With barrel and bullet technology where it is, this doesn’t surprise me at all. For just over $1500, I put together a PRS ready rifle that consistently shoots 300 yard groups under an inch with my hand loads using Berger 115’s. It’s got a 26” Shilen 1:7 twist 6mm creedmoor barrel, Savage 110 action, MDT LSS-XL chassis, and an Arken 6-24.

You are such a talented shooter and a gifted presenter and teacher. I would love it if you had a series on the fundamentals of marksmanship: breathing, trigger pull, follow through, cheek weld, target acquisition, position and manipulation of rear bag, etc. I know that there are lots of videos already covering this. Ryan Cleckner's for instance, are great. But your down to Earth and clear, step by step no-nonsense approach would be of tremendous value for all of us who enthusiastically follow your channel. Hey, you are responsible for getting many of us into long-range shooting, after all! : ) And I just discovered you are into motorcycles too, I love that R1200 GS!

I own 2 of those entry level axis in 223 and 308. Both came with the scope with one being a Bushnell. I bought the 223 to plink with and range brass is abundant - a buddy gave me around 200 pieces of 308 to neck down to 7mm-08 so I thought why not. Both have been fun to play with and I would deer hunt with the 308 in a second. But, it boils down to what are you trying to do. I'm no long range or PRS shooter. -Rock on

This was great, I did enjoy both videos, I am just getting into long distance shooting but since i do not have your skills I try to compensate with the equipment, whatever I can afford, I think it would help. Got me few rifles to this end, couple AR10 I have been putting together for over a year now sharing one lower, 2 uppers, one in 308 and 6.5 creedmore, then also got couple bolt actions, Bergara R14 Trainer .22 LR and Browning Xbolt Target Max Lite in 6.5 creedmore as well; for scopes I got Arken EP5, 5-25x56, Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25X56, Athlon BTR Kronos 4.5-29x56 and Riton 7 Conquer 4-32x56, Bergara rail 30 MOA for the Bergara, Riton Contesa 20 MOA mount, Vortex Medium Pro rings and Arken Low Rings, few other pers so far got an Lonshot L3 Camera and an Atlas BT46 bipod with adapter for both picatini and arca rail. No idea which scope I will use whith which rifle, right not got the Arken mounted on the Xbolt; Everything mentioned here I bought over time and always using the best discounts I could find; I have expended approximately around 6K or maybe a little more; I do not have experience in long precision shooting and think the equipment would help to acquire some and enjoy a little more than struggling with a lower line equipment; I do not have top of the line but I am also not a pro by any means; that and inspiring videos like this shall do it.

Great video, Ray. These days it is getting harder to enjoy our rights with the cost of everything going up. I love the premise of getting to long range at the lowest price you can go. It makes it more evident that it is not the tool but the person behind it. That goes for our 2A rights as well.

Thanks for sharing! I got into shooting long range several years ago but I only have a 1000 yard range. Just hitting the target didn’t do anything for me I had to shoot for groups. Dozens of .5 moa and less out of a Ruger rifle I paid $800 for

You just did what Ive been trying to do for 6 months :) I havent had a gun in 40 yrs and i went out and bought an armalite m15ltc16 on sale and slapped a monstrum ruckus 4x prism on it. It shot bad like 1.7” at 50yd and 6” at 100. I tried everything people at the range told me. I bent the trigger spring on the mil spec trigger and polished that up from a crunchy 9lb to almost smooth 4.5lb. I took the slop outta the upper/lower. I took the slop outta the stock. I tried diff muzzle devices. I disassembled everything that didnt require busting a stake and put it back together. I worked on my hold, my breathing, my cheek weld, my trigger pull. I tried 10 types of ammo. All that gained me maybe half an moa at 50. And then i shot a 6” group again at 100 after all that and about 500 rounds. At that point i lost my mind and thought this guns junk. I drove home and put together an ar10 (on paper) in 6.5 creedmore that weighed 8.5 lb for under a grand and had all the parts on the way. The scope showed up first. A monstrum hornet 4-16x50. I had five rounds of 556 left and i put it on the gun i thought was junk and went to the range and shot em all at the same point at 100yds. I couldnt see em and i got talking to a guy that asked me if i shoot his .338 lapua mag. I completly forgot about my last 5 rounds until i got to the car and noticed all 5 where inside of a .52 inch circle. That armalite was my baby. With a baby on the way:) the 6.5 didnt work out (weight fitment feeding). I returned it all. Ive got some higher class optics showing up this week for my baby. But Id still like a 6.5 creedmoor :) Parallax does matter my friends…

Had to sub. Where has this channel been all this time? Kudos for showing budget options. My budget was a little more but it gives me hope. My budget rifle went over 2100. A Mossberg Patriot Predator in 7 mm PRC (cerakote) that I put in an Oryx chassis. A 20 MOA rail and a Vortex Venom 5-25-X56 FFP scope with the Vortex match precision rings at 150 for the set. But I am getting .5 MOA or less on the first two shots, which matter to me, as a hunter.
