I'm super stoked to start this project! Ill be ls swapping my 2008 Saab 9-3 aero sportcombi dad wagon with an ls4 junkyard engine out of a 08 Impala ss. Ill be using the 6 speed manual transmission from the car, and it already bolts up!
Hopefully, all goes well and we can get it running and driving pretty soon! I know to wire this thing is probably going to be a headache but hopefully, it comes out nice and works how I like!

Someone had done a 9-3 wagon with a v10 viper a few years back. Cool thing about this is it will actually be usable power

Ray Walters the thing about that v10 Saab is that they didn’t really swap a viper v10 into a Saab, the dropped the shell of a Saab on top of a viper chassis. There’s a whole build thread if you google it, very interesting project and very cool because it keeps all the viper suspension, brakes, etc so it handles and drives like a viper but looks like a Saab.

I've read and seen someone swapped a Viper V10 into a Saab wagon too, lots cutting, fab work, and welding. Looked good.

2019 goals: 2004 WRX as tuned daily. Drive 1997 Eclipse GSX to DSM shootout. 2001 Impreza 2.5RS V10 swapped and driving. 1985 MR2 SR20 swapped and driving. 100K subs. Gonna be a busy year! FYI: you should be able to take the front transfer case from any xwd 9-3 and fit it to your f40. Also the sedan and sportcombi have the same wheelbase so if you do find a parts car that isn’t a Combi you can use the driveshaft and all the parts. Only difference between the Combi and sedan are the rear brakes. One thing to be aware of with xwd is that the rear struts and springs are specific and it will be pretty difficult to add in the auto leveling rear struts (which also fail quite often) so your best bet for that would probably be coilovers. This is going to be an awesome project and I can’t wait to see the progress!

This is exactly why I own a Flex Ecoboost. Granted, it probably weighs half a ton more than this, but it was also very easy to make 400 hp with a MAP sensor and a tune. Very cool build though. I'm jealous of the lightness and the manual transmission that this will have.

Love what you're doing, simply amazing! This swap has some seroius potential. Two years ago I sold my last Saab after owning many over the last 15 years and said I'd never own another. Here I am now currently in the process of trying to buy a 2009 9-3 aero xwd sportcombi with a 6 speed manual. There is something about these cars i can't let go. Keep up the great content! Gonna be pretty cool, if you want the rest of the bolt holes lined up, you could cut the top of that saab bell housing out and the top of the original one to match, tig it all together. Or just send it like it is ha. Good luck with the project!
