At a certain point (~16 minutes) Dantes acknowledges that his attempts at self-actualisation are futile (its a never-ending pursuit of improvement, you can never actually be the best), and refers to this as an "issue" in terms of reaching his end goals. He mentions this directly after talking about how everything is temporary and constantly changing, which is a motivation to keep improving because otherwise the world would change around him while he would "stay the same". But then, he doesn't seem to acknowledge that his own performance gains are equally temporary and will inevitably decline. Probably more concerningly, He doesn't seem to recognize that not only is this constant pursuit unnecessary to achieve his true end-goals (kids, family, friends - the things that would ideally make him happy), but actually harmful to it - because he feels it's necessary to alienate himself from others (family, relationships, even interactions with those wanting his interactions) in order to succeed in his endless "progression". It's all stemming from a deeply ingrained insecurity that he has at this point far surpassed, but the residual anxiety it left behind still festers enough to produce this worldview of constantly needing to know that IF he were being judged, hes already likely to be his own worst critic. The basal question - If you can never be the best, and if you have to constantly improve to be the best or else the world will surpass you, when will you ever reach the point that you say "okay, thats enough, now I can stop sacrificing my opportunities for happiness"?

In this case yes, most people wouldn't be on league for 10 hours per day. Lifting is a great way to meet people, same with literally anything other than being on your PC. Secular to hardcore gamers, I agree. But, I ask what is the purpose of self actualization? Where is the benefit if not in the journey itself? If one desires self actualization, yet forgoes everything immediate for these goals, is he truly on the path to self actualization? Food for thought, extended beyond current context

Dante's mom giving the advice to ask any question is such a great outlook. It's always important to ask questions, even if they seem odd. Being inquisitive and asking dumb questions is 1000x better than being confused and not putting your hand up. Teachers need to get better at dealing with the odd questions. I wish I had a teacher who would research my odd question and give me an answer, and inspire inquisitiveness. That's how you instill passion and interest in students, and how some of the greatest minds are formed. Nobody is born knowing everything! Don't be afraid to ask questions if you're genuinely curious.

The only teacher who would do this was my physics teacher who I still regard as one of my favorite and best teachers. He knew I did jackshit in school and still passed, so he answered my questions and kept me engaged with more challenging work. If it took a long time explaining he told me to stay after the lesson so others would still get the lesson they needed. He made me want to study physics sadly I had to dropout due to crippling disease.

Its a "self defense" mechanism (overthinking and self reflecting) to make it so no one can ever hurt you and you can never hurt yourself because your beliefs are just and and you're being the best person you can possibly be. To be prepared for absolutely anything that comes your way. Its like Ive also spent hours thinking not being able to sleep because I haven't thought through every step I took that day and if it was the right thing and what I can do better to work on myself. Its like after winning any argument or anything going wrong in my life was in some way my fault even if "it wasnt" because I could see the fault in myself and around the situation itself. Its like building new relationships with people on the regular growing up because my family was constantly moving made it possible to see certain parts of other people and myself that in turn made me in to the kind of person who is never perfect because I can see the flaws in myself as-well. Its like a day not working on myself is seeing a loss in myself reminding myself that everything can be lost in a moment and will be lost in a moment if I don't change just like everything in the past was lost in an instant. Its like any version of myself in the past is someone that I hate and every version of me in the future will never be enough and Its like I know exactly how it feels. It's not just a self defense mechanism, he seems to have OCD. 1) Need for control 2) Ruminating over thoughts (compulsion) 3) Violent/degenerate intrusive thoughts (obsession) 4) Need to get up and walk to talk about certain things (compulsion) I say this because I have OCD myself. And I'm not just trying to be "just like him fr", as a matter of fact I was convinced he didn't have OCD until he mentioned the rumination and needing to stand up to talk. That's when things clicked.

Drugs and alcohol are fine in moderation, depending on the drug obviously. Don't take Dante's fear of loss of control as a moral lesson, he doesn't do it because it's right or proper, but because they scare him. If avoiding drugs and alcohol is what is best for you, that's cool, but it should be an active choice made in the pursuit of something, be it your health or something else, not because you're avoiding something.

Loved hearing this and reflecting on myself as well throughout my life. I'm 7 years older than you @Doaenel but I've gotten through the trauma of my early 20's thankfully at this point. One very important thing I'd like to suggest (and this is coming from a nobody, probably much less successful and less controlled stranger on the internet who couldn't even dream of having a conversation with a semi-celebrity) is it's very good to give yourself more experiences. It's kinda like, if the square block doesn't fit in the circle hole then find a block that does you know? Maybe you've never even seen the circle block though. Are you gonna wear a blindfold and not look for it? Or maybe force that square block into the hole till its mangled up enough to go? You can't know what you don't know basically and the only way you will learn is when you place yourself in a different place. I've learned it doesn't even have to be an uncomfortable place either, just something different or new, cuz that brings on more new things and new reflections. It also brings on different drives and excitement and that can change you or make you feel different as well. It can even bring you down a path that becomes the right one to get through the road that we don't want to travel on. For relationships, I think this was what finally got me success there. I marry in February next year and life is now nothing like I thought I'd ever achieve. Also patience is a good thing to have, but infinite patience is not. I honestly think as long as you are comfortable with finances the way they are, or aren't aiming to quit entirely by a set date or set amount of money, then streaming less and shrinking those numbers a bit would do you no harm so that you can take time to feel better and fulfill your own dreams. Don't be a thing for people on the internet, because 99% of us do not matter at the end of the day, and you do. I think you agree that none of us are really the end goal. Everyone has to have some amount of self-importance so that they are able to help others. It doesn't work the other way around unfortunately. Thanks for sharing, I think you've got a lot of guts to be open like that. I've got a completely different perspective on who you are now compared to the online façade that people portray you as. I look forward to watching you some more and even continuing to work on myself vicariously through you.

People are going to laugh at this, specially since I'm older than Dantes. But seeing you overcome your challenges, get better. And the couple of serious videos you have posted giving an inside of what has been on your mind this last year, has taught me so much about not only my life, but life in general. It may seem stupid to say this, but I'm proud to said that watching Dantes Doanel has legitimaly changed my life for better. :)

Considering something: Everybody is stupid aka ignorant of it until they learned more than the one they are comparing themselves to. People who laugh at ignorance are themselves ignorant - they do not understand what the process of learning means. Being ignorant of matters is only natural independent of age. Even if you experience every day more than anybody else, you will still be ignorant of something. I am happy you managed to improve your life; Keep going!

It feels so weird listening to this because even though my life has been incredibly different to yours, there's the same thought process, the same endless spiral of introspection (?), the same way of viewing things and progress, to a point where everything Dr.K mentioned I can apply to myself. And yet I wonder if I'm not just a little ahead, since I expect what's coming from Dr.K seeing those spirals I do in your words, but I think that's due to being a spectator of the moment. I wonder if all this is due to the, scratch that, I'm convinced all this is due to us growing surrounded by internet, social media, etcetera, combined to a specific percentage of people. But it might just be everyone, and that's a whole lot scarier and yet... hopeful. In any case it was incredibly informative, thx for posting the video man.

Very interesting and eye opening. I've been in the league scene ever since 2012 and had no idea who you were before this video and looks aside, what you said and responded to dr.K was just, let's say very different! and I felt you dearly. The amount of self reflection is something very precious and ever since the first minutes I realized you were kinda like me, reflective af but lost in figuring out the true identity and what drives you forward aka your core value. I felt like this was the best interview Dr.K had but then I realized it's because I've grown a lot and I can see many things about myself in you. then I realized all of his interviews were brilliant simply because of the individual factors that play such huge roles in our lifes that we tend to forget, our upbringings and things we've experienced influence lots of our decisions later in life even though we might think we're in full control, we'll always get surprised how much we actually aren't and how much we can work towards it. At 01:41:14 someone in chat mentions: "This doctor acts like he knows what he's talking about hwen in reality it's all opinion based" I'd say no shit? but in all seriousness it's what they ACTUALLY do... they do like few percentage of the work and the rest is on us! Last appointment with my doc after I talked about my beliefs he mentioned this: "what do you think we do here? nothing really! only to make you believe and continue while learning few lessons here and there, that's all" Dr.K and other docs don't do magic, here he didn't do anything particularily amazing just stated the facts and emphasized on things that were there and were obvious to the person but the key word here is emphasizing and making it bold. For example how often were we all told all these stuff? nothing new right? but it surely hits differently when you're ready and in that position! and how much it changes you whenever you'Re there in the right time and the right order! Thanks a lot and I mean it, from both perspectives and seeing my older self there is something I wouldn't think would've happened at least not this soon. Wishing you all who's reading this, all the healthiness and success ♥

Funny thing about me watching this VOD of Dantes talking to Dr. K is that I only knew Dantes from popular memes off the internet. Now after watching some compilation clips, jumping into a live one night and now watching this. I can confidently say I am a supporter of Dantes and I think he is probably one of the most down to earth people I have came across on the internet. This whole VOD of him talking about his life and then Dr. K giving him some solutions to his current problems helped me to be more introspective of my own life. And whilst we are not the same person (obviously) and we didn't have similar up bringing and family relationships. I can still relate in some certain aspects. Also on top of that, I have learnt and again allowed myself to be introspective of my own life and take away things from this VOD and overall remined me of this life that I live in and reinforced the "It what it is" mentality to keep carrying on and to learn from past mistakes and improve and to become better overall as a person. TLDR: Didn't know much about Dantes now I do. Learned a lot from VOD. Great stream of Dantes and Dr. K.

To avoid doing something, all I have to do is ignore the possibility of future regret. On the other hand, doing something requires overcoming an activation energy, which is usually my fear of failure or judgement. Upon reflection, I realize that overcoming fear is really about accepting the possibility of future regret. It follows then that once I have identified something I want to do, I simply need to accept the possibility of regretting my actions instead of ignoring the regret of inaction. It's easier to follow through when viewed in this way because of the realization that the possibility of regret will be there either way. I've allowed avoiding actions to provide the illusion of control in the past. I need to accept that I don't always have control and that's okay. I should ground my identity in the direction I choose to go rather than attaching myself to my starting point. To continue to do something, discipline and motivation are required. Discipline and motivation are big words, but they're just that: words. Discipline and motivation will come naturally when you reflect on your actions properly. Take drinking alcohol for example. In the moment, what are the benefits? I would say the primary one is reduced awareness of your fears, resulting in a lower activation energy to partake in group actions, which in turn results in short-term fun and easier social acceptance from fellow drinkers. How about the negatives? Well, you're poisoning your body and damaging your liver. Additionally, the positive I mentioned above becomes a negative in the long-term. You learn to ignore your fears and medicate them with alcohol instead of coming to terms with them... it's just another form of avoidance. It's harder, but you can achieve the same social acceptance without alcohol. I should know... I've been sober for 7 months and lost 60 lbs without changing anything else about my social life. Creating change is hard, and it's scary because choosing to create change in a bad or unoptimized direction is entirely possible. However, nature demonstrates that change is inevitable, so we must adapt or be left behind. In other words, standing still may provide the illusion of safety, but really it just guarantees that life will run you over. Since inaction cannot give you control over your life, the most important thing is to identify which direction you want to move in. I'm still working out the best way to do that, but I believe that trial and error is a good place to start. It's important to remember that just because you've been going one way, it doesn't prevent you from turning around. Additionally, while there might be bad ways to approach life - like inaction or allowing others to manipulate your path for their own benefit - there also may not be a single best path. Nobody has all the answers; we should appreciate diversity, for we paint the picture of human existence together.

I lost myself at 2 last years of a relationship (which lasted 6 years and ended almost a year ago) and started to feel miserable, after one decease I stopped weightlifting and now when I'm kinda normie I can finally appreciate my prior form that I have to grind again (fat percentage 4 years ago was about 14-15 and I had more muscle, now it's about 21). Since my path had a lot of highs (at some point of life I can say I was happy af so I know how it is, btw it was the moment I was the best in my circle, but I had ambition to be a better myself too) and downs and now I'm in the middle, I feel like I can get the balance at some point, but the last year and the future year look like I need to work my ass of to become the best at everything I do while having breaks from time to time to socialize and chill, but I feel and understand your emptiness bro ❤

I related so much to the sentiment of "you are a slave to being in control". I tried so hard to trim down the high and lows in my life that I basically flatlined. I was a "stoic", just letting everything phase by, but I got so much happier when I told people that I love them, that they hurt me, that I felt vulnerable. I let people come into my life even if they were uncertain variables and I let them change me, even if they hurt me.

I've only ever seen clips and destiny crossover takes but I'm here for the growth. I see even more ways to talk to you like dr.k is he's a master at his craft tbh but I'm on the journey as well so for now I'll just sub and comment. This was incredible.

Love the content Doaenel, different stuff but people enjoy it because it shows your human side. I've been through the whole success stage myself, then out of it, except in a bad way because it was that I stopped caring so much I no longer had the motivation that I used to take from the bad to motivate me. Only recently have I began seeing the importance of ALL emotions not just good ones like he was saying... Oh, and all the good league players are fat kids at heart ♥🤣
