John Waugh; this is not always the case. Conditioning best explains your hypothesis. Happy New Year!

Could you enlarge on the assertions you are making. By "not always the case" are you sayingg that the emotion process is other than I describe and, if so, can you tell us the circumstances in which emottion may otherwise be experienced? What relationship does "conditioning " have, as you suggest, to my hypothesis.of experiencing emotion?

Another lecture on a simplistic assumption that stress, pleasures, excitement, concern, interest , attraction and aversion are Emotions. which, in fact, are what we correctly decsribe as Feelings The mistaken semantic error is failure to recognise there are feelings , thoughts and sensations unrelated to Emotion which is a specific identified survival function , via the amydala, which alerts us and induces physiological changes enabling us to cope with perceptions of threat or promise.

I am more than deeply suspicious that this guy and others like him haven't the understanding to distinguish beween feelings generally and feelings induced by emotion. To experience "emotion" is to be aroused and undergo physiological changes enabling you to cope with some perception of threat or promise from the environment. This process and awareness of arousal is emotion which induces feelings, sensations stresses excitation moods and behavior to which we attach "emotion" word labels.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." Genesis 1:28 But I did find this: God created people to be virtuous, but they have each turned to follow their own downward path." Ecclesiastes 7:29
