The ones getting upset are the 'elite' PRS community members that are offended by the average shooter buying an average rifle with an average scope, who dares to encroach and violate the standard of their 'elite' sport. Just grow TF up guys and get over yourselves!! Thank you Ray, for including and welcoming us average folks to long range shooting! And great job patiently coaching Annastine, she did fantastic!
@Longrange1760Ай бұрын
Come on, the “elite” shooters in any discipline are too busy competing and could care less what anyone else is shooting. Matter of fact, most of the top guys will borrow you their gear and help you get into the sport. It’s the ones that buy a 2500 dollar 338 Lapua setup and don’t shoot it, that talk negative about anyone else doing anything else. Great work on the video! My bro has .308 savage that we wanted to throw another barrel on and get him out shooting more.
@TheLogitech91Ай бұрын
I completely agree. They are upset that you can buy a $500 rifle and shoot out to a mile. As opposed to an $8000 set up.

This commenter is clearly not surrounding himself with elite shooters
@rickschwertner282Ай бұрын
None of the real elite shooters I have squadded with would ever make fun of or look down on another shooters gear especially a new shooter. Maybe the want a be elite would comment but not the real deal elite. If you can sign up for a reagional match in the central region I promise you Dale Rhodes, Matt Carouso, Dan Jareke, Kyle Marsh, Jeremy Vonglahn and many many more will take you under their wing and make you as good as your self motivation will take you. Ray what you exhibited in this video is spot on with what I have witnessed in PRS. This is a great way to grow the sport of shooting and not just PRS.

In the shooting sports discipline it’s all about the challenge , from shooting empty cans with a red Ryder BB gun at 100 feet to any given platform to 1000yards or a mile , competition or recreational fun range day it’s all about the possibility of pushing yourself and the equipment to its limitations and possibilities, so keep doing what you do and showing us how you do it 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼, haters will be haters 🤷🏻♂️. I am in the process of getting a couple of rifles set up for my son and I to shoot PRS. When I look around at the people involved in the sport I see $$$$ rifles and as a family man I can’t do that. It is nice to see you show some relatively inexpensive (comparatively) ways to have a rifle that you can still have a lot of fun and get experience in this sport. I am working with a Howa barreled action in a Trybe chassis and a savage 110 hunting rifle that I am going to put in a second hand chassis and get an Outlier barrel for (based on what I have seen here). Both are topped with Arken scopes. Just trying to have fun with my kids without getting a second mortgage on my house…..

She is a fantastic person at listening and following instructions. This is the kind of student that Ray (such a great teacher) could help become a top female shooter in any number of the competitive shooting currently popular today. There is nothing better than having a female who is at the top of the food chain in their chosen shooting competition. I'd love to see Ray work with a female shooter and track her progress as the competitions get more competitive. I believe with the right student Ray could help train a world champion female shooter..... He's extremely good when teaching young students and seems to be particular good with young women students. At one time, his daughter was a very competent female competitor. Not sure if she's still doing any shooting, but if not, it was great to see a father daughter share that time together doing something that has real value later in life!! Great job teaching Ray and extremely good student improving her skills dramatically in a fairly short time frame......

Even though I have some expensive rifles I love to see these "budget builds" out and about and doing work.
@bryanduchane2371Ай бұрын
The only thing budget about this rifle and it's optic is the price tag. Appears to be a great value and could be a competitive rifle against those so-called top or elite rifles that have a price that can be described as top or elite. Not exactly sure what additional bang you get for the thousands of more bucks they spend. How much better could the same person shoot with the "Elite or Top Tier" expensive rifles. There is some additional results a highly skilled shooter can achieve with a more expensive rifle with the extra features, but I honestly don't know that a normal shooter would be that much more successful with a much more expensive rifle???
@matthewgreenfield1449Ай бұрын
@bryanduchane2371 I think it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I have competed with a factory B14 barreled action that shot well but when I switched to a custom barreled action it felt like a huge improvement. But it wasn't like my match performance went from bottom to top.

Love it! Well done young lady! I have never heard of Outlier but glad to know about them now. I have 2 Savage rifles. (I have an SH4 G2 and for money it's 100%.) One is a .223 and I'd JUMP at the chance to barrel that thing in something that will single feed as well as out of the mag. (I do a fair amount of load development so single feeding is pretty much a massive desireable.) It shoots 69 grain SMK's lights out despite the barrel looking like it was cut with a 50 year old rusty file that was dug out of a corn field. And yes, Savage used ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the torque on that bolt knob on both of my rifles. Thanks for this series!!

This video totally reassures me that I have done things the right way as a newbie for getting into long range PRS - I am still new and still learning.. but I started off with a Rem 700 Heavy Barreled action 24" 1:8 twist build in 6.5 Creedmoor with an MDT chassis and it did not cost me an arm and a leg! I wanted a dedicated 1000yrd rifle to gain my experience on as well as being able to reload for all while not breaking the bank.. before jumping into my next build which will be a true 1 mile rifle in either 7PRC or 300 Norma Mag where I will cut no corners and I will feel much more confident in my more costly investment that will be worth every penny! I will be trying the pre-fit barrel on my next build.. and I really like the look of that out Outlier chassis with the built in Arca rail!

Ray, please don't ever apologize for your content! It is always enjoyable, and you are a wealth of knowledge, experience, and information. Who would have thought that anyone could hit mile with an off-the-shelf system, in less than 24 hours. IT WAS FOR FUN! Taken from a classic film for those complaining, "Lighten up, Francis". :) And FYI (and a Public Service Announcement for your listeners), Outlier USA also makes barrels for the Howa 1500 line. I received my 6.5CM a few weeks ago but haven't installed it yet. The important part of this message is, the actual lead times are closer to 16 weeks, not 8 weeks like their website states. It might be more accurate now, as I understand they recently made some company improvements which may have caused the delayed production. However, during my wait I attempted to contact the company several times without any response. I was so nervous I began to think I got scammed! Not the best customer service, and I'm so glad I was able to see you use the barrel, and I can see it action! I feel as if I have the X-Ring's stamp of approval!!! Keep doing what you're doing. Best,
