This is, in my mind, the WORST if not the most DISAPPOINTING episode of the entire Game Of Thrones show. There are plenty of issues I have with this episode ASIDE from the Night King fiasco.

No, there are legendary swordsman through out Game of Thrones surviving wars like this; it is how they get their credit. Seeing it go down is a different story Jaime says so when he explains to Brianne how the Mad King really died. Its not always glamorous or as the story goes bran learned that first hand gleaming his father Eddard kill Arthur Dayne stabbing him in the back. Its luck and grit that anyone of them survives front line battles that's dead man fodder seats the people that do live deserve some wild story.

When jon makes it inside the castle we've freaking samwell being pinned down by five or so zombies next scene he is completely fine. We've dozens of zombies circling jorah and dany somehow these zombies decide to go assassin's creed enemies style each waiting for their time instead of smarming them like they've been for 8 straight seasons. We have arya freaking kamuying herself in front of NK and stab him like it's nothing. This isn't luck or grit or whatever this is bad fucking writting. This was erza destroying a meteor with all the bones in her body broken level of bullshit.

The books give emphasis to other things that were not show in the show, like a Targareyen bastard landing on westeros with the Golden Company, the God´s Eye, The Isle of Faces...World of Ice and Fire even talks about Children of Forest in Esteros and White Walkers on Esteros....I think George R.R.Martin knows better than creating a cookie cutter super villain with no real motive or personality. White Walkers on the books speak, have a culture, a language and a civilization and they have emotions (mocking and tauting the living for example), they even made pacts with Commanders of the Night´s Watch (human sacrifice for no agression) check the Night´s King legend on the web...Another thing that George R.R Martin emphazises in the book is the Asshai sorcery and Vallyria fallen empire (check doom of valyria)

Don't ever direspect Arya with this kind of blasphemy. Comparing her to Sakura of all characters completely shows the ignorance in this statement. Arya is more of a ninja on her worst days than Sakura could ever dream of being on her best days. Plus the show runners even stated that they had made the decision for Arya to kill the Night King seasons ago. Not to mention her prophecy given to her claiming she would shut blue eyes forever. She was the best one suited for it with her training. There was no one else who could have snuck up on the Night King. The Night King had sensory keen enough to recognize Jon was running up on him from a good distance away. At least a hundred feet or so if not more. I saw more training from Arya in one episode than I saw from Sakura throughout the entirety of the naruto series.

There were some fake scripts for season 8 that were "leaked" last year, probably created by fans and they had better plot than the one we finally got and far more deaths..One of them had the good guys getting slaughtered at Winterfell and the survivors retreating to the Eyrie where the battle with the undead continued...If they had this battle span across 3 episodes like this (instead the first 2 episodes we got were pure filler) it would have been far better, even with this level of poor writing....but they really had to conclude all this stuff in ONE episode and turn the Night King into Snoke...

At that rate he was going to win, but the main story is about who rules the Seven Kingdoms not the legends surroundings them. Its truly about the Iron Throne. That was the best method they had available, The Night King wanted Bran before moving ahead the only path not guarded by gods was straight through Winterfell the bleeding tree did nothing. The living was down support and the Dorne was not even in the meeting they had to defend the castle with three useful weapons type and reduced numbers. It was a choke point.

For example in this episode, the one thing no one is talking about, is how is the night king immune to fire when it was established that was one of their weakness. Everyone is easily disregarding the skills, traits, and strength of our heroes because not many of them died, but no one ever questions the same of the villains when it was even more convenient plot device to move the story along. Night King Should have been dead by the Dragon.

The night king can hurl an Ice spear that probably weighs 30-40 kgs and kill a flying dragon hundreds of meters away yet he grabs arya by the neck and he doesnt kill her instantly? Lmfao.

George R.R. Martin hasn't been involved in any of the writing since Season 4 ended. His books cover season 1-5 but half of season 5 is made up by the show runners. That endings of the show and the books are supposed to be somewhat similar but the path to that point is different. Arya killing the Night King basically invalidates Jon's storyline. The show runners even said "We chose Arya because it was unexpected. Having Jon do it is too expected." The show runners are the ones who made the decision to do this to subverting expectations but disregarding it making sense.

only thing that can save the show now is if Bran turned into the new NK in ep 5 and started killing people... otherwise, if it's just a battle against Cersei.. then it's basically the sacking of the shire compared to the battle of Minas Tirith... the book has ended, Sauron has lost.. who cares about Saruman? The only acceptable ending to a final battle with Cersei would be Arya blinking behind her and killing her, then done.

More characters definitely should have died in the situations they put them in. However I can't deny that visually and from a tension standpoint it was an amazing piece of television. The greatest threat that’s been hinted towards since season 1 dealt with in 1 episode. Jon Snow was written out of his own storyline to Subvert expectations but it wasn’t even in a good way. Barely any named characters died during an event called “The Great War”. This show was always story driven and Dumb and Dumber have completely butchered it. Hopefully the next epis with make up for it

David Clayton with Mel we knew she was toast. Lyanna was alright but she was introduced last season and we could barely form an attachment to her. Theon deaths was great. His character arc was completed. Jorah died doin what he loved protecting Danny. Beric protecting Arya was unexpected as the purpose of him surviving all this time. Characters like Jaimie or Sansa or Tyrion even Greyworm all seem like last episode was setting them up to die. They were ready to go and their death warrants were signed. Sam def should of died there. Tormund has no other purpose for the story. He isn’t gonna fight for Dany unless Jon does. Brienne got knighted last episode so she should of died a Knight. Jaimes character arc shoulda ended here in Winterfell where it all started but I’m guessing he might be the one to kill Cersei if not he’s been wasted.

Episode was amazing but here are some thing I thought could of made it more epic 1 white walker generals fighting 1v1 against some of the main characters like grayworm and lady brianne, or the hound, 2 John snow stabbing and killing the white dragon through weak spot after it tried to burn him but fails 3 a few more deaths like lady brianne sansa etc. 4 knight king actually fighting using good sword skills moving fast disappearing etc 5 another dragon death 6 bran warding and bringing a pack of dire wolves to his defense before the last one dies arya saves it and delivers the final blow with the same stab

They destroyed the WWs and Night King. Everything they've been building up since season 1. They used one of the dumbest war "tactics" I've ever seen in a TV show. Bran was playing "crow flight simulator" instead of doing f-ing ANYTHING! Azor Ahai story/prophecy threw into the garbage. Jon was resurrected for what?! Night King didn't even have a proper fight, let alone his generals... Dragonfire not damaging Night King doesn't make sense since Valyrian Steel was forged with dragonfire... Jeeeesus I'm so PISSED! The White Walkers( the generals) stayed out the fight for battle strategy..remember when one of them die, the walkers they made die as well..so getting rid of them just targeting just like 10 dudes and eliminating hundreds of whites. Makes perfect sense for battle strategy

The biggest problem I have with this episode is that it makes previous episodes worse rewatching them, because all of the talk and time spent saying "Winter is coming" and "The white walkers will soon be upon us" is all for nothing because the fucking red wedding took out more of the cast than the long night.
