@sevn8757 Жыл бұрын
Even if it is a great experience ( and it looks like it is) a standalone headset is probably the best bet for that. I'm on PC myself and I'd have to buy a ps5 plus the headset and on top of that this wouldn't work with steam.
@Tezorus Жыл бұрын
@sevn8757 Ho, yeah, sure. When you're used to pcvr It's probably better to stick with it. Yet for someone who only plays games on ps5, it will allow a quick and simple entry into the vr world.
@sqlevolicious Жыл бұрын
Less accessible because it's connected to a console thsy not many people have though. If anything, console VR only further kills VR mainstreamability. Most people have a capable gaming pc thanks to the pandemic forcing people to get a PC. Then you have quest 2, which is only $300. PCVR games are all incredibly cheap too. PSVR2 is worse for VR accessibility.
@sqlevolicious Жыл бұрын
@Tezorus which is hardly anyone considering very few people own a PS5, and those people that do, are not all going to get a $600+ VR system they more than likely won't like using. On top of the added expense of PSVR2 games. It's not going to sell well, and Sony knows that. Which is why they are not pushing any marketing for it outside of some small vr youtubers and a tiny Sony direct video on youtube.

Loved your PSVR2 review! I'm really glad you were honest in mentioning both the pro's and con's, this review didn't feel like a cheap commercial. Most of the issues can be easily fixed with software updates. I will be getting one when it releases!
@VirtualRealityOasis Жыл бұрын

@stuartburns8657 Жыл бұрын
Not so sure a few software updates will fix some of the issues. Ghosting at 120hz is simply a lack of system resource. Personally I get wobbly when teleporting, so always use smooth motion. Screen door effect. Never bothered me with the Q1, but that's a physical attribute of the lenses. Sweet spot difficulties have been mentioned by most reviewers, sure you'd eventually nail it and get used to it. Controller tracking (given seemingly more front focused cameras) seems a step backwards. That HAS the scope for SW to make slightly better imo. Like all of VR, we're struggling for quality content, and with CotM being 8-10 hours to finish, it's content starvation and developer apathy which is the biggest challenge still. PCVR (excluding the varying flat screen mods) feels pretty much dead, and Quest content is stagnant. Hopefully Sony's latest efforts will be a defibrillator VR 👍

If they put effort into VR they'd actually be making AAA VR games, not just adding some DLC or patches to non-VR games. They're actually putting in a very lazy, low-risk effort. The only company putting actual money into VR is Quest, unfortunately. I mean just take this Sony VR headset, it's what, $600, and it's just a wired screen with some controllers attached? They couldn't even bother getting rid of the wire? This is very much a low risk, low effort job by Sony. Hopefully other companies end up making some AAA games for it, but if Sony won't even put any money or effort into it, I doubt anyone else will. Nope, you'll just get more Beat Saber games and some half-assed patches for existing games.

I'm compelled to say *thank you* for not striking the PSVR2's review down a notch or two simply because of the price of the product itself. I've seen countless reviews that factor the price tag explicitly as a negative, which I find absolutely conflicting because the PS5 itself didn't get dinged for technically requiring an external monitor (i.e., if you want to play PS5 in 4K, you must also spend more money on a TV or display, & likely vastly more for a 4K display). What's worse is if we were comparing the PSVR2 with any comparable display, it's essentially an inescapable steal at 2K & 120hz for $500. 🤷🤷♂🤷♀

Nice review. For some people, this might be their very first VR headset. For those I would recommend looking at a few beginners guides. (maybe Mike should make an updated one) Especially if you are new to VR and have bought the horizon bundle. Take it easy at first. Motion sickness can kick in pretty quickly when you are a beginner. If you start to get light headed, stop immediately and take a break. Worst thing you can do is try and power through it, as it just makes it way worse. Then you will be out for the rest of the day. Getting the sweats is one of the first signs. It may take some time, but the more you play, the quicker you will get used to it. Once you have your VR legs though, nothing can stop you. Nothing in VR makes me motion sick now. But I am an 8 year VR veteran.

Great Review Mike ! TY. Hope you see this cause I had a question about the adjustable lens for people with very narrow IPD(58) and the bridge of my nose hitting the lens housing. Like you I NEVER want to back the lenses off my eyes, since it gives the best vision / immersion. But I have seen on other headsets (Quest one) where the bridge of my nose would slowly push the IPD wider and wider quickly as I play, since quest one didn't have "locked" IPD sections. Do you think this will be a problem with PSVR2? Or can you not push the lenses very easily by accident? Thank You again for your coverage! Great to see VR getting more great Hardware!

Good review. Seems like a well thought through headset. Not that I'm likely to get it or a PS5, but it's got promising ideas that I hope PC headsets will adopt.

Eye tracking is not important to anyone. Vive Pro Eye has been around for years and no vr game studios care about Eye tracking outside vrchat and Facebook horizons. The rest of the PSVR2s features can be found on any PCVR system and standalone.
@s3rv3r3rror8 Жыл бұрын
@@sqlevolicious Again with the nonsense, stop your BS my guy. You're not convincing anybody lmao😂 All reviewers including Digital foundry and NXgamer have tested eyetracking and foveated rendering and they say it's a gamechanger. Even the pavlov devs said with eyetracking and FoVR they are getting 10% better performance than their high end PC! It not being used in PCVR is because non of these companies give a shit about PCVR. We are lucky to have the modding community otherwise PCVR would've been burried a long time ago. So again stop your bullshit crusade and go play your little PCVR library and go wave your knuckles around😂

@@sqlevolicious eye tracking could be really important if it allows demanding games to run at decent framerate on ps5 equivalent hardware, it means not having to buy both an expensive headset and a very expensive graphics card

05:10 These OLED panels are not pentile, they are RGB, so the SDE should be the same as on LCD. Was this a mistake? Or is it the case that OLED pixels, even when RGB, are furthered spaced apart? Thanks.

Here we go!!!!!!! The single charging cable is baffling though, I brought that up as one of my silly concerns on my podcast and thought I was probably just being paranoid but it turns out I was right to be, dunno how I'm gonna charge them both at the same time.
@Robert-px7fw Жыл бұрын
Why is this even an issue in reality? If you have any spare USB C (fast charging) leads from mobile phones that are not being used. I have acquired several over the years. They obviously can be used. I charge my dual sense controller either separately from the wall socket or an extension lead if the PS 5 usb C port is charging my Pulse 3d headset at the same time. Any good quality fast charging USB C lead will suffice. Everyone thinks they need a dedicated charging unit for the Sense controllers but this is not correct. A simple fast charging USB C lead will suffice. Hopefully one less silly concern? Hope that's helpful?

Looks like it's going to be REALLY awesome. Hope it manages to get a huge install base, so we can get lots and lots of new VR content! Also, this is thinking way ahead, but seems like the kind of device that might still run well on the PS6, considering it's basically the TV, not the gaming system itself.

Thank you Mike for this video. My pre-order has pulled today which has me super excited. Hopefully we can get a second headset so my (18 year old) son can play with me. Great review, Defo convinced me i will get one in the next month or so, plus the real game changing element of this is devs can now get their teeth into much higher grade PC level VR Games! Good for everyone and ports!. I hope the ghosting when smooth moving can be fixed with software maybe with some FSR to smooth things out? I am also glad you touched on the using the headset as a tv replacement playing flat 2D PS5 games, though 1080p?? jez I hope this also improves with software!

I am concerned with what you said about the small sweetspot. It was the reason i sent back the HP reverb g2. Could you possibly elaborate on how it affects your experience? I am worried that due to the eye tracking we are encouraged to look off center to follow things but then are wandering off of the sweetspot just to face annoyance with the lack of sharpness.
