Howdy fellow adventurers, Wavey and I finally got a chance to go on a TW200 Adventure. We rode approximately 800 miles around Michigan, with much of it being dirt roads. We like it! Part:2 coming shortly...

When I had my V Strom, the best seat improvement onba budget was a deer stand pad from walmart. It was about 1.5" thich and about 16"x16". It kept me from spending money on a seat. They tend to be pricey.

Great video about the speed, I put a 47 tooth sprocket on rear and I got to say, I cruise all day between 60 and 65 mph, rpms stay low and bike vibration is not bad at all.Oh one more thing get rid of the stock front tire it's called the deathwing and for good reason. I have a 140×80×18 on front of my bike, quite large but I like it, looking forward to next vid .

In regards to the "drive-in" window speaker, usually drive-ins had a radio syation broadcasting the films audio. This way the cars could tune their radio in and have great sound. In the town i grew up in, Valparaiso indiana, southern tip of lake michigan, we had a drive in thats still in operation. It is called, the "49er drive-in".

@@backwatersandbackroads Try to keep the weight down to a minimum especially if you plan to not skip Imogene, Engineer, or Bear Creek Pass in Colorado. There are you tube videos of jeeps crashing down the side of Bear Creek. I believe you told me heights bother you and none of the you tube videos give a true picture of what the drop offs really look like when you are actually there. Also picking up the motorcycle fully loaded gets heavier after the third time.

As I get older, a bike like that is very attractive...I have had many different ones....have a KLR now, but even it seems like a top heavy beast....I'm really thinking about a TW or XT250....TW the small gas tank is just dumb design...even 2.5gal would have been better, preferably 3gal.

Would love to hear your comparison on a DR200 and the TW200. Great trip!
@backwatersandbackroads
@backwatersandbackroads 9 ай бұрын
Sure! Very similar. The DR200se is a little quicker and has a little more legs on thr top end. Definitely squirrelier in the dirt and sand. The TW200 stays up right so easy on gravel roads I can film and ride at the same time :) the one thing I didn't like about the DR200 (and I had 3 over rhe years) the stupid petcocks always leak! You can't get a good one. Not even new. They will drain fuel into the crankcase until ita coming out the air cleaner onto the floor! The only thing that could be done is an I line shut off valve. Dumb!! Why they couldn't fix that simple issue is a mystery. Both great small do anything (slowly) bikes. I'd take either one.

Fuel range is definitely an annoying issue with the TW. That one is set up nice! For my TAT run I put a little windshield (actually I think it was a face shield off a harbor freight grinding mask? Anyways that helped for highway riding more than you would think. I can't remember the sprocket combo I went with but I could do 60 all day and rode it on the freeway from Duluth to Oklahoma, and after the TAT from Oregon to Duluth. We found out on the TAT that in really sticky mud that low hugging front fender impacted with mud and wouldn't let tire turn. Had to remove fender and mounted it to a rack I had above the tire. Kinda looked cool. I loved my TW. I can send you some more fun pics.

Yes! Please do Nate. You have my contact info. Any plans to finish the TAT? I plan on going coast to coast. Sooner than later. Love the TW200! I hear Clark makes a bigger tank. Definitely adding a wind screen. If you can remember the sprocket combo for 60 all day long...that's what I'm looking for. Having that option is nice when you need it.

@@backwatersandbackroads I don’t think you’re going to be doing high mountain passes soon but it ran terribly higher than 5000 feet but that’s just a jetting issue. (Maybe bring some jets if you climb high up ) and also with that sprocket combo there was one mountain pass I couldn’t do. (Because it wasn’t jetted for alpine ) and I had to ride all the way down the montain and go around. But I’m talking really steep and really high. I’ll send you some pics. I’ll search for my build receipts and see if I can figure out what combo I did. I might have a spare tube I just found yesterday I’d like to give to you. It’s huge. (Rear tire ) I have an owners manual to give away but I assume you have that too. Also when I did all those mikes on that trip several bolts vibrated loose. Foot peg, motor mount bolt , and a rack bolt all came out and I had to lock tight them.
