Thankfully, there’s a ROM hack I think of the PSP version that swaps out the new music for the original soundtrack, which is cool. Totally agree, though. Persona 2 had a better way of handling the music, imo. The PSP OST isn’t bad per se, it’s just kind of out of place and doesn’t always fit the vibe of the game. That’s one of the reasons I find the entire series’ soundtrack so magical: The jiving of the visuals and soundtrack, and it’s kinda…weird for the PSP version’s OST, maybe just a me thing.

Funnily enough, the arranged album for Persona 1 did this perfectly. Some of the songs are the basically the same song just with better sound quality and some of them are longer.

I'm completely new to the Megami Tensei series. I've started playing P5 first. Really enjoying it so far, but perhaps my biggest gripe is the game's writing and lack of subtly. Can't stay mad at Makoto though. But yeah anyway, I'd really like to play the older games too. I've heard that first two Persona games have amazing writing but they seem impossible to find. Any recommendations on the best way to play them when I get round to it?

You can play P1 and P2 Innocent Sin on PSP or PS1 emulator. For P2 Eternal Punishment, it hasn’t been translated yet so you have to play it on PS1 emulator.

@@pierrebegley2746 For Persona 1 PSP is probably the way to go but the OST was changed and judging by how good this song is, that's not a good thing imo, but some people prefer it. If you play the PS1 version, the "Snow Queen Quest" was completely removed and was never localized until the PSP release which is a pretty substantial part of the game if you choose to go down that route. There were also heavy heavy *heavy* localization changes in the PS1 release. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5eslq2Kfcasb7c This is a great 30 minute video detailing most of them, and the channel also has a great analysis of Persona 1 and Persona 2 Innocent Sin if you want to see if you would enjoy them before playing. Persona 1 and 2 are great games, but I believe it would be better if you played some of the "newer" games first. The jump from P5 to P3/4 was very jarring for me, so I couldn't imagine going straight from P5 to a 1996 dungeon crawler. Keep in mind the Persona/SMT gameplay isn't the type that gets better with age, as each game is slowly refining the formula. The farther back you go, the clunkier everything is going to get.

Shaman Xeed Dude chill the fuck out, I’ve never watched an anime in my life. You’re so incredibly quick to think Persona 5 is automatically everyone’s favorite that’s newer to the series. I never said anything about the games themselves, only that new fans might not be able to fully enjoy and get Persona 1 and 2 due to their age. I know many people that say Persona 2 is their favorite game. Actually read the comment first before you get your panties in a twist over a video game, I can tell you didn’t from how many typos you made rushing to defend your game that nobody even attacked in the first place. @@TehLightraven what I mean is that in general, the PSP soundtrack is more tone deaf. That also applies to this theme. I can understand why the battle theme and the boss theme are more, for lack of a better term, upbeat than the other themes, as they're meant mainly to hype you for battle. But why is this music that wouldn't sound out of place in a fighting game used as the theme for a massive ancient Egyptian tomb? Out of context, this theme is clearly better, but the PSP Kama palace theme is better in the context that they're used in.

Easily one of the best songs on the original Playstation. Signaled by the “Let’s Go!” at the start, this theme is brimming with energy. It blends those infectious orchestral hit melodies with mesmerizing electronic soundscapes, straight up Eurodance. The bassline is catchy and funky, the strings play these long, intense high notes, and the breakdown at the end is superb. As arduous as this dungeon can be, this song makes up for it. Fun Fact: The "WOO!" Vocal Sample is taken from "In the Morning Time" by Tramaine Hawkins. Ridge Racer 1 and Scud Race also used the exact same sample.

A PS1 disc(the medium for PS1 games) can handle up to 700mbs on a singular disc A PSP UMD(the medium for PSP games) can handle just under 2gb. To be more exact, it’s 1.8gb. There is literally no way they couldn’t have fit the entire PS1 OST with sound effects included on the UMD. There’s also the fact that they were able to do the same with the Persona 2 remasters so there’s not really any excuse

Admittedly, what little familiarity I have with Persona 1 comes from what I've read of a fan translation of the manga adaptation and the Persona Won comics, but what little I've seen definitely has me intrigued. Heck, the OSTs alone have me convinced to give the source material a look once I've made more progress on my Persona to-do list (still working on Q & Strikers), with this song in particular making me imagine a Persona 5 style Palace with this playing in the background. I don't quite know what context this song plays during, but for some reason, I'm picturing something along the lines of the Depths of Mementos being fused with The Under from Pokemon Colosseum....Yeah, my imagination takes me to some really strange places sometimes...
