Thank you for writing all this out! I had read it a while ago for a class in seminary but it was a fast read bc it was one of 4 I had to read for a paper. I’m appreciating slowing down this time around and reading it with your help.

St Athanasius, and this book, was my first step towards Eastern Orthodoxy. I hope you read Contra Gentes as well. St Athanasius is my dear friend, and he has many incredible things to say. By the way, did you know that St Luke (the author of the gospel) was an iconographer?

Since you’re a Calvinist (I used to be one as well), I would also recommend reading the book “not three Gods” by St. Gregory of Nyssa. The question of “Why God had to come in a body” has some specific problems with Calvinism when “not three Gods” is read in the context of “on the incarnation.”
