Thanks for the test. That PRC shot was devastating to that gel block.

few days ago I've shot a red deer calf with CE maximus 6.5 creed. Behind shoulder and touches shoulder a little bit. There was a lot of meat damage. Masive trauma.

Thank you for sharing your experience. The Maximus line was designed to start expanding at lower velocities and dump more energy. The way they come apart I would expect massive trauma. If the damage to meat is too much and you are not liking how they work then I would consider trying Hammer Bullets as they operate quite well and do not fragment like the Cutting-edge Maximus Bullets.

Have you ever looked into the badlands bulldozer line of bullets?

I haven't. I did have a subscriber send me some. I don't remember offhand what caliber or grain weight but will be getting to them time willing in the next couple weeks.

What size game would you use those 180gr Maximus? Also, will you be testing the CEB 30 cal ERRaptors? I’m torn between the Maximus and the Raptors for my 30-06

I do not have any raptors to test at this time and I haven't tested any. Last couple guns I tried CEB with both had issues with the sealtight band and the guns freebore so I just stay away from them anymore. Hammer are my go to monolithic bullets right now.

@@simplemindedfella You can seat the band just into the neck of the brass without any issues. Try the 175 Badlands Bulldozer also or the 175 LRX. I haven't used the Hammers, but heard mostly good things about them. The badlands are the most technically advanced of these Mono bullets.

Ok I'm unclear specifically on the maximus... So, 7mm's fail? Or it was another model of 7mm? The tip opening on the 7mm is smaller, causing non opening. But 30 cals are ok? Because at the end of this video you said the maximus is a good line?
@jamesmooney5348

Higher velocity should make them open quicker or violently. I would think...

The match tactical hunting in 7mm is what I had unique failures with. It has a smaller meplat then the Maximus line. Maximus bullets are the only bullets from cutting edge that I would recommend. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKqvgo2JaZaUf9E

@@simplemindedfella Did you try their Laser line of bullets (plastic tips) from Cutting Edge. They would be the best for longer range hunting and the Maximus for more closer range. But I think the Laser would be ok from close to far shots. A couple hunting friends used the Lasers and had good success. I have shot animals with both the Maximus and the MTH. Both worked well but i would probably just use a Laser if I would be potentially shooting over 400 yards. The maximus in a 338 or 375 for Africa or NA bears/moose would be about ideal and very similar to a Barnes TSX.

@@gearguidesguns571 I have stopped using Cutting-edge because I have had 3 rifles now that the freebore was too tight for the seal-tight ban. I see no real advantage with it and it causes problems when it is larger than the freebore. With all the options out there that I won't ever have those types of issues I have decided to pass on Cutting-edge.

How can we get up with you to send you some sample bullets to try? If you would like to do that sort of thing?
