I've been looking for the information for the same or similar PTAC for days and finally found this. Now that I have read the comment, I also think I am in one of the three buildings (overlooking the Gardener) that have installed the same model! Mine is so old that the label is fading and I am not able to tell the exact model. But the look is very similar to the one in the video and I also looked up the manual for the the model in the unit from Applied Comfort. Thanks for shooting this video and helping people like me to sort out the real issue. My building has a contractor doing all the servicing for the unit owners but they only do the easiest job which is cleaning the drain pipe without pulling out the unit. Any leaking remaining after cleaning the drain pipe, they will recommend to replace the entire unit! My only question to you is whether you absolutely need two people to pull out and push back the unit (which is 165 lbs)? If I use a heavy duty roller underneath, do you think one person can handle the job?

If you put something onto which the unit will slide onto, you could definitely try do this on your own. It is heavy to lift, but not overly heavy to slide. Good luck!

Greating from 270, mine is not cooling. Asked the technician provided by the condo board, they didn't pull ot out. their recommendation is replacing the unit. I will pull it out and see what I can do. curious about how old is ur unit. Mine is 10 yrs. Hopefully cleanning and declogging can fix the issue.

thanks for the video... although I have an old good working Carrier PTAC unit model #52BHA014301AA and......I want my Ptac to go on when the wall thermostat heats up the pipes above the ptac unit and off when the boiler shuts off and the pipes get cool. How do I accomplish this if my sensor is just working off of ambient room temp? My room thermostat does this already. Should I relocate the sensor right over the heating coils that run over the top grill? OR... get a sensor that can do this? THANKS, any suggestions? very much appreciated. My bedroom Island Aire ptac unit has a sensor that I just locate over the grill area and it works both the heat and the ac thermostat. THis old ptac seems to have a wand sensor over by the a/c intake that is indoors? This way as I've said, it never registers the heat in the actual pipes.

I truly am not sure what you'd need. But sounds like if you want to measure a temperature at a specific spot and use that measurement to control a PTAC that is currently controlled by a wall thermostat, maybe you can consider buying a wireless thermostat. You can then simply leave the wireless thermostat wherever you want to measure the temperature and have it communicate with the wired receiver leading to the PTAC

I've been looking everywhere for an example of he PTAC units in our building, because everything i could find were the hotel style ones that just vent out the top, and I FINALLY found it! Then the funny thing is, I'm like, well now I know why....He's literally taking the video from the same building! lol. Or one of the towers beside. Have you seen these types of units with this same set-up anywhere else? Because this is just confirming to me they are literally unique to our buildings. Which company are you with>?

I have never seen this setup anywhere else, but it's unlikely we are the only building that uses it as there are 2-3 companies that make it. I think there are more in the US. Also, I'm just an owner in the building I'm not a HVAC tech :).. I made the video because I figured others had the same issues and I guess I was right.

This PTAC looks like a unit sold under AAF, Herman Nelson, and McQuay brands.

Hey! I know this is from 3 years ago but did your AC stop leaking?

It helped majorly, but there was still a minor leak afterwards so in addition to this, I put some shims at the front of the unit to tilt it outwards so it could hold more water. That stopped the leak all together.

@@MrZiptron One of the two PTACs in my unit has been leaking crazy lately in the past couple of weeks. So, thanks to your video, I removed the panels on the front and top and did a check. It turned out that the condensated water accumulates at the bottom of the front tray / container underneath the cooling coils and builds up rust which eventually caused a hole on the very left bottom for the front tray / container from which the accumulated water leaks directly into the fan and floor underneath whenever the AC is turned on. I've been thinking about why there would be so much water accumulated there - likely at least an inch deep and I literally used up 1/3 roll of a kitchen paper towel and a rag to get the water absorbed. Why so? Shouldn't the water flow to the drain pipe directly? I did make sure that the drain pipe is cleaned

@@wendyhouse6045 At times, when there's a clog (accumulation of dust and debris) at the drain hole leading to the plastic drain tube that runs from the front pan to the back pan, water becomes unable to drain from the front pan, causing it to accumulate. However, it's unusual for corrosion to occur. Typically, the front pan overflows when there's a clog, which makes the issue noticeable right away. Depending on how bad the corrosion hole is, you may be able to clean the area a bit and then just fill it with silicon to get yourself another few years out of your unit.

Bud. That is not a heating coil. Thats a discharge line between condensing coil and compressor. Its temp is below 100 F most of the time.
