Through out the Pslam we see David asking God to destroy nations. In the days of David, they were in Holy wars, fighting against other nations to proclaim the name of God. The kingdom of God was very tangible, it was only from the direct line of Jacob. So when we are reading about David praying prayers for God to avenge him or destroy people that was according to a time where there were physical battles against those who practice darkness. But through Jesus, the one who died for the whole world now we all can partake in the feast of the saints. Now we all have the opportunity to come to the table of grace. Believe rather than Now “enemies”, we have “opportunities”. We do pray for justice and for God to rid the evil in the world but We have chances to love on the wicked and broken despite their actions in hopes that they may know the Lord and trade their lifestyle of lawlessness for a life that is abundant and free with the King of Kings. May we shine a light of grace that we too also are in need of.

As we draw closer to God, we become aware of God's holiness and increasingly sensitive to sin

Struggle to find the.God if love after being in an intense legalistic and abusive church for too many years. Glad to learn in your studies that He is our refugee, our salvation and sustainer. Much blessings to you.

Good study and I am noticing that I feel a bit like David many times and that is not necessarily bad

I suspect God had David write down his experiences and emotions so we can understand his experiences weren't all that different from ours. People who try to follow God encounter similar problems.
