The key to avoiding these psychological effects is ensuring that you do not let them get close. Love you Uncle Chael. Legend

To add on to that you should also dodge their punch with a slip into a double leg. Preferrably with flip flops on for added efficency

When you are no longer afraid of allowing yourself to be vulnerable, is when you can start to gain "True" strength. I wrote this when I was overcoming substance abuse years ago. It just popped into my mind, I thought of the natural flow of the seasons and stuff and you can visualize the ups and downs nature has to go through for it in order to flourish in the spring time, but it must embrace the fall and winter and rainy days and see that they benefit you even if you can't tell that day, it benefits you. Its like learning how to convert negativity into fuel for creativity.

I had a baseball game in high school when I had been sick the day before, was throwing up and barely got any sleep, I told my coach before the game not to send me to steal if I got on base, because I wasn't sure if I could run. And on the first pitch of the game I launched a massive homerun over the scoreboard, it was the furthest homerun I hit in my whole life. Uncle Chael speaks the truth, as usual.
@usernamepassword9091
@usernamepassword9091 Жыл бұрын
I'm British so I don't understand baseball but I think that means you did REALLY good when you felt like shit, right? For some reason I can see that working, not sure why or how to explain it. Maybe because you have lower expectations of yourself than you usually would in that moment and as a result, you experience less pressure 🤔 You have a great day anyway man, all the best 😊☮️❤️

I love you Uncle Chael, but Bisping has spoken about this, he was hungover when he got the call. He was waayy overweight and immediately went for a run. He literally said he learned that he’d gone into every other fight overtrained because wanted it so bad. The short notice didn’t give him time to do that. It’s a great story from the second best MMA storyteller of all time.

That was a really great historical lesson about the belt. The belts all start out white, but how much work and defeats and the lessons learned reflects in the belt. WOW, mind blown! So basically, following the old tradition, if you see a person with a belt that is black, you KNOW they have been to Hell and back! They are hella experienced and they've earned it!

Football is a sport where people will play through most injuries. In college, during one game (not even a postseason game) I played with a torn labrum, torn extensor tendon, high ankle sprain, and a broken bone in my foot. I wasn't the only guy either out there battling through injuries. By the end of the season, we would joke that one or two sprains would mean we were playing at 100%.

This business, + a lot of other sports too, are the worst thing that you can do for your mental health. I am not even talking about brain damage here, I'm talking about the toxic fans, the uncertainty of fighting, the low salaries, the INSANE ups and downs and the media pressure. Only the strongest mentally can get through this without changing drastically. GSP and Usman come to my mind.

I've been seeing this more in sports today. A lot of coaches are ditching some of the "toughen up buttercup!" Mentality. It's happening in sports all over the spectrum. Coaches are investing in athlete mental health. You can be elite but if your mental health is shit... you're over worked and over stressed... you're only going to perform as well as your health wil allow.

Can you talk about how at UFC lightweight, probably the best division in MMA, the guys ranked #8-#15 aren't fighting or at least have no plans on being booked for this summer? It's like half the division. also, what do you do with Gregor Gillespie if he continues refusing to fight anybody ranked any lower than him? Like his win against Yancy Medeiros was good but like this guys never beaten anybody inside the top 10, he beat Diego Ferreira like a year ago and he's like top 15ish. He's a wimp to me, not because he's scared of the top guys, but because he's scared of losing to someone he's supposed to beat. He doesn't wanna risk putting what he's achieved on the line, like his number 8 ranking and a decent place to negotiate a fight with a higher ranked fighter from. kinda bullshit tho like why should he of all fighters get to only fight fights that benefit him more than anybody? UFC aint benefitting he's the opposite of marketable, like straight up invisible to the casual and just annoyingly inactive, stubborn and arrogant to the hardcores, not to mention I cant think of him without thinking of Kevin Lee giving him headache of the year
