Another good video. The studies for different diagnoses are appreciated. I see bupropion got it’s second R back in it’s pronunciation though ;). I do personally like to reach for bupropion first if anxiety isn’t significant, due to less weight gain and sexual side effects, as well as possible help with decreasing food cravings, nicotine/illicit drug use that a large amount of my population tends to have at least one of these cooccurring issues. Wellbutrin has been absolutely **terrible** for my anxiety. It makes me into a live wire, constantly fidgety, can’t sit still, constantly humming or growling to self soothe and makes me make weird faces. I’m getting tf off this.

I have diagnosed SAD and GAD, Bupropion helps with my anxiety, it actually gives me a little bit more self esteem. Was on Sertraline before and it felt terrible, it just blunted my emotions. It helps with anxiety in a different way than SSRIs - at least in my own subjective experiance.

I've been on the escitalopram (lexapro) + buproprion combo. 150mg slow release buproprion and 10mg escitalopram, the buproprion has helped a lot with reducing some side effects of the lexapro.

@@belencita9526 yeah Lexapro definitely made me gain a little bit. I've swapped to Lexapro 10mg at Night and the 150mg Slow release Buproprion in the morning. Helps slightly more with appetite suppressing and sexual side effects imo.

Omg Wellbutrin saved my life. At my peak depression/kinda anxiety I was in the hospital for suicidal ideation. They gave me this med after trying so many other meds. After like 3ish days I felt so much better. I stopped taking it about a month and a half ago because I was doing really good. But I’m now going through a REALLY BAD anxiety patch panic attacks, constant thoughts. My parents, psychiatrist and me think that Wellbutrin really did help my anxiety. I’m starting it again today but this really is like a last hope for me. This med saved my life before and I hope it saves me again. I DEFINITELY do believe this med helps with anxiety but it also can cause it❤❤

@@brettkorenak3721 I’m still re adjusting to it! I’m noticing lights are really bothering me and my vision has been a bit blurry and I’ve been more irritable. I’ve only been on it for a week though! I do remember sorta feeling this way when I first started it. Just know your anxiety MIGHT get way worse before it gets better. Give it at least a couple weeks. This is the only med I truly trust I’ve been on so many others! Goodluck and you can always ask me questions when I was on it before it helped me so so much!

@@IAmLegend9291 It’s going. I’m 2 weeks on the medication and I feel a bit better but I’m still adjusting, it’s my second time on the medication so it will take longer. I’m definitely irritable and I like can never sit still and my senses are heightened which is common starting meds. Gonna give it 2 more weeks and see where we are at. Don’t let this scare you Wellbutrin saved my life before and it’s the only med I have EVER tolerated. If you need anything else just ask me and I’ll respond as so soon as possible ❤️❤️

it's saved my life. I know its cliché and there was once a time i read similar comments and thought "they're so lucky". I had tried everything under the sun and not seen a difference or felt numb. This medicine helped me straight away turn my depression and anxiety dials down. I still feel emotions though, still have bad days. But i am always ok, always able to cope with what's going on, compared to before when every min was painful. I have ADHD though and also take stimulants. Both have been such a turning point for me.

Downregulation and desensitisation combined with increased availability in the synapse is probably going to have a stabilising effect. SSRIs have emotional and physical numbing properties essentially acting as minor tranquilisers. Cutting out the lows but also removing the highs. The same idea can arch to the properties of reuptake inhibitors in general. I do think this would be dosage dependant with less 'stabilising' and different effects at higher dosages. Long term and chronic use is different from the short term and treatment emergent effects. I think it can increase extroversion so it could potentially change the dynamics of the flight, fight, freeze response. Since depression correlates with anxiety, if you can treat depression it could also be the case that you correlate to treating the anxiety by virtue and irrespective of the mechanism of action

The mechanisms is different despite the PEA skeleton, but amph is basically the flagship for "causing anxiety," and yet withdrawal is noted for increased anxiety. Maybe it could do by different mechs. Or in some persons but not others. Or anxiety is too loosely defined to differentiate iatrogenic vs withdrawal "types" of anxiety. Or, it's amph lore that it causes anxiety at therapeutic dose and researchers are biased or afraid to talk nice about a SII chem. Extremely low motivation can also cause distress or even dread in demanding situations, and D2 antagonists have those kinds of effects. It's caveman-like to just impute the same effect to SNDRI/SNDRA w/drawal, but cavemen weren't always wrong about all things. So likely to me it seems over-"activation" anxiety and irritable, short attention span fatigue anxiety are distinct phenomena but are called the same thing.

I was on lexapro for a year and switched to Wellbutrin for my anxiety. I love it so much more and have rarely had to take my other meds for anxiety as needed. I really wish I started this one first but it wasn’t recommended for anxiety. I had zero side affects when switching meds which was shocking considering lexapro put me through the ringer during the first 4 wks.

I am in the same boat. I’m on lexapro for anxiety but I’m sick of the side effects. I want to try Wellbutrin but my Dr says it will make my anxiety worse. If he doesn’t let me at least try it I will get a new doctor. It’s been a year on Lexapro and Ive gained weight and sexual side effects along with always feeling tired.

I have been on it for 2 weeks and then BOOM, nightmares and anxiety throughout the day. I hope it doesn’t get any worse. It’s manageable at this point with my as needed anxiety medication, but I try to avoid that as much as possible. I do take Lexapro and I remember the 4 weeks of hell in the beginning but then I woke up one day and it was gone. I couldn’t even work the anxiety was so bad. So hopefully this is the worst of it for bupropion.

@A.N.A8 it's a winner for me personally honestly. I'm doing so much better. Anxiety that was brought on by the Wellbutrin subsided after the first month. My only complaint is that it's kind of hard to know exactly what drug is providing what effects, I have a suspicion that the Wellbutrin is the one providing me the most relief but I have no real way of knowing without stopping Lexapro, and things have been on such a nice uptick that I have no intention of rocking the boat any time soon.

I take 150mg Zoloft and Wellbutrin XL long term for post-treated OCD, MDD, GAD. It’s great. When I was on lower Zoloft dosing Wellbutrin was too much for me. Now at higher dosing it balances out so well.

It does. Listen to your qualitative data from patients reporting worsening anxiety symptoms. It's also "activating." I'm just going to say my experience on it was very "energizing." When I get hopped up, I get anxious, and a lot other of people do, too. It's not a difficult hypothesis to put together with existant data. Drugs have side effects and that's okay. I do not understand why there is this push to suddenly try to sweep this under the rug. You want us to treat you like scientists but when confronted with data you instead choose to create a long-winded video explaining why it's "complicated." But it's not....
