plus whoever's life you ruin by failing to run away. Is ultimately not worth the risk instead of talking your way through the encounter. Jokes go a long way and a positive attitude. I love 2v cars and the motor because the SN95/New Edge was my Mustang and the Vic shares its motor with 96-04 Mustang GT's. But even I know they're slow by modern standards. Hell the takeover kid in a G35 could gap you if he knows what he's doing. Modern police forces have moved on to faster platforms from the P71 so running is not advisable.

It doesn’t but that’s how it feels compared to when I first got it the car felt grounded no matter what. Guessing it’s the suspension

@DevSirio it's definitely your suspension. now narrowing down what in your suspension has gone wrong is difficult or impossible if you don't have that much experience with this kind of thing. Right off the bat I suspect some of your shocks are dead. If you ever go over a bump, you're not gonna feel much besides a heavy and disconcerting clunk. The car is also gonna feel like it just rolls as it pleases without returning to center in a predictable manner. Some of this will translate into steering feeling slow and disconnected. ESPECIALLY WHILE CORNERING But make sure your tires are still in okay condition

Checked the acceleration compared to the Caprice PPV, they say the Caprice gets to 60 MPH in 'less than six seconds', vs your Rav4 Prime at 5.7 seconds. If you can take corners as well as a cop car you're pretty much neck & neck with the Caprice PPV, but the Chargers will definitely catch you

I hate to see these cars get destroyed, But to reinforce a couple of your points. A stock P71 makes 250HP (Civilian Trimmed LX models make less,Think around 210HP) The stock Mercury Marauder makes 301 HP with the 4v 4.6. The biggest point is that these are not race cars, and they are getting old now. It’s best in my opinion, these be treated with care and respect. And above all else. Please do not run from law enforcement. Especially in a Crown Victoria.

Just dont run from cops in a stock vehicle in general if your going to do that have a car that blends in but also makes more power and make sure the plates cant be read I would say use a built lq4 6.0 vortec and a 4l80e trust me they can be very fast and very unassuming I personally did it in a 05 tahoe with the 5.3 and a 4l80e and it was making around 550 hp

I may have watched/driven a crown Vic p71 that way outperformed all of them just go in tight off-road and they have a bad time cause they have way to many safety precautions they WILL NOT keep up they slide off the road they go to fast in a straight and the cars they have just pull power from them or just crash cause no city cop will do good off-road even a 4.6 2wd expedition will out run them off road

The real problem with all Panther cars is that they are just too heavy. Even with the 351 Cleveland. I have a 85 grand marquee with a 351 bored 60 over. It is still too heavy! The frame is about 1500 to 2000 then the trans and motor. Then you will have to have a hell of a cooling system which is more weight! And honestly the body is wide. Yes I would have to give some cars a car length and half for drag racing but continues running will not be good for you nor the car. Like I said too much weight to throw around.

That's funny to myself as I've had all the ford cars from ford, the Escort, the probe, the the Taurus, the Taurus sho was so fast,I had 2 of those, one auto one stick shift and a Mustang 2002 or 2003 plus a merq grand marquis and the grand marquis is the heaviest but the SHO and probe had sport suspension that made it handle and outrun WRX and cop cars in those cars believe it or not the 4 door sho was a little less heavy but the crown vic and grand marquis 😂are kinda heavy but I think that my grand marquis could give the cops a run for their money better Than the 2002 Mustang even though the Mustang is probably faster and handles better than crown vic I would rather have a grand marquis or sho or probe as I know for sure those cars can outrun the cops no problem as I did run in the probe and got away but the probe is like 1000 pounds lighter than the crown vic but still.
