Make sure to watch part 1 of this 2 part video! In this video we had a successful day of fishing from shore at lake Mary in mammoth lakes California. Fishing for trout is one of our favorite things to do on our day off. We also love being out in the eastern sierras during the fishing season and lake Mary rarely disappoints! On this windy day we were bait fishing from shore using one of our favorite baits for trout! Come along with us on our fishing adventures and learn how to catch trout!

I took my son up to Mammoth 2 weeks ago, there were bears all over Mary and it was cold,windy and smokey. I still love Mammoth but the crowds are getting to be alot. Last summer we started fishing up at Skelton and Duck lake. Much funner tons of Brookies.
@ExploreNaturesCatch
@ExploreNaturesCatch 3 жыл бұрын
We were probably up there the same time as you. Yeah the crowds were a little ridiculous this season. A lot more people than usual. We encountered the bears basically everyday at lake Mary and George. They were really active. The backcountry lakes are definitely a good way to get away from the crowds that’s for sure! 🎣

Fellow fisher here. You guys should really knock the fish out after catching it. Kind of inhumane to weight it and hook it and slowly let it suffocate. Super easy to just give it a bonk on the head. Always Good to respect the life you just took.

Love the vid! Do you bleed or stun the fish before the stringer? And put it through the gills or mouth? Asking because some of mine escaped!
@ExploreNaturesCatch
@ExploreNaturesCatch 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No we usually just put them on the stringer without bonking or bleeding them. I did have a stringer almost escape one time though 😆. If the fish is really big then sometimes I put 2 of the stringer hooks through the mouth and gill. I have noticed that sometimes the hooks pop open when the fish is big.

I Love Lake Mary. The smell as you enter, the fishing. Center of the Earth as I grew up. Started going in 1959. Stayed in a cabin 2 weeks every year until I moved to Kansas. In 74 i spent my honeymoon at Alpenhof Lodge. As more people have discovered it, the less appealing it has become. No respect for those fishing. Thoughtless in approach to others space. What happened to CA? What happened to our world? At least illegal Dems and DemComs have not overrun Kansas. Have a farm and that is special. Somewhere to hide from snowflakes and wrong thinking, or not thinking, masses.
