When most people think of psychopaths they think of Hannibal Lecter or The Joker. These are "bad" "full blown" psychopaths. Psychopathy operates on a scale so there are people that are high on the psychopathy scale who have only the good traits of psychopaths . What are these traits? How can you acquire them? How can you become A Friendly Successful Psychopath?
Meet this perfect fusion of geniousity and creativity who is not just the first Mind Map Trainer of Mumbai but has also been blazoned a 'Genius' by Tony Buzan - Mind Map Inventor and Nobel Peace Prize Nominee. He is a pure gem

honestly its nice for someone to talk about how people who suffer from psychopathy can use their mindset for public benefit, instead of basically saying anyone with these traits might as well be a serial killer. definitely one of the most insensitively handled and stigmatized set of traits to be labeled an illness.

They thought ppl with psychopathic traits were good for company's but turned out that although they made cutthroat decisions when it came to business they also affected the employees in a massively negative way that was not worth it. He thinks it's cool to be a psychopath so he self diagnosed on a website probably not answering the questions honestly but selectively so that he would be able to brag how much a a good psychopath he is. He is a narcissist that's insecure not a confident psychopath.

Yeah a lot of narcissists have mistaken themselves as psychopaths. I've met nice psychopaths, and they really don't make a fuzz about it. One psychopath I've known became a midwife and not a CEO, but she's confident and satisfied with what she does. She doesn't care about wether society perceives her as "successful" or not. But it's because she grew up in a wealthy and sheltered family. If she had more hardships in childhood (poverty, violence, abuse, crime), she could've become a sadistic killer or a ceo or politician.

A strenuous mental exercise would be to try to see the world and existence through the eyes of a psychopath. This makes me think of when I first read INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE by Anne Rice. Until that book I realized that every story and myth about vampires that I had been exposed to was written from a victim's and/or human point of view. Anne Rice had created a world through the eyes of vampires. I don't endorse psychopathic behavior but I think I've learned a little on how their minds work.

Don’t psychopaths only do good deeds for something in return? They treat people like business transactions. “I did this for you so now you owe me” mentality. Him even saying “the longer you take to get your “return investment” the value of your good deed you did decreases over time” proves it. That’s manipulative. Psychopaths never do anything just for being nice. Psychopaths only ever do something nice when they want something from you.

ok, he lost me at the point he said "I am a good psychopath" given the fact that narcissism is a crucial part of psychopathy. to clarify, a narcissist would be expected to say he's the good one. even when the reality is the opposite. that and positive traits of psychopathy are always presented as beneficial in very specific and simplified scenarios. try being a child of not even a full blown psychopath in the real world. little chance you'll become a mentally healthy adult. even if you don't inherit the genes

I can't understand why narcissistic personality disorder gets confused with psychopathy all the time. There are psycopahts, narcissists and psychopathic-narcissist, with the latter being just a subset of the wider psychopaths group. So, no, narcissism is not a crucial part of psychopathy but it is of narcissistic-psychopathy.
@anniestaes430

depends on how we preceive narcissism. They surely aren't Always ego maniacs, but they all do show a tendency to think that their criteria upon which they form thoughts, actions and reactions are better then those of the people they compete with or in general. This is often why they attack other peoples criteria, which is a very dangerous and damaging assault. Our criteria by which we run our lives are very key to the quallity of our lives. Atleast this is my take on your question.

You cant self diagnose yourself as a psychopath, sociopath, or someone having aspd. Especially over a website. It doesn't matter who makes the website, it doesnt take a small portion of a day to be diagnosed. Even professionals can't diagnose someone as a psychopath, sociopath, or someone having aspd or borderline aspd traits in just a day.

There are 2 types of empathy . Hot empathy - where someone feels what you are feeling . Cold empathy - where someone understands what you are feeling but does not feel what you are feeling . If you lose your leg in an accident what would you prefer your lover do at that time ? Capriole around like a headless Usain & be entirely useless & maybe dangerous to you Or would you prefer your lover to behave like Spock & urgently reduce your pain & take you to a doc immediately . Psychopaths are great at cold empathy
@LLCisyouandme
@LLCisyouandme 7 жыл бұрын
Understanding being the relative term. The practical reality is that what you're characterizing as "cold empathy" more often takes the form of "I see you respond particularly emotionally to X." When I want to elicit an emotional response in order to get what I want from you I'll do X. And you can count on that emotion being one of those that brings the most immediate results--a base emotion like hate or fear or sadness. Your entire scenario is couched in language that appeals to the non-narcissist. Psychopaths are not lovers, they are abusers. Spock (a fictional character) was not someone without empathy, he was someone who through rationality did not let it lead him to do the wrong thing, by his precept of "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." Psychopaths believe their needs outweigh *all other considerations.* If I lost my leg, I would not be counting on a psychopath to be able to disentangle himself from some selfish peccadillo to even recognize my distress.

psychopathy and psychopathic traits exist on a continuum. countries/regions have varying diagnostic criteria for psychopathy. to observe someone as a "psychopath" or "not a psychopath" assumes an arbitrary set of definitions and diagnostic criteria. there's a distinction between factor 1 psychopathy and factor 2 psychopathy in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, which is used in USA.

When people see dying people half way across the world on a tv commercial they might say some words to reflect their sadness but thats because of how we have been raised. In our hearts most of us dont care about others wellbeing unless their close. If we did a poll in the UK and asked to choose between having no mobile phones or internet unless strictly for work or saving 1 billion people in a foreign country.. what would the true answer be and not the fake answer we would give in front of others. I am a highly sensitive empath who can do many things at once because I have a greater capacity to use the sensitivities of my body, neurological system, and brain in tandem with cognitive awareness and motor skill. He says that you can not really do more than one thing at once. In my experience developing myself with my heightened abilities, that is not the entire truth. Some tasks DO require switching when they require laser concentration but there are often times when I am using two hands in tandem for two different tasks at the very same time and do them well. i think this is a case of the speaker being limited in his understanding of the expansive ways a person can map themselves and condition themselves to be ambidextrous in both motor skill and in multitasking.

Lmao - only a psychopath could think that overeating can be cured that easily! Seriously though, this talk was...quite thought provoking. And while I do appreciate the points you're making... isn't your giving advice to 'normal' people a little like a cat advising a bunch of dogs? I mean, we are what we are...and we tend to act accordingly. I do wonder though, why you choose to 'out' yourself as a psychopath? I mean, you can't have done it because your (presumably nonexistent) consciousness told you to. Are the advantages of volunteering to join the 'freakshow' (so to speak, and I mean no disrespect here) outweigh the disadvantage of people being aware of your condition (which must surely make it harder to manipulate or take advantage)? It would seem to me, that a true psychopath (even one acting within the confines of the law) would want to avoid detection at all cost. I wish your talk had been about that...it would have been far more interesting than the things you did point out - which weren't exactly groundbreaking news to anyone watching TedTalks for a while.

I'm very interested in these psychopaths who aren't criminals. I can't help correlate psychopathy with criminal behavior. It's always going to be a challenge distinguishing those with psychopathic traits, and those who are using psychopathy to gain attention. In most cases, i don't think there's any reason for a psychopath to admit he is a psychopath. This is just due to how tainted the word has become. I have seen people admit to psychopathy that i do believe to be right. But even so, it's hard to say. It's important to look at the few cognitive deficits of psychopathy. Asking them about what they feel, and what they don't feel. Asking them to describe certain emotional responses. What is their view on other people's emotions. And listen to their tone of voice as they're talking. You should be able to tell that something is a bit off. Atleast in some cases. Listen for a monotone voice that lacks much depth in it's tone. A so called disconnect between what the person is saying, and feeling while saying it. If a person is just talking with the same tone pitch throughout the whole sentences, then perhaps he's got some emotional deficits. I don't think this guy is a "full blown" psychopath. But it's very easy for anyone to adopt certain psychopathic traits into their lifestyle. What i'm not detecting is the shallow affect. Shallow affect is thought to be part of the genetic component of psychopathy. Also, he took one test and self diagnosed himself based on that. It takes more than that to get a proper diagnosis.

as far as i know what we call with psychopathy (it's on ASPD group on DSM 5) caused by genetic, there's certain part of their brain that make them lacking empathy, oc that's just one of the traits and it has to be several traits come simultanously and continously to diagnose someone as psychopath, so if lacking empathy is the major part of a psychopath i think there's no good psychopath, bcs even they are very successful ppl, they get everything with a way that we might never want to do like "i'm gonna win the game no matter what, even if i have to break his leg", correct me if i'm wrong and sorry for my bad english

@@goldfishon-steroids4946 I disagree. I think most people try and be decent people but make mistakes sometimes based on the circumstances and definitely our upbringing. Healthy people can make sincere apologies and try and do better. If everyone acted like a narcissist or a sociopath the world would end pretty quickly. We are heading in that direction as more people become like that. Narcissists and sociopaths think everyone thinks like them. Just like I use to assume everyone thought like me and was a somewhat decent person. I WAS WRONG. Life experience has let me deal with many narcissists and sociopaths. They have been the worst experiences of my life and I'm lucky to still be around.

I don’t think this man is a psychopath I’m hear watching videos about personality disorders trying to figure out why I do the things I do repetitively and have traits of all the triad yet there’s important ones in each I don’t have I’m sure a internet test cannot self diagnose these pd I’m successful but want to understand why I have little to no remorse for hurting people I love whilst also wanting to look after the people I love but feel like I’m constantly having to remind myself to do it. I think if you really have a personality disorder like this you either stay hidden with no desire to change or seek therapy to understand and learn to how to control your urges to use people for gain without concern of the cost. Seeking therapy is very tricky as someone with these traits will try to manipulate it into a situation where they are told they are okay and then keep doing what they want. However if you understand it and really want to be a good person you don’t need to have empathy or remorse not to hurt people just understand that it’s not the right thing to do.

As a 7x diagnosed type 1 aspd+p (psychopathy) by the US Dept of Justice, FBI and several mental health organizations, and turning down interviews from CNN, TedX, FoxNews, TLC, Dr. Phil, I can tell you, you CANNOT test yourself for psychopathy. Dharmendra Rai is a little different as he had already been diganosed. if you think you have psychopathy, go see a real psychiatrist, NOT a therapy counselor. I burned down a house at 7 years old just to see what burned bodies looked like. At 12 I strangled my neighbors dog and dissected it and properly labeled it. Why? I was bored.

AMERICAN PSYCHO AMAZON REVIEW BY DHARMENDRA RAI 1 Star I m psycho about psychopaths . I saw American Psycho - was rather underwhelmed - yet picked up this book . I thought the inner dialogue would be more instructive & entertaining than the one in YOU . Gosh it was the total opposite . 400 pages of drivel ! So why did I not give it up ? Do I suffer from the sunk cost fallacy ? No . I like to read everything that may be significantly connected to psychopaths fiction & non fiction . That is my curse or blessing .If it is not yours don t waste your time with this book . The movie seemed to be going nowhere . It was like some guys just fooling around with a camera & probably on weed . But 2 things interested my 1 ) Chritian Bale did a fantastic job - his career best probably . I think he did BATEman far better than BATman ! I can never put Chris Nolan up there with David Fincher or Spielberg coz his sense of casting sucks but that s a story for another day . Fun fact BATMAN is mentioned on page 198 . Bale specially shines in the scenes where he has outbursts of anger - subtly - as in the biz card scene & loudly - as in the bum kill scenes 2 ) It was a refereshing take on psychopaths . Normally psychopath killers tend to be loners & not in high positions coz then they can kill undetected & also have time to do so . Here Pat is GQ personified . Also this is a dark comedy . Not dark enough & funny in very few scenes alas . But the scope was intriguing to me The author is the laziest one in the world . He just keeps desribing brand names over & over again . We get the point that this gent is brand obsessed, money obsessed , he 's a shallow scumbag et al . We don t need chapters that have more brands that a Cosmo magazine over & over again to get the point . At some points I literally felt he s done a copy paste . There are so many parts where he just drones on about the brands & objects in the room that there is a feeling of stagnation The Dry Clean scene is nother good one which one enjoys in the book because it is done very well in the movie It is a microscope held on to nothing . Magnifies nothing into more nothing & soon you feel nothing in your brain . There is no origin story as to why Pat became that way . Not a single other character is fleshed out . Its written in first person other than some switches in & out at the end trying to show the mental confusion in the character . Homeless people & women are victims . Whatever the message & story he could have done in it in under 200 pages . Brevity is the sould of wit , but the author alas is a twit ! I could go on but I have to leave . Dinner at Dorsia !
