Came here after watching the dogfight in Top Gun. I wanted to see the quality of cinematography and strategy to shoot such difficult scenes here. The fact that it was made in 1986 and most was executed in real by the actors while this even being made in 2011 is just unbelievable. We have still not reached the level of professionality that they achieved 34 years back. Though hesitantly, but India must take lessons from the West in many areas.

In US, military gives almost full access to Hollywood filmmakers if they want to make a movie on military as it will help in propaganda as well as encourage youth to enlist. India doesn’t have that problem, youth will enlist no matter what, we have the largest volunteer military, and our military doesn’t give access like US to our filmmakers, that’s why our films mostly lack realism.

India was taking heavy losses with MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-27, MiG-29 and attack helicopter Mil Mi-17. It is not known if MiG-25 was used in kargil or not. Even the existence of MiG-25 foxbat was a top secret. India quickly inducted mirage 2000 on May 30 and it was the game changer. IAF used Mirage 2000 exclusively for its air missions, grounding most of the garbage Russian paper tiger jets. It helped India to flush out Pakistani intruders from the famous tiger hill and Point 4388 in the Drass Sector and won the challenging high altitude skies of J&K. The success of Mirage pissed off some Indian media and politicians who held powerful positions & were lobbyists for Russian interest in India. They serve the Kremlin vision and wishes in India even against the interest of India. MiG's got all the praises and mirage 2000, the unsung hero never got the honor it deserved from the India media, politicians and public. Imagine getting pissed off because the mirage 2000 helped India to win the war. I believe some were even willing to lose the war if Russian military equipment and jets weren't the heroes of the war. Russian artillery shone in the Kargil war though. They were of great help to India. The Bofors guns (Russian origin) inflicted heavy casualties on Pakistanis side. Even the sound of bofor scared the Pakistani due to its effectiveness and firepower. But the Russian jets were a disaster. Russia today couldn't't even have air superiority in Ukraine, a country with almost no air force. Imagine having the bulk of our air force filled with Russian jets. India must stop purchasing fighter jets from Russia and look towards the west. India can still buy Russian SAMs systems, artillery and MRLS from Russia. Russian Navy and airforce is a joke and it is evident in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. India must serve India's interests and not Russia's interests. Jia Hind, Jia barat.

@@JT-zl8yp I am sorry. Yes, you are right. Bofors were made in Sweden. I thought Bofors were made in USSR. Well, then there you have it, bofors was a great success in Kargil war. So that means Russian military weapons didn't shine in the war even though the weapons of the majority bulk of our military was Russian (USSR) made, especially in that era. There were more Russian systems and weapons than indigenous produced + all non-Soviet/Russia weapons combined together. Me standing corrected that the Bofors were of Swedish origin. These make the case of Russia even worse. Suddenly, the bofor scandal makes sense. For the first time India purchased a big portion of that year's imported military spending on non Soviet weapons and the agents of Kremlin's in Indian parliament and media started making noises. When the fact is in every military contract there are massive corruptions. This isn't a case of congress VS other parties. On each occasion of India purchasing non-Russian weapons. There seems to be a big noise and resentment from the establishment kabal of Kerlim cohorts in India regardless of which party is in ruling. BJP signed a contract to purchase France's Dassault Rafael and the scandal went till Supereme court of India. Even the media establishments who supported Modi were unforgiving towards his government and reported on the scandal diligently. This is really scary and a threat to our country and it put our sovereignty in question. Can Indian politicians and media heads act on Indian interest without having to care for Russian interest or are all the important people comprised. Russia is known to send sparrows (female agents to work in the red district of friendly nations). Does Russia have the tape of our politicians and media head with these sparrow agents in a compromising position?

The bomb shown is the Matra 1,000 kg LGB. This bomb was never used in Kargil. Only in one scene have you shown the correct 500 kg bomb. And ac don't fly like a pack of wolves... There are specific formations to fly. No Mirage has suffered an EFCS & Hydraulic failure yet, in 35 years of ops. The Indian Govt were daft in not acquiring at least 54 more Mirage 2000 in 1994-2002.

I really don't know why air battle scenes or army movies, in this case the aerial warfare was directed so "cartoon" alike as if the air combat (airborne) command and operations is something "nonsensical". Its true that a pilot will do, or atleast should try his best to save his aircraft before ejecting, since thers always an inquiry after every crash. However this particular doctrine is coming under alot of attack a is relaxed alot more, specially in war time, as alot of pilots are lost trying to save an aircraft and ejecting too late or never !!!. What ever the chase is with the doctrine of ejection in IAF. What this movie shows; an aircrafts wing totally engulf in flame, total loss of hydraulic pressure, even a loss of FBW system. Its more likely the pilot will have time to switch to backup hydraulic, reset the FBW systems which is most unlykely to solve the situation, specially at the altitude they showed. Very most unlikely. But what the hek, its a movie right ?!!!

happydude english is a common language in aviation and defence used all around the world , easier for people to understand , helps in better co-ordination , also india does'nt have any national language , people from different states are not always proficient in a single common language i.e hindi/tamil/marathi , so english makes way more sense , and it has been 75 years since the independence and India is doing pretty well compared to the UK , in terms of growth . So the slavery you are talking about is perhaps inside your mind , try and rise above it !
