@JZ's Best Friend I had to double check the date on your comment; while it might have been more understandable at the time of the original post, I think it's pretty clear that these days we aren't going to see any actual comedy any time soon. Aside from the fact that there isn't any new comedy on tv/ being made in general any that does come out seems to be mindless, watered-down, nonsensical, bland, creatively bankrupt, completely and utterly 'safe', PC, line-toeing garbage with the deliberate overarching aim of being as 'inoffensive' as physically possible, like it was written by a bot not cognisant of what human humour is. Considering the careers that have been ruined by retroactive looks at past work where their material did not pose a political problem (and why is politics telling entertainment what to do anyway) one can see where this paralysing fear of writing anything that could be seen as even remotely edgy comes from. Thus we have to now rely on these past series for our comedy these days if we want it to actually resemble what comedy is supposed to be (for one thing challenging to societal norms and uncaring of what the state thinks of it). Even the world's biggest and most successful comedians (say, Dave Chappelle) who routinely sell out stadiums and tours, have been censored by the networks that initially propelled them to even greater fame (i.e. he was dropped by Netflix) which just highlights the levels of inanity and governmental intrusion on civil liberty and even the arts we have succumbed to. One can only hope this era of soviet-style censorship ends soon before society does become an even more unbearable sad and depressing place

The fallacy in this season is that the ship's crew would have needed to plot their course, and as soon as they examined the stars to determine their location it would've been immediately clear that the main cast was telling the truth, at least about where and when they were. Also they kept sending the canaries to locations that were clearly from tthe future in relation to their percieved time period. I wondered if the nanobots built some sort of mental block into the resurrected crew. There, I got that nerd out of my system.

The way I rationalise it is that the ship's situation is being kept a secret by officers, and since the Canaries are all convicts held in isolated conditions there's no risk of any information leaking to the rest of the crew. It's probably not a watertight explanation but it works for me.
