I think this psvr2 adapter is for someone exactly like me. I own a PS5 and a nice PC. I've always been interested in VR but I haven't picked one up yet. Getting the headset now with the adapter will allow me to have all the nice Ps5 features while also giving me access to all the bigger PC games.

or u can just buy a cheaper vr headset to play those bigger pc vr games.. like wth has PlayStation put out that is worth getting the psvr2 and an additional adapter and from what i heard cable? the PlayStation vr2 games will eventually be on pc now anyways. save some money and just buy valves VR headset cuz the biggest draw is playing half life alyx... PlayStation even said it.

I know the cancelled multiplayer project probably threw a wrench in things, but there's no fucking way Naughty Dog doesn't release even one new game on PS5.

Greggs hit the nail on the head. This is only good for PSVR2 owners with a PC and doesn’t fix the situation of the popularity of the headset. Without those features, I don’t think people will buy a PSVR2 for $600 mainly down to the lenses in comparison to what else is on offer. I also wonder if you had a PC already and were interested in VR, why wouldn’t you already have a VR headset of some sort. I’m still gonna try the adapter but my hope was that people would see all those features (haptics, eye tracking) on PSVR2 and the try vr on PS5. It’s a mess to be honest. I’ve always wanted PlayStation VR to succeed but I’m losing it. Astro Bot hurt me 😂

Another problem is large gaming outlets have a general understanding about VR and the library available instead of a hardcore understanding. For example I know of 20-40 good games on PSVR2 yet most will always say there’s only a few as an example. We all know how passionate the crowd is. You need someone to be correct. VR is eventually inevitable and it would be good if sites saw that and wanted to help these developers reach a larger audience. What we need is a full on vr voice for these communities because it’s always from the perspective of a lesser valued community hence they are always seen as aggressive. No hate from me. I actually agree but I understand why they feel provoked.

Agree. I think many general gaming media seem to believe social screen imagery is reflective of the experiences without having actually played the games themselves.

This is well put, and my biggest reason I’ve been so frustrated with them. Their discussions stem from ignorance of the ecosystem. I wish they had someone in the ecosystem who could correct them when they’re wrong or show them the strengths of it. Case in point, their reaction to Behemoth was so incredibly off from the VR community’s reaction it was jarring to see.

As someone who has a PSVR2 and a VR capable PC and will never give a dime of my money to Meta I am ecstatic to hear this news. The writing was on the wall that PlayStation was not going to support this much longer and they could have just walked away and left us owners stuck with what little offerings on the PS store had left. They are doing us a solid by releasing this adapter to open up the usefulness for us. Greg & Blessing are right though, it sucks but this is the reality of the situation, PlayStation made their decision to not support this any longer and this was the best resolution we could realistically ask for before walking away from it for good.

Eye tracking is expensive on PC and PSVR2 would solve that. No users, no developers. Hopefully Quest 4 will have eye tracking though. And hopefully PC PSVR2 will get support in the future. Either by first or 3rd party. Eye tracking foveated rendering saves a ton of performance and is not noticeable(unless you try really hard).

The problem with Kindafunny and the rest of the mainstream games media that don’t play/review 98% of the games or pay attention to anything happening with VR to even recognize the progression and various other developments that have been happening. They don’t recognize what’s actually going on and then want to prognosticate. There have been actual technology obstacles to getting PSVR2 features into games. I kind of suspect a dualsense controlled Astrobot VR for PSVR2 will be announced with the announcement of the PS5 Pro. Part of the problem is that the best games are horror games and most people are petrified at the idea horror in VR. Every 6 months since PSVR1 has been released it’s claimed that it dead only to have to come back and see that it’s not. That’s a long ass time to just constantly try to dance of the empty grave of anything. Firewall Ultra died because it launched in a shitty start and then they got their clocks cleaned by Pavlov, Crossfire and Alvo with Contractors rumored to be coming then and later officially announced to be coming. The Meta Quest streams compressed video. Assassin’s Creed bombed on Quest because the majority of Quest owners only play casual/social and fitness games. Arkham will meet the same fate most likely. Because Facebook is throwing around money publishers including big ass ones like Ubisoft and EA are likely attempting to extort that same money from Sony, which is why they keep investing in smaller studios like Vertigo games that ported their VR banger Vertigo 2 to PSVR2 a couple of months ago. I’m not going sit here and say there’s an immediate 180 in the works from Sony as far as first parties are concerned l, but I can see Sony, after having GAAS collapse on them and then blow up in their faces in the form of Bungie hemorrhaging money Sony may actually put more resources into PSVR2 development. I’m sure Sony will be observing the performance of Metal:Hellsinger from Flat2VR Studios as well as their other VR ports from being a purely PC hacking group everyone playing PCVR games said would never have any involvement with Sony and now they are a full fledged PlayStation developer. The fact is if Sony didn’t care they wouldn’t be gaurding PS5 exclusive features VR. Nobody stopped to consider that devs were limiting PSVR2 development up to this point partially because they are were all developing/testing PSVR2 games with Quest 2s when there weren’t any competitively priced PCVR HMDs that had the features of the PSVR2. Ultimately, PC compatibility is about getting more small developers and others the tools they need to implement PSVR2 specific features at a reasonable price and port their flat games to PSVR2 with far fewer obstacles and PSVR2 gamers get an extra window into some other games on PC.

Nah. It isn't a good thing when it has none of the features that make it stand out. As someone who has used several headsets, these are ostensibly monitors strapped to the head. Imagine buying a monitor or television with HDR only to have to wait for the community of fellow owners to hack it and let yah access it. The community should not have to put in that work. I get what you're saying, but I think the main argument he has been trying to get across is less "psvr2 sucks" and more that this seems like Sony is opting out of making psvr2 the next big thing and has decided to let it sit and gather dust in terms of game development. I agree that his attitude is a little aggressive or jaded, but when he has been reporting on the lack of push from Sony (when compared to Meta and Valves efforts) for so long and constantly been attacked for his perspective; you can kinda understand why he is saying it like this.

There are currently 200 games and most of them are decent or better. Only about 10% are reviewed as bad. A lot of them are genuinely pretty great. But if you only listen to kinda funny you’d think it had 20 games and 18 suck.

PlayStation had no games for the psvr2 do they are giving those sad fans who jumped on the ship a way to use their vr headset, but fuck them give sony more money. go buy that adapter for 60 bucks. go buy the extra cable which sony does not include....go pair and sign up for the app and whatever to set up your psvr 2 for the steam blah blah. no one should be thinking, "huh now ima get a psvr2 now that i can use it on pc" anyone who wants to play vr games should just buy a old vr headset like the steam one.
