So much fun to watch. Thank you. Back in 1965 when I was 11-years old growing up in Anchorage, Alaska several of my 13 year-old classmates rode Honda 50's and Honda 90's ten to fifteen miles to school. In those days Alaska was still a bit wild and having a license was not always a requirement. For example, after a good snow we used to ride our snowmobiles on downtown Anchorage city streets. Today than only be ridden in designated areas far outside the city. Getting my first ride on a Honda was a thrill never to be forgotten. A few years later when I was 14 we moved to Southern California and I convinced my Dad to buy one. It was a 1966 Honda Trail 90, a couple years earlier than your yellow parts bike. Unlike the later red one in your video that used a hi/low switch to change gearing, mine required two different rear wheel sprockets. The only way to go hi or low was to manually take the back tire and chain off and then change the sprocket which was very time consuming. Since I was a kid, I rode that pour little Trail 90 like a moto-cross bike. It responded as expected and I was fixing it as much as riding it. I rode it to high school each day and then work afterwords. Watching your videos brought it all back. Love your attention to detail. At nearly 70 years of age I'm still learning. I've got an old 1950's Cushman scooter that is going to be my next project. After watching how you do it I will have your experience looking over my shoulder. Thanks again.

I learned how to ride motorcycles on my Dad's yellow Trail 90, I think it was a '70. I was 13. It had the larger trail sprocket you could change out with the standard street one for off road and it would climb like a mountain goat and go through about anything. My sister still has it. RIP Dad and thanks for the great memories.

I remember when I bought my Red Honda Trail 90 it had a spark arrestor on the end of the muffler. That is why the end of the pipe is that shape . It was my first motorcycle. I worked for the local A&P part time after school. Saved my money and bought it new. My Father came home and saw it and said, NO , No , take it back. I said I can't I paid cash and the dealer said no returns. He finally gave in and said "If you get "A"s in school you can keep it. ! That never happened. I barely got "C"s. I kept it though. I still have 4 bikes in the garage, 55 years later !

Mustie the Engine Whisperer never disappoints but I really shouldn't stay up until 3 AM all the time :P When I was a kid my dad and I were hiking the creek behind our house and found one of these half buried in silt on the bank. Of course, being maybe 5 years old I wanted to take it home and ride it but Dad wasn't having any of that, although he did let me take one of the front orange turn signal lights as a "souvenir." Lost it in a subsequent move somewhere (or Dad tossed it) but seeing the videos on this and the other Mini Trail makes me very nostalgic! (I need a "big adult sized" bike these days, more Road King than Trail 90, but boy, if I ever have kids...they'll be zooming around on a little Honda for sure.) I don't consider it a KZbin glitch, but a serendipitous act of good fortune for your subs! Regards from TX (where we are most definitely not having "bike weather" at the moment.)

Love the sound with the new exhaust. I would have just purchased a new one to pass yearly inspections we have in Australia for road use. In these bikes with batteries that do not have a starter motor (kick only start) the lead acid battery is a over kill. It never gets used except for the neutral light before starting then gets over charged while the bike is running. On my DT175 with a 12volt system the charging voltage is max 15.5V at 3000 rpm. This is controlled by the rectifier regulator. If the bike is not regularly ridden, then this battery just gets all dried up and then becomes a huge load on the system as its voltage drops below 10V. Then the blinkers (indicators) only flash dimly and slowly and the head light dims in sympathy with the blinkers. Removing the battery and insulating the terminals works ok but then the power is more like DC + some AC and depends on engine revs. and again, nothing works properly at low revs. I also have KTM 200 kick only start it has no battery as standard, it has a 2200uF and 35V electrolytic capacitor in the same spot in the circuit as the DT175 battery all lights blinkers work fine. I have also seen many a youtube videos where users replace the lead acid battery with a electro cap. I have installed in my DT175 one 2200uF and 35V electrolytic capacitor in the same spot as where the battery was in the circuit. This has worked like a charm the blinkers works fast and bright the headlamp does not dim when the blinkers (indicators) are on. I have also not experienced any bulb burnouts. Get a cct diagram for the bike check the charging voltage regulator operation if as per spec install a electro cap.
