Living in the moment, tasting things better and noticing things more etc etc are all great side effects for me because I do this to keep stress away, My other job stress is unbelievable and my health took a bashing, 3 strokes later I stumbled across *mindfulness meditation* 45 minutes a day no excuses and I have *zero stress* just follow and observe my breath, so simple and can be a life saver!

+ShakinJamacian see I can't be mindful because I could care less abut the present I already know I'm not as skilled as people think they call me musical, I think a grade two can count to twelve and read a list, not to mention I don't have the certificates to teach it anywhere. most places around here in general I couldn't care much less about because they are likely all minimum wage low hour jobs in a conglomerate. people may say I'm skilled at knitting and crochet but it doesn't usually take much skill to mimic what you see on a KZbin video or tie a slip knot. people may say I'm good at searching for things but after you find websites that tell you how to do things it's mimicry to be able to find things on google etc. I don't have a job and don't have plans to gain the skills to would make me stand out in a workplace.

Thinking is all were taught in school, it's supposed to be what helps us to survive, get jobs, and to procreate. But thinking doesn't lead to freedom and happiness. Mindfulness can give you the strength to free yourself from the bonds of this world, relax or to look deeply at your suffering and to understand it's origins. Mindfulness is a lamp of awareness that when shined onto something, reveals the essence of that object.

But so what if you're aware of how you're feeling and why?
@therapistintherealworld39699 жыл бұрын
+Faure Swanepoel So there is a lot to this question. First of all, there is the suffering that life gives you, and there is the suffering that we create ourselves(through ruminating on the past, or worries about the future, trying to avoid negative feelings in unhealthy ways, etc.). Being able to be present, in the moment, and be willing to experience your emotions nonjudgmentally (in an observer mind) significantly helps people stop the cycles that create their own suffering and be at peace with the experiences that they are having.

Moving from traditional meditation, I feel that this is more mindful. How do I know if I'm doing things right?
@ReubenAStern8 жыл бұрын
I guess if your thinking negatively all the time, or insisting you must be happy all the time.... you haven't quite mastered it yet. I think it's about stopping and saying "whats the pros and cons of this situation" Listening to your emotions so they can help you make decisions instead of taking over you. Meditation is useful though, it's like resetting your mind, so you can think more clearly and take a fresh look at things.

What is NoFap? I find combining mindfulness with walking at a fast pace very powerful because I get the high of the exercise and the healing effect of the mindfulness at the same time. So that 20 to 30 minute period lifts my mood and I feel peaceful and high towards the end. I pay attention either to my movement or to my breathing as I walk.

One correction as an additional benefit to meditation: Science shows that creative new ideas can only come when one is NOT in the Default "thinking" network of the brain. So that is an additional plus for meditation.

@nathanielslade37543 жыл бұрын
I'm a little late here but meditation is a way of being mindful and its more of an exercise to strengthen mindfulness. But mindfulness itself can be done at every given moment. Its focusing on the now and noticing things like your breathe just like meditating and everything else around you. Its also noticing your feelings and accepting them but not letting them control you.

Something about all this smells fishy. “ Being here now” should be integrated into our zeitgeist enough to not need it in another cloak. Still,it’s helpful sometimes to see the obvious with a new name to it as a reminder. I just hate the moniker “ mindfulness” and having to be bored by a re- do.

What would constitute 'working' for you? And what have yo tried and for how long?
@Chebab-Chebab6 жыл бұрын
@@mindfuleats4517 Sorry for the delay in responding. I was 'roped into' Mindfulness training at work two years ago. We were told all about how great mindfulness is, but not what it was or how to do it (other than the annoyingly vague 'be present'). So, me being me, I did some research. All I found were repetitions of the same woolly explanations without serious scientific backing - in fact, the scientific 'facts' were cherry-picked benefits and any negative scientific results were not published by mindfulness advocates. Every website and blog had a shop to buy hippy stuff and a 'Donate to us so we can continue to live our mindful life' paypal account. Mindful scrounging. Jon Kabat-Zin is worth millions. Andy Puddicombe (headspace) is worth 25 million pounds. Any book with 'Mindful' on its cover is more expensive than the non-mindful equivalent. It's a racket in sandals. They are the prophets of profit. Companies like mindfulness because they can appear to be doing something for workplace stress, rather than eliminate the stress. It's medicine, not a cure. I don't need mindfulness. It's a con.
