Razputin Aquato, trained acrobat and powerful young psychic, has realized his life long dream of joining the international psychic espionage organization known as the Psychonauts! But these psychic super spies are in trouble. Their leader hasn't been the same since he was kidnapped, and what's worse, there's a mole hiding in headquarters. Raz must use his powers to stop the mole before they execute their secret plan--to bring the murderous psychic villain, Maligula, back from the dead!

I'm making this a pinned comment if I can but Psychonauts 2 is not an Xbox exclusive title although there are enchancement for Series X. It will release on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Linux, and PS4. That latter part means it will ~also~ be backwards compatible with PS5. So don't worry! You will be able to play on pretty much all possible platforms.

I'm super new to this game, so seeing the original fans be so excited is awesome. I had heard Psychonauts was a great game so I played through it a month or so ago and absolutely loved it, will replay soon! Then literally a few days after having beaten it I saw there will be a sequel and I thought "hey perfect timing, it's like I don't even have to wait" haha.

It will-- I backed the project and get semi-regular updates, and they're now focused on last minute things like cleaning up minor bugs before day one. The game is basically done otherwise, and they've been set on a 2021 release date since the latter half of 2020.

I played the first Psychonauts game 7 years ago in early 2014 as a PS2 Classics digital download on my PS3 console during it’s cross Gen years with the PS4 console during it’s launch years back then, and I already wish that Psychonauts 2 should also at least get a Switch Port too, I’ve played a couple of my PS4 games on my older Brother’s PS4 console over the years since then, but after having been a Switch Owner playing a lot of physical and digital games on my Switch console for a year and six months since I got myself my own Switch Console on Christmas Day 2019, I’ve become a Switch Console fan these days and wish to play this game on the Switch one of these days, if Xbox Game Studios these days were willing to make a Switch port of that game or a Switch Compilation of the main two Psychonauts games that is.

I just finished Psychonauts 1 and tbh, I felt like it left a few unanswered questions. I honestly didn't even know that a Psychonauts 2 was even coming out and I'm hyped for it. The first one was good and I'm hoping the 2nd one is even better.

I'm waiting for that PS4 version! We backed the Fig campaign at a level that got us a copy of it, so it's already bought and paid for. (I was, frankly, a little worried when I saw that only Microsoft-owned platforms were mentioned in this trailer)

My friend just got me to play the first game the other day, and I couldn't put it down. Everything from the gameplay, the bizarre story, charming characters, the dark themes, hilarious dialogue, the music, and the whacky art style and character designs made me immediately fall in love with it. The sequel seems to pretty much carry what made the first game so special and more.

I absolutely can't wait for this. Is there any chance we could see a remaster of the original, perhaps using the new engine used for Psychonauts 2? The original still holds up well, but it could use at least a remaster. Update the graphics, polish the gameplay, that sort of thing. Not a full remake like Resident Evil 2, just a remaster to polish things up.

One more thing... Apologies, I'm not as crazy as I sound lol. Psychonauts on PS2 was the first order I ever placed myself to get in the mail, with my own money. I was like 9 or 10, Around 2005, on Amazon!, funny enough and was waiting for what felt like forever to get it in the mail. Now we get a sequel all these years later. What a joy. It made me fall in love with games as an art form, rather than just a childhood hobby or distraction. Very much looking forward to it!

I honestly wish that Psychonauts 2 would also get a Switch Port too, I know it’s on both PlayStation and Xbox Consoles but I’d like to play this game on the Switch for the diverse play style purposes of playing it on the Big TV screen in TV Mode, Tabletop mode if I wanted to use my JoyCons to play it at a restaurant or at a hotel, and even in handheld mode if I wanted to play it in a classic handheld game console styled old fashioned way too. I got to download and play the first Psychonauts game as a PS2 Classic digital title on my PS3 console 7 years ago in January 2014 during the PS3’s cross Gen years with the PS4 during it’s Launch Years, and I really took a liking to that game so much, that I even started waiting for years since Psychonauts 2 showed off it’s crowdfunding teaser trailer so many years ago. Gotta wait for the digital foundry analysis of the versions, because we see what developers are doing to PS4 games running on PS5. Of course, it's easier to code BC on Xbox, but basically developers are not even trying to update for BC of PS4 games running on PS5, and this will probably be a worst case scenario, since they were bought out by Microsoft.

House biscuit never preorders video games (Especially not from Double Fine). But I'll happily check reviews and order once it's out. Looks like they've nailed the character of the original, hopefully they'll do the same with the gameplay and story.
