Welcome to The One! I can totally understand your reaction and sympathise with such a sad loss . If 'art' in any form is about creating an emotional reaction, Babymetal are true artists. They have the ability to really bring out strong emotions in their listeners. We should celebrate these feelings...it shows we are human. Let's celebrate these fantastic young ladies whilst we still have them!

I am so sorry about your daughter, I can't even begin to imagine ... . Others have already suggested the Trilogy of Lights. You may want to experience some of their more playful and fun songs first, but if you feel up to it then yes, they are three great songs with a really positive feel and message describing the stages of mourning after losing somebody close. I really hope they will help you: 'Starlight' is about the initial grief and confusion. 'Shine' is about acceptance and coming to terms with the loss. This is a beautiful song, possibly my own favourite from the album. Finally 'Arkadia' is about moving ahead, looking to the future and better times and things yet to come. This is a really positive and uplifting song and it is so fitting as the finale of the trilogy. The best versions can be found on the Babymetal Reactor Resource channel (for 'Shine' please look to see if you can find the Legend M performance, that one was really special and, in my opinion, possibly Su-metal's finest vocal performance to date). The videos on that channel also have English subtitles - Su-metal is so good at expressing emotions through her vocals that subtitles are unnecessary and usually just a distraction, but just this once I think they might be a good thing to have.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 Deep condolence on your loss and I appreciate your daughter's love for our culture. Some people said this song was a little bit too repetitive. But in their live performance you feel as if the length of this song were only 30 seconds and want to listen to it forever. I witnessed it total 10 times at different venues. Whenever they performed this song, I saw divine beauty and heard healing voices. Su's current matured and richer voice gives you different feeling, I guess. To me, this 2015 version sounds like a call to their fans and 2021 version sounds like embracing them all.

Hello good. First of all I am very sorry (and really, because it has moved me) about your daughter. If people didn't feel ashamed to cry when the soul asks for it and laugh when it does too, I think they would be happier. Regarding the song, I read somewhere that The One is the group's response to the acceptance it had among Western metalheads, who were impressed that they were learning the choruses in Japanese to be able to sing at their concerts in the West. It's a song made for their fans (we effectively call ourselves collectively "The One" and individually "Kitsunes"). There's a reason why we Babymetal fans are the way we are and that's because we really have the feeling of being part of Babymetal.

You're awesome dude! I'm so terribly sorry about your daughter, very sad. I'm a 57 year old biker/headbanger and I cried many times listening to The One. Thank you for sharing :) As many said already, next Babymetal reactions should be light trilogy (Starlight - Shine - Arkadia), they are the last three songs from 3rd album Metal Galaxy in 2019 (similarly Tales of The Destinies + The One closes out 2nd album). Su matured voice is captivating in these. I would suggest not to read too much back story before listening to them, that comes later. 😀

you're not too far into BABYMETAL, but i think you would find comfort reacting to their trilogy of lights. it's three songs about losing someone very important to us but then finding peace and looking forward to the future. all of these songs have live performances on youtube with subtitles, ill try to link them once i find them. these songs were released in their latest album after the passing away of one of their kami band guitarist and after one of the girls left the groups due to health reasons. you'll also see that the girls are much older now. these songs include 1.starlight 2.shine 3.arkadia all in order
@silly_programme50612 жыл бұрын
Dean, there are a couple different options if you're going to do the Trilogy of Lights. Since they're all more recent performances, you won't find them in full on youtube (much like Tales of the Destinies), but there are compilations where people have gotten around copyright blocks by stitching together video from different shows with audio from one show. These aren't the best way to experience the songs for the first time, but they don't involve any extra effort on your end. If you want to go this route, the channel 'ferr' has good-quality compilations; highly recommend using those. If you want to go the extra mile, obscuring the video you're watching in post with a translucent logo or blur effect or whatever can also circumvent copyright blocks. There's a channel called the 'Babymetal Reactor Resource' that does this and provides links to the videos without logos in the descriptions. I also do this on my channel, such as it is. If you want the best experience, this is the method I suggest. Cheers!

@@deanwolfechannel Thank you for sharing that Dean. I truly am sorry to hear what happened. A few people have mentioned reacting to the trilogy of lights. I would recommend it as well. You'll find Su-metal (main singer), has a gift of conveying emotions through her music and singing. She has also said in interviews that the words of the songs aren't as important. She'd rather people be able to FEEL the songs and the message through the song. I can never remember her exact words, and there is somebody who always helps me out and will reply to this message and say her exact words, but either way, you get what I'm saying. Something you might find a little interesting that is unrelated (I tend to be thinking of many things all at once and I get my thoughts mixed up sometimes, sorry). You mentioned in your first reaction to Babymetal that you found Road of Resistance "poppy". Something you probably don't know about Babymetal is that there is a HUGE amount of lore that they've integrated in with the music and the band. The girls, DID start out doing JPop, and eventually made their way into the metal scene. They incorporated that into their music too. The short version of the story is that Metal is dying, and the "Fox god", picked Su-metal to save the metal galaxy. So Su eventually becomes "reborn" as a metal goddess with the 2 girls as her partners. So if you continue down this fox hole, you'll want to do the other trilogy they did involving the transformation of Su-metal, from Su, the young JPop loving/singing girl, to Su-metal, the goddess of metal. Lastly, don't be ashamed of showing emotions to the music, there are MANY of us who will profess to showing emotion to Babymetal. Finally, if you want to see more of the band, I'd recommend watching Rondo of Nightmare with the Mischief of gods intro. Catch Me If You Can also has an intro with band as well, although that isn't as prog. Rondo IS more prog... ish... I think you might enjoy that one. It is quite dynamic and unique.

So sorry to hear about your daughter pass away, such a young soul, it really makes feel that this world isn't fair, but then you hear BabyMetal and everything makes sense to keep being alive. I'm pretty sure she would be a BabyMetal fan no doubt about it. We also got sad memories when remembering Míkio Fujioka, one of the stable Kami Band guitarist who passed away in 2018 with 36 yo leaving a wife and two daughters, he's playing in this live performance of The One at Yokohama Arena in 2015 (the sound is studio album thou), now he's shredding with metal gods and making angels headbanging probably. R.I.P. kogami. Also YuiMetal withdrawal in 2018 was a huge lost for the group, and fans still missing her, she's ok now according to the girls so we expecting nothing but joy and happiness in whatever she decides to follow with her life and career. I already give you my recommendation on previous comments, thanks for sharing this moment that many of us can feel related to you, be ready for more, our girls really hit hard like no one else. I am 67 years old. I've played guitar and sang on stage and in the studio many genres but mostly rock for 50 years. I have many passionate feelings about various bands, but I have never been moved by a band like Babymetal moves me. There is a mysterious presence that is the whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. I don't cry easily, but somehow their music moves me to tears all the time. Whether it's tears of joy or of longing for a thing not quite defined. No band has moved me like them since the Beatles. They have re-ignited in me a passion for music that was slowly burning out. I am eternally grateful for that. I feel like a kid again when I listen to their songs. The Beatles ended after 6 years and BM has continued to evolve for well over a decade now and this latest album drop has convinced me they are the most important band on the planet. Your honest reaction has made me a lifetime sub. Thank you for it. I am convinced this song is a love letter to the fans, who are known as "The One" and am also convinced we are a family. The One is such a good song and that they’ve created it for their fans makes it even better tbh. Btw no need to apologise for your feelings, we are all humans! Kitsune up!

I'm sorry. I can't imagine. My daughter is 17 right now. On a happier note that show with the giant fox statues is Yokohama 2015. One of my favorite shows. They breathe smoke (dry ice obviously) and also there are Lazer lights in their eyes. It was cool every time they turned those on. That was the stage premiere of The One and it was not released in any way yet as far as I know.

I feel for you. I lost my daughter over 30 years ago. At the time I was serving in the British Army, and posted away from home. When I got back found that my marriage at the time was no more. They went home to Germany. I did not get to say goodbye. It's a loss that hit home. I would love to have said goobye to her and hold her for one last time. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her. But, my faith is strong. We will meet again on the rainbow bridge and go to peace. Amen.

I'm really sorry for your loss. I always cry with BM, and your story hit me very hard. It happens quite often that great people leave us early. I like to believe that deep inside they are too good for this world, so they are quickly promoted to a better place. I'm sure your daughter was an amazing person. I can feel your energy and I can imagine she was well raised and taken care of Your understanding of the lyrics is the same as mine. I even thought it referred to suicide directly in some parts. Japan does have many of these energetic and uplifting songs

Deepest condolences. That is an awful loss to go through. But music does have a special way of reaching us when we need it. There is definitely something healing about Babymetal, and this song in particular. It's why I keep coming back to listen again and again. They have a beautiful way of just making you feel. I feel your deep sense of loss. I am sorry that you did not know about it. I cannot come up with any words of encouragement. However, I do not agree with the trilogy of light that many fans are pushing for at this time. Because it evokes the loss of the band so much that I cry every time I listen to it. 90% of Babymetal's songs are made of fun.

Sad to hear about your daughter's passing. Suicide and depression really is not something to be taken lightly. I hope she's in a safe place now. Where there is no more tears, pain, and cries. Babymetal got a handful of songs that can hit you right in the feels. If you want to hear something like that and from their recent album, I suggest you the Trilogy of Lights. They were three songs namely Starlight, Shine, and Arkadia. Starlight was believed to be a tribute song for their guitarist Mikio Fujioka who passed away. He was an avid stargazer. The trilogy mainly tackles the stages of emotions one might experience when suffering from a loss. Or if you're not yet into something emotional and want to hear BABYMETAL in a bit different sound you're used to so far, try Night Night Burn or Shanti Shanti Shanti. See you at the foxhole!

Thank you PD. I am thankfully not "The Only One" who feels this way. I'm a seasoned prog metal drummer. I discovered BabyMetal from their US debut on Stephen Colbert. I didn't keep up with them until recently. It was high praise from one of my influences, Mike Portnoy, who has appreciated them since 2016. I read the tweet only this year (2022) and I thought I better take another listen. I was emotional when my dog of 13+ years passed. Not to sound cliché, but this song has touched and healed my soul in some way. Almost every time I hear this song, I get like when my dog died. Crybaby time. However, BabyMetal has replaced that deep pain with tears of intense, deep joy and peace. I feel like all of their songs are like this in their individual way. Something so innocent and fun as Gimme Chocolate, to the depth of The One and Road Of Resistance. I have found that I cherish this band and their metal, like I cherish, protect and love my mother. BabyMetal, including the entire production team that creates such engaging and moving live events... Thank you. Thank you for your drive to be excellent. Thank you Fox God for gifting us with Kawaii Metal! A live show is at the top of my bucket list.

@@deanwolfechannel Starlight is the first, its about the pain you experience when you have lost someone. The second song is Shine. Its deals with the sadness you expirence for a long time after when the intence shock pain is less. Arkadia, the third song, is about acceptance of what has happened and making up your mind to going ahead even though we never will forget. If you feel this is going to be too much, maybe just watch them without recording, as they can get our emotions burst out quite violently sometimes (this comes from a 46 year old metalhead).

The most important thing, I am so sorry for your lost and I can't even imagine what it must be to experience something like that. There are no words, I'll send you a bit of warmness. On more mundane stuff about the video. The One was never a big hit for me but at this point I've seen a lot of reactors getting hit in the feels by this song, so it must have something. And this is not even the best version of the song, it's just the studio audio together with some images from their late 2015 concert. You should check their Legend S (2017) performance of this song, or when they did it together with Tales of the Destinies in the Tokyo Dome concert (2016). You will find this links at the Babymetal Reactor Resource : kzbin.info/door/I6VCZx5ux46V6ZGSTd403wvideos And as some people I might recommend you next to watch what people calls the Trilogy of Lights, that, even if it was never explained that way, the fan theory is that the three songs are a journey through the pain of loss, that was something Babymetal experienced in 2018. That year Yui, one of the two dancers, left the band due to health reasons. But they also lost their guitar player, Mikio Fujioka, who died after he fell from an observation deck while stargazing with his wife. He was known in the band for being an astronomy aficionado. Both loved astronomy, Yui and Mikio, so it is speculated the whole universe theme in the Metal Galaxy (2019) album era is kinda inspired as a tribute to both of them. If you do this songs better watch them live, the MV isn't that good. The three songs in order are: 1: Starlight 2: Shine 3: Arkadia

So sorry about your daughter and thank you for being so open about it and showing the raw emotions. It's important that people see how much pain suicide inflicts on others. It might make them reconsider doing it themselves. I feel so sorry for your daughter, for you and anyone else she left behind. This world can be ugly and I really wish our society would put much more emphasis on helping people with such problems instead of demonizing them as so many do because often it's the good ones that have to deal with this, it's the good ones that can't handle this world and it's the good ones who end up taking their own life as I'm sure your daughter was. So sorry, don't blame yourself and much strength.

Sorry for your loss, I've lost someone too but I'm not a father so this pain is still unimaginable for me, especially she was still that young. Others seem recommending *Trilogy of Light* , which is perfectly fit but I think something like *Brand New Day* might be good for you too, it's very very comfort and has uplifting vibe to make your day better. I think there's something trigger your feeling as those girls - especially Su were at the same age as your daughter here - as BM fan I honestly never feel like her voice is the best in the world as there are incredible singers that can make a lot more incredible sound, BUT when she singing she definitely can touch someone deeply, that make her phenomenal - the raw power to deliver emotion rightfully especially when singing live, it may feel like a hug, like encouragement, or pure joy to lift you up. Personally I think you should watch this one too (no need to do reaction anything): kzbin.info/www/bejne/amTFandvfaejopY it's just a fan cam that show an even more comfort version of this song with more rawness as there's no big production, no huge stage, and present to you by a fully matured Su - with her more powerful comforting voice than ever

"Tales of the Destinies" and "The One" were conceived together and when you hear them together you get the full emotional impact. I bought the Tokyo Dome DVD just for the live performance of "Tales of the Destinies" and "The One". It's 20 mins of brilliantly emotional music. "The One" has a great melody and it reminds me of those epic prog rock productions of the 70s and 80s - it could be Yes and the comparison is high praise for BM's producer, Kei Kobayashi, the song writers, BM and the Kamis. Su, Moa and Yui sing it beautifully, but the English lyrics are a bit clunky, IMO, and I prefer the version you reviewed that has some Japanese. This song it a gift from BM to their fans and it has an amazing emotional impact. That refrain and the reaction of the crowd taps right into something in everyone. BM are a real contradiction. Kobayashi is famously careful not to allow any publicity with the girls outside of their BM personas, but he does try to "bridge the gap" to the fans with the flying pyramid and also with various thrust stages in other concerts. Many fans feel a deep connection with BM and its members, particularly if they have followed the group from their start with Sakura Gakuin. Kobayashi and Amuse also exploit that connection with rather ridiculous merchandising prices and policies, but they are after all trying to make money. Kobayashi has build on the connection with lore and emotional songs and the fans have created their own sub-culture and memes involving tomatoes, Deloreans, frogs etc. However, when a fanbase identifies so strongly with a group then change can be difficult and that was shown when Yui left. Many fans still miss Yui and BM have not yet replaced what she brought to the performances or moved beyond that.

Condolences to you and your family. That's truly awful. I'm glad that this music is able to bring some comfort, at least. I was talking to someone earlier today about the way that the metal instrumentation in Babymetal songs excels at building tension, and the pop vocals and hooks excel at releasing it. It makes a lot of these songs very cathartic to listen to.
