I'm assuming that the editing goofs are part of Alex's greater descent into madness. Tomorrow's episode will be a 5 hour loop of Scooby Doo impressions while sorting through Christmas items, and Halloween's episode will be Patrick naked at the hotel in the dark, animalistically eating about 200 pounds of Halloween candy from 1978 with Alex mysteriously nowhere to be found...

Someone may have already commented on this but the bias tape thingy is not a tape dispenser. It is a fabric store display stand for packages of bias tape. Bias tapes are long strips of fabric cut bias to the weave and folded. A person uses them for binding edges when sewing. The divisions in the stand were for the different colors and sizes of the bias tape.

The owners made the right call to sell the content. They got good money for it and save themselves months of trouble and pain. The randomness of the contents of the boxes reminds me of what's in boxes at estate auction sales. When auctioneers empty out a house they put a few good things in a box and then add miscellaneous items to get rid of them. So the bidder gets the collectibles they want plus alot of random filler. Maybe this homeowner was addicted to auctions and had garage sales to get rid of some of the excess. The family would probably know how the owner acquired all this stuff. I'm glad to see some of the good stuff finally.

Exactly. And that's why my mom dreaded Dad's occasional excursion to an auction. Way back when, he liked putting bids on "mystery boxes" when a store closed out or moved. This is why I have a shoe box full of 60-year-old embroidery cotton. Still good, but awfully slow to use up.

Having had some doubts about Alexander's ROI at this house, based on the limited information from his updates, I now predict he will be happy with the profit he makes. This series is entertaining and shows just how much energy/time is needed for the task. Enjoying Patrick's humour and admire the great work ethic they both have. I also enjoy reading the comments where people help with items, like the speakers Alex couldn't find in his research, that someone has suggested may be Altec Lansing. Alexander and Melissa must have thick skins reading through some of the comments telling Alex what he should/ought/needs to do... someone telling him to get "wifey" involved with sorting at their home was one of the most startling!

Yeah, I think these folks wanted to be like you, Alex but they just didn’t have the wherewithal to get it done and it got away from them. Add in hoarding and this is the result. Smalls, aka garage sale items could have been their bread and butter for all the collectibles that take longer to sell. Of course they decided to do it all from home which obviously got the better of them. Still, they’re pretty good hoarders. The biggest thing you’re having to deal with is dust. It doesn’t even seem like there’s a lot of breakage, or mold. You can’t see the floor because of boxes not because everything is everywhere. One wonders if they’d have had as much trouble selling off the good stuff if someone could have helped them? At least to me their mentality seems considerably different than the hoarders we’ve seen and you’ve shown us. I even think the bottles and cans were and effort to save until they became collectible. I’m betting in their day they had great garage sales. It’d be neat to find out if the guy who talked to you knows about the sales. I wonder if they ever cataloged all their stuff? Probably not.

If you find any miniatures of any type, I hope you group them and put them in your auctions. I will definitely be there bidding.

It's so sweet how camera shy Patrick is.

No, not sweet. Annoying. Makes poor Alex carry the load fro info and no chance for the spark and laughter that he and Hans shared at past hoards.

Agree, he impresses me as quiet and calm. Everyone can't be extroverted, I think Alex said he's known him since they were teenagers

I am encouraged that you are finding some valuable antiques😊

I am so enjoying this series! I love to see old things, but it always amazes me that ppl can hoard like this and be comfortable in the place they live! It would make me anxious until it was cleaned up since I have ocd lol! Hey btw tell Patric that he is a very handsome man! Both of you are handsome but Alex has a gorgeous wife and kids who I adore! Y’all be safe and careful! We love you all!!!

Was that place actually lived in? It seems like more of just a storage spot for all of their stuff. Very interesting. Love these vids.

I bet the people that sold it to you are smiling the whole time, because that is so overwhelming.

Also because they probably took out thousands of dollars worth of whatever was easily found sitting around...the jewelry etc.
@makeuplover68522 жыл бұрын
@@AnniePA1960 someone else made a good point that there were no signs of anyone actually living in the house- i.e.. One bed found and it was buried with stuff. It looks like this house has just been used for storage for a very long time...I am inclined to agree, and thus I suspect the personal belongings like jewelry were likely wherever the people who used to live there, where currently living. So I suspect maybe an older couple or a widow who left this home and moved into an apartment or assisted living. I doubt he's going to find a whole lot of jewelry - just a hunch - that it was already moved out.

All the furniture seems of particular good quality. I'm glad you are finding stuff to sell, because wouldn't it be a nightmare if you didn't reclaim your investment through selling!? You did/do a lot of work, and I can't imagine that being for breaking even.
@merrilynnmitten39112 жыл бұрын
Love your stuff it always gives a real feel to the total confusion a hoarders house can be for example boxes that say one thing on the box but contain completely other stuff.

I'm loving these videos!!! I've now started dreaming of treasure hunting adventures. My heart beats faster when you're going through boxes :) I know it's a lot and a lot of work but keep it up!! I want to see EVERYTHING!!!

I have to admit that all this "stuff" gives me anxiety. I'm happy that there are people like you Alex who likes going through box after box. I would have thrown in the towel long before now.
