all rearview did lie about psvr 2. all said gt 7 graphics was amazing it look like just like what we see on tv but it was not. im disappointed. with resolution and image quality. i wish it was at minimum 5k i think the pico need higher resolution to. i still have psvr 2 im playing no man sky on it it look better then gt 7 for sure but still im not amazed by it. i think when we get to 6k vr headsets then we can say they have good image quality. pimax look unconfutable and is gigantic brick i want 150ish fov at max and small formfactor

Despite hating cable based VR I can suggest that the meta quest 2 wonderful 2 intros were amazing. They helped everyone I know get a feel and that dancing with a robot was unforgettable. Hope that help. This issue was solved years ago. The GOW idea is terrible for most people. It needs to be gender neutral and soft and light...not friken kratos lol I'd love it though haha

Great video dude - absolutely love your studio setup :) Totally with you on making the PS VR2 introduction more welcoming for newcomers. Ideal world... when you start it up it throws you into a VR tutorial hub with experiences and suggestions. I actually really loved PlayStation VR Worlds on PSVR and of course, though Astro's Playroom was an excellent PS5 intro game as you say. There are quite a few great introductory VR titles on PS VR2, but you're not going to know where to find them unless you do a lot of research. How about a digital PS VR2 starter pack? Comfort ratings is smart, but may be hard to define / differentiate.

I really agree. Oculus First Contact was my initial intro to VR and it's been a hit with everyone who I've shared it with. I think we need a low-intensity, zero-movement demo like that. It was the perfect chance for a new Astro game to easy VR newcomers in, but sadly we didn't get that. It's one of the things really hampering VR in general, is that people don't know about VR sickness in general, and don't know that easing into VR will negate or overcome it. I play H3VR with really fast movement and smooth turning, but if you put a newcomer into that they'd lose their lunch instantly. But newcomers don't know that, so they see a cool VR game being played on KZbin, jump into it themselves, feel sick, and think that they just can't do VR. They don't realize it takes acclimation and practice to know how to deal with the sensations of being in intense VR. Everyone is worried about headsets being cheap and sleek enough for VR to take off and it's really more about making it comfortable for new players. I know at least three people personally that tried VR and bounced off of it because it made them dizzy or motion sick.

Thank you for making this video Mike! I completely agree that in order for the platform to grow we need to cater more comfortable experiences for new users. I work at a virtual reality arcade that introduces beginners to Steam VR games. 90% of our games are stationary or teleporting locomotion titles and we help customers out every step of the way in their experience. Because of this, they always walk away having had a great time and interested in purchasing a headset of their own (along with the benefit of being able to play together which I also think is important for the platform to grow). Love the content and cant wait for the video! Cheers!

Excellent video, I don't do consoles but cannot believe a company like Sony doesn't have a intro for PSVR-2 that would ease someone new to VR into the new experiences. Agreed, VR can make you ill when not use to the sensations (total disconnect between body and mind), they could at least have a few VR experiences to gently ease you into it with onscreen instructions as to what to do to cope with the experience not to mention the proper way to fit the HMD on your head to make sure you are in the optics sweet spot. In example, a simple roller coaster ride, look straight forward until you feel comfortable with that, then gently start looking to the sides. I agree with you that a LOT of people are selling their expensive gear just because there was no coaching them on how to easily earn their VR Legs. :(

I can definitely agree about the fact that there isn't any demos tutorials on the PSVR. Meanwhile the Rift and Quest platform have the first steps to learn how to use the controllers and interact in VR, and SteamVR have a (pretty funny) tutorial explaining what on the controller do what, and how the chaperone works, and after that, there is TheLab which is a perfect experience for new players. Also the fact that there isn't a dedicated VR menu (like the PSVR 1, btw) for the PSVR 2 is pretty weird. I was hoping to see a Quest like menu, which would be much more intuitive to navigate in it.

Yeah the lack of any sort of change to the home screen in PSVR 2 is a huge letdown. Some people want full 3D environments (which would be cool), but I'd settle for the game and app tiles popping out from the background a bit so you can see something with a 3D effect, and allowing you to select things with eye tracking. I can't imagine this would be difficult to implement.

Any newcomer reading this: What helped me get over any sickness at all (reprojection in PSVR2 or not) is to play fps games with snap turn; the game is still tons of fun, mainly because you can still turn your head anywhere to expand your 180 view of the world and then snap turn only when you really need to. Some games even offer a vignette of darkness that darkens your periphreal view. I didn't see any difference with that though.

I love VR. Got my PSVR (and PS4Pro) the second they got out. But for PSVR2 (and PS5[Pro]), this time I'm waiting it out, just because of the games. There are still too few (good) games to warrant the cost of the new hardware. I rather wait for more games and a significant pricedrop at the moment and be content with my PSVR1. I'm waiting for more full fledged games like RE8 and such. We are a point now, those small games don't cut it anymore. Heck, just go into PS3 games and remake some of those with VR support. That era had fun games. I'm still hoping for a MotorStorm Trilogy, Killzone Trilogy, Resistance Trilogy, ... remakes with VR support.

I agree 100% with this. I migrated from pc to console with the PS4 and upgraded to the PS5 shortly after it was released. I’ve held off on VR up to this point to let the technology mature a bit. I just purchased my first VR system with the PSVR2 with the Horizon bundle. My experiences were exactly as you described. Inadequate onboarding, lackluster tutorials, with no clear guidance with how I’m supposed to approach this new technology. My expectations were shattered and I was absolutely blown away by the intro sequence of Horizons. I thought, what an amazing technology this is! But, as you said, once the climbing began and I fell off the cliff a few times, motion sickness set in and I turned the game off. I’ll probably take a step back - maybe give it another try tomorrow from a seated, fixed position. And I’ll look for some easier demos and games to ease into this new world. But I feel like I’m largely alone trying to figure things out.

As a VR newcomer, I totally agree with you!! The PSVR2 is my first experience and I would have loved more introduction to it before diving into Call of the Mountain, which I got with the set!! I didn’t even know about the effects of the different comfort settings or even that they existed!! I had to look up those informations online. An introduction in the Astro game would indeed have been a fun one!! (Although finally being able to play the Moss games totally helped as well!!) I’m still in the process of getting my VR legs, slowly learning with each game. More guidance with ratings would definitely help choose games in the future!!

@GreyMatterShades 11 ай бұрын
Moss was the first game I played on my PSVR 1, and it definitely helped get me into VR. Sucks that you had to go it alone without any sort of guidance. Hopefully you're still enjoying VR! Here's a few tips that helped me get my VR legs: 1) Have a fan blowing on you while you play. Sounds weird, but it helps a lot with comfort and keeps you slightly grounded in reality. Also helps you tell which direction you're facing. 2) You already sort of know this one, but start with comfortable games. Moss 1+2 are awesome for this, but here's a few more: Beat Saber, Before Your Eyes, Cosmonious High (demo available), Demeo, Drums Rock (demo available), Job/Vacation Simulator, Pistol Whip, Puzzling Places (demo available), Ragnarock (demo available), Rez Infinite, Startenders, Tentacular, Tetris Effect Connected, Thumper, and Zombieland Heashot Fever. 3) If you start to feel uncomfortable, STOP. Ideally you'd stop before you feel uncomfortable and just have shorter play sessions, but the most important thing is that you need to stop until you're fully recovered. That could mean standing still in the game and waiting until the feeling passes, or taking the headset off for a break or for the rest of the day (depending on the severity and persistence of symptoms). The important thing is not to try to push through it, except... ...another thing that helped me was pushing myself little bits at a time in a controlled way. If you own a game (or download a demo) where a particular action makes you feel uncomfortable (like walking forward with smooth locomotion or turning with smooth turning), try to do it for just a split second then stop. If your discomfort subsides quickly, wait until you're feeling totally fine and then do it a little bit more. You never want to push yourself to the point of persistent symptoms, but if you can recover quickly I think this helps a lot with building up tolerance. Be careful though. If it starts taking longer to recover, switch back to more comfortable settings or switch to a more comfortable game. If you want to attempt this, it could work with Horizon, or there are demos of Resident Evil Village, Song in the Smoke, and Star Wars Tales from the Galaxy's Edge. All of those would work, but Song in the Smoke might be the best, since it runs at a higher framerate than the others which helps with comfort. Anyway, I hope this hepls!

It had me swing my arms up and down to move, but it didn't go where I looked. I saw in another video they used the left stick to move. Anyway, I guess I picked a different comfort level in the beginning, but I'd rather use the stick than simulate walking by swinging my arms up, and down. I agree, I would love to see another Astrobot Rescue Mission, maybe a Spider-Man or GoW VR spinoff, Uncharted, or even just some new IP's from those devs made specifically for PSVR 2

@@samslenderman Totally agree. Capcom still deserves a lot of credit, because even though Sony is putting in the money, Capcom is putting in the time and effort. I don't really think we'll see any new IP from Sony on PSVR 2, unless maybe there's a sequel to VR Worlds, and one of the demos spawns a full game like how London Heist became Blood and Truth. But I could see them doing more hybrids and spinoffs. All the ones you mentioned would be great, as would Ghost of Tsushima.

Astrobot was such a brilliant introduction to the PS5. Another experience similar to that would have been perfect. Side note - Such a missed opportunity that they didn't strike while the iron was hot, and launch this with a LAST OF US VR EXPERIENCE. The show was a massive hit, and then there was the PC release of the original at the same time.

DId you play Rescue Mission on PSVR1? It was mind blowing, especially that underwater beach boogie stage. :O I dropped out of Astro's Playroom on PS5. They did a wonderful job strictly in terms of it being a Duel sense feature showcase in regards to it's haptics, adaptive triggers and gyro, but other than that i just didn't find it anywhere near as enjoyable or impressive as Rescue mission on VR1. They need to port over the latter, stat. 2000x2040 per eye, 110d FOV, 90fps(Wishful thinking) and with Sense controller support.

You're absolutely right. Although I've never had a VR unit before, I'm a seasoned gamer and jumpstarted straight to the PSVR2 experience. Even so, had moderate motion sickness the first couple days and really considered returning the equipment. For my relief, the third day was smooth and, since then, I've played it for hours without a hindrance. It's important to mention that I did some research in order to do so, deciding to set the brightness to a minimum to mitigate the ghosting effect. So, for the average consumer, a guided experience is paramount, and Sony fumbled the ball. The PSVR2 is GREAT, but the experience lacks guidance for sure.

Brilliant vodeo for any new comer to PSVR2, VR veterans and new comers need to understand the PSVR2... i believe this should always be displayed each time you put the HMD on, too many complain about it being blurry. Simple fix for that. (CANT POST PIC SORRY) Push the PlayStation button on one of your controllers to bring up the PSVR2 Activity Card, and select the Adjust Visibility option. This will instruct you to use the wheel on the top of your headset to align your lenses and helps with focus 🤘

Spot on. My first experience with VR was WMR, and they had Cortana give me the overview and pushed me towards a free, stand-still Halo VR experience that was target practice against a simulation of the covenant. I then went to Superhot VR, which was a good game to get my legs with.

I 100% agree with this. I jumped right into GT7 and was having a great time until I spun out and got instantly motion sick. So I put down and had to use it in small doses over about a week and stopped as soon as I felt any discomfort. It didn't take long to get over it and I'm glad I stuck with it but Sony should really have provided some kind of VR-101 for new VR players like myself.

I love VR from DK1. I went to the conferences, travelled to try on demo headsets. But then sometime after CV1 there seemed to be a shift to just ignore comfort and use artificial locomotion for every game. Gone was teleport and other similar comfort options. I don’t really see anyone trying to work on the comfort issue any more. I can’t play any of the coolest looking games. They just want to sell to the subset who can play any game without getting sick. I don’t get any kind of motion sick in the real world. But VR definitely induces it. Hopefully somewhere behind the scenes (maybe at metas lab ) there is someone working on a solution.

I couldn't agree with you more, especially the comfort rating system. I have my 'VR Legs', so I would probably disregard it, but it would help cut down on attrition of the VR community. Also, Sony needs to have demo kits in some big box stores (i.e. Best Buy, etc.), like they did with PSVR 1. I got my first taste of VR at a Best Buy right before the PSVR 1 launch and haven't looked back and am now hooked on VR. On a side note, I like your positive attitude with your videos and reviews. Thank you for your great contribution to the VR community, Mike! Much appreciated!

I know this is 6 months old now, but you nailed it 1. I expected backwards compatibility, especially in a modern world like today. I was completely ruined when i found out all the games i loved on PSVR1 didnt work anymore 2. The lack of experiences, just as you said.. I would let my kids play those and always put them on for when family and friends came over 3. No KZbin VR anymore!?!? 4. Overall, the first time I bought it, I discovered almost no games in the store, ontop of no backward compatibility this really killed it for me.

I got the psvr2 a couple of months ago. Tried GT7 but got confused when the menus weren't in VR (I thought I hadn't set up my hardware correctly). So I tried the Star wars tftge because it had a demo. I used smooth motion and started feeling woozy and 15-20min so I stopped. I haven't played it since, mostly because games are all $30+ and very few have demos so it's hard to commit. I haven't given up yet of course but you're right that they could make it easier for newcomers.

That idea of a introduction would be super beneficial. It seems that many sets have shown up on marketplace because of MS and most don’t realize it’s a thing til you get one. I want to love it and get into this world, but it definitely doesn’t love me and I don’t have the energy to push thru the MS experience.Great video

Those "tech demo" games that are shorter and require very minimal interactivity end up being my most replayed games in VR. You just can't throw someone new into a Half Life Alyx or even a Pistol Whip. Not unless you want them to have a bad time. There were also imediately games to play with the other people on your couch. Those Astro mini games were fun. And it justified a larger purchase because it could be used together with your partner or kids. Something like that would make it way easier to justify such a big purchase on top of already having paid for a PS5.
