@GWKen Already doing the vitamin D for a long time now. My ankle issue was from a misdiagnosis. I sprained it in 2005, only got an x-ray. Should have had an MRI to see all the loose chunks on the bottom and in my ankle joint. Yep! They cleaned it all out. While my ankle still hurts from surgery, ohhhhh it moves so smoothly now.

Maybe send a broken ECU to northridgefix to see if he can fix it. Better than to just throwing it away. At best it's bad soldering, at worst it's a main chip fault, but it can be anything in between and electrolytic capacitors are often a culprit, but I have seen underdimensioned power transistors as well (designed to fail).

Very impressive diagnoses and set of repairs. Driving in the salt belt will damage badly sealed electrical connections, but known bad computers, that's the real issue with these cars.
@Sandmansa
@Sandmansa 21 күн бұрын
Thank you for addressing that knock sensor issue. Some blow it off as not a big deal. That is a mistake. Sure, the engine can run just fine without it. But the ECM will keep pulling ignition timing away to prevent detonation. In doing so, it cuts power down slightly. This makes you push in the accelerator harder to make up for the loss of power which in turn, consumes more fuel. With it fixed, the engine makes more power and has better fuel economy. A win, win in this case. Well done Ivan.

I just had a similar but different experience. I was called out of bed on an emergency service call to the store I work part time for. They had no water and had an hour or so taking stuff apart and checking when I arrived. The first thing I did was listen to the complaint and then looked at the wiring diagram inside the pump panel and learned how it worked. I found that an overload was tripped and couldn't reset it right away so I made a bypass and went to fire up the pump and one of the capacitors started sparking out. It was a high voltage, low current arc that I caught on camera. One of the employees saw the back room light up and had an epic funny response. I found out that you had to push on the overload harder to get it to reset. I had no capacitor meter like a fieldpiece meter and was going to replace both the start and run capacitor and the starting relay which switches between the caps and believed that either the run cap was out of spec or the relay was sticking. The other full time maintenance guy pointed out there was nicks in the wiring to the well pump but we both agreed that there were no arching marks. The boss said the "well guy" was on his way and to leave everything the way it was until he got there. He wanted me to stay by the phone in case he showed up and I was to explain my findings to him. He was supposed to be "right there" but instead took several hours to show up. He showed up with a woman and immediately started into me about taking stuff apart and that I wasn't a real electrician I shouldnt be working on these things in a commercial building. I told him the panel was "spicy" and be careful because the run cap was arching out. He completely ignored me and flipped the switch and when it arched out, he about sh*t his britches and ran off to shut off breakers until he found the well breaker. He then wanted me to move out of his way and he went to grab a used cap out of his van. He completely insulted my intelligence with me being in electrical for my entire life and being an electrician for 20+ years with college that I was just a dumb maintenance man. The woman further insulted me telling me that I know nothing about water quality and being it's a commercial establishment they would have shut the store down, get the health dept involved, take 2 water samples, bla bla bla bla, and then asked if I was responsible. They also completely ignored I was there and was taking pictures of everything. They had sold the boss on a completely new pump, control, tanks, wiring, and new plumbing in excess of 10 grand. They also smeared me saying they found bare wires that were touching and I was put on the hot plate also jeopardizing my continued employment with this company. I made note of the bare wires and also noted that they didn't have any carbon arcing common with shorted out wiring so it wasn't our problem. I concluded that they needed 2 capacitors and a new starting relay but the boss wanted it to be done right and that the equipment was 20+ years old, it was time to replace. In respect to the boss I had deleted most of the footage due to the fact of my bosses hardship dealing with a huge blow like this.
