Exactly. And btw, there is no pill any psychiatrist can give to instill empathy in a child who has none. As an empath myself, my heart is beyond grieved that this is happening to my child. I think it has a definite genetic component because my child is exactly like their other parent and they haven't even been together in over a decade because of separation.

When i got to the age where i started thinking for my self i started showing psychopathic behaviors but this has been reinforced through being bullyed, being abused in an abusive relationship and many other thibgs through my life. So i would say it is made and genertics. I would say if i havnt been through what i have been i wouldnt be a psychopath and narcissistic. But tbh what i belive i am doesnt matter

Thank you! this has helped me study for my psychology degree! A few people mentioning that these studies are not true and my response to that is: the premise of psychological research is to debate the causes and theory behind certain concepts. That’s the beauty of it :D

I've reached out for help a thousand times or more. Literally. If these social workers, doctors, nurses, mental health professionals didn't think themselves as demigods and "mandated reporters" and listened these children's lies and manipulation garnered to get their way and to gain attention, but instead actually HELPED us deal with the budding narcissism beneath it all, DCFS/CPS would NOT be getting involved and effectively shutting these parents down. Because when push comes to shove, who wants to keep asking for help when you're being called a perpetrator every time and accused of crimes you did not commit? At some point, you just have to pick your battles. This ideology really upsets me because I want NOTHING but the best outcome for my children, but if the only option becomes that when I seek help I'm punished, and my child is in danger of greater attachment problems and greater conduct disorders because they will be removed from the home, then how does that positively affect my child's future? The real perpetrators of this madness need to be stopped. They are a law unto themselves and are destroying families and children's lives forever.

scary, isn't it, those supposedly in the know having popwers to act and cause harm on their limited understanding. I love that this woman is teaching the occasional child has a poor impact on parents instead of the other way around. Also concerns me still claiming that parents are the cause of bad behaviour, as that's a blaming pattern. Over all though, a brilliant pattern of research and thought, and in spite of the worst audio I have ever heard anywhere, a great and important speech. I would love a transcript to over come the audio. I dealt with kids with shocking behaviours. The worst turned out to be caused by a low thyroid hormone problem, and completely fixable. It has given me such insight into what parents can deal with, that I have endless empathy. The teen years have been so exciting, that our educations have been stopped, but at least the children live and have hope for the future. I empathise with you.

Kudos for the Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you thought about - Trentvorty Kids Science Theorem (google it)? It is a great one off product for becoming an excellent parent minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate after a lifetime of fighting got amazing results with it.

The speaker and much of her ilk are way behind the times in their theories of 'cause and effect.' Did she ever consider genetic factors? And physiology: diet/food sensitivities; infections [Candida, parasites, Lyme, mycotoxins/mold; viruses]; heavy-metal poisoning; hormone issues [thyroid; reproductive, etc.]. Examining the gut-brain connection re behavior and mental illness is as (or more) useful than psychiatry ever has been or ever will be.

They cannot legally diagnose a child as a psychopath so they use the term conduct disorder. Psychopaths are not made, they are born. Environmental factors do not playing to contact disorder

Why is it so hard to find help for parents or caregivers of children with these issues. I need help. Hospitals won't help. The court system won't help. They are my boyfriends kids and there mom ruined them. Mom is no longer involved. But they have been in my home 3 months now. I have had to change my home because no truth is ever told. They both kill animals. If you have a good resource for how to run the home.... please help!! These kids are now teenagers.

Thanks for the question! It is a combination of being born with certain behaviors as well as things one experiences while growing up. So, being born with particular ways of behaving might make it more likely that your parents, peers -- just the social environment around you -- will treat you differently which then might make you more callous, unemotional, psychopathic, etc.

Yes. That's true of much of our behavior, if one thinks about it. So, to see things with our eyes, we need to open them and experience a lot of visual stimulation. Same with psychopathy. A person might be born with temperament traits that become triggered to full-blown psychopathy by a certain environment around the person. (I appreciate the discussion - thanks)

It is neurological like autism. People are born that way and always stay that way. However, people that have been badly hurt can behave in ways that mimic a psychopath and their ability to make emotional bonds and feel empathy will be affected because our mind protects itself as well as it can. Researchers looking for cures are wasting resources. There is no cure. The only motivating factor is self-interest and Robert Hare (the father of psychopathy research) has started a prison program that treats psychopaths separately based on self-interest. He found that including psychopaths in the programs for normal people simply made them more dangerous as they learned more skills on 'how to pass', show false remorse and so on.

I have a friend raising a callous child that enjoys the reactions of his horrible behavior. there's a smaller child in the home & it seems normal that precautions are taken to ensure thier never alone together because they accept that he will inflect serious injury upon her. ever hear the term BAD SEED?if I had to spend a week w/ this child,I'd be at my wits end as is his mother & I love children. one of his favorite little gam3s is to try to shot u in the eye w/ one of his netflix guns & gets much joy from succeeding
