I teach STEM education and today it occurred to me that I have never had low incident disability / ASD students in my classes! So I looked up how to teach appropriately to students who may have a disability. We are sensory oriented with tons of great activities. We would be such an immersive experience! I have done a poor job at communicating the value of my classes to this diverse set of students. I am hoping to make my classes more diverse and inclusive in the future. This video is a good start! I appreciate it greatly.

There are lots of ways to get ready for a career working with students who are visually impaired. You may want to consider becoming a teaching assistant. The only requirement for being a TA is a passion for working with students and an eagerness to learn new skills. Our TAs go on to become teachers, nurses, orientation and mobility specialists and more. You can learn more about becoming a Perkins TA here: www.perkins.org/get-involved/careers/become-a-teaching-assistant. You can also check out different online resources for preparing to be a teacher of students with visual impairments: www.perkinselearning.org/scout/blog/preparing-be-teacher-students-visual-impairments. Good luck!

I had to watch this for a class and could not have been more bored. The content is solid but the presentation itself was terrible. There was no reason for this video to have been so wordy or so long. This was just painful
