St. John’s wort is used over the counter for depression and it is said to bloom near his birthday June 24

I appreciated the content but you never covered the treatment for DTs. I know pre-hospital it is Thiamine (B12) but beyond that, I'm not sure. Any other treatment for DTs?

Thanks for the nice lecture! Now i don't know about how it's in other countries but here St. Johns Wort is also sold in Pharmacies as an otc drug for light depression which can be a problem when people are not responding to their SSRI and try to get something else but just keep taking the SSRI.

Isn’t agitation/aggression also an psychiatric emergency? And what about delirium in general ? It’s really difficult for me to define psychiatric emergencies.
@prestonbrower4411 Жыл бұрын
agitation/ aggression can be but usually it's all about cause. This content I believe is more focused on causes more so than symptoms. Delerium could also be an emergency yes but again, what's the cause. Getting down to the cause will help you get closer to finding the fix and thus help your patient.
@Ethelgiggle Жыл бұрын
@@prestonbrower4411 Yea I agree. With delirium the cause is very important. If it's alcohol withdrawal the treatment is different to delirium from an anticholinergic toxidrome for example.
