rajesh nayak are you sure?? ever saw Pt. Anindo chaterjee with Shahid parvez ji?? they are both are perfectly made for company each other..anindo ji is the best ever tabla maestro I ever heard..the delicacy of his playing style is hypnotic
@seemajoshi33145 жыл бұрын
Undoubtedly, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee is one of the best tabla maestro we have in the current era. But we should not forget tabla players like Ustad Zakir hussain, Pandit Yogesh samsi, Pandit Kumar Bose, Ustad Ahmed Jaan Thirakwaa and many other unknown heroes. All these players are good in their own way. Hence we cannot conclude that any one tabla player is the best tabla maestro. Note: this is not at all an accusation Sandipanji, but just a small piece of information.
@RajeshNayakSunkeri5 жыл бұрын
@@sandipanmukherjee9088whatever you are telling I do agree. But I do remember the quote said by legendary tabla Artist pandit Suresh talwalkar that accompanying ustad ji not easy. Tabla players concentration must remain intact while accompanying him.

On 40:13 He actually scolded the Tabla player very strictly YET with so much humbleness and professionalism. No doubt Ustadji is one of the greatest musicians but above all He is a great human being and personality. Unending respect for Ustadji.

what did he say...could you hear him?

@@DavidKolbSantosh He asked the tabla player to play the Teentaal theka clearly and straight without doing fancy things. He told him to keep the time straight & simple.

Still the Tabla player repeated his play.🤦🏻 All Ustadji was asking was playing a Simple basic Teen Taal.

I could see Ustadji's frustration due to Tabla player! As a Tabla player, I know the difficulties any Tabla player can face with the intricating laykari from Khan Sahib! Tabla player should learn from this experience! Apart from that excellent rendition from Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan! Kya baat hai!!
@amitra65554 жыл бұрын
Problem was probably not in his style of accompaniment but the silly mistakes he made in Jhaptal. At the initiation of Jhaptal gat, he peculiarly started 1 Matra late which ustad ji adjusted. That could have been forgiven, but in the very next cycle he again made a mistake of one Matra which was again adjusted by ustad ji. After few minutes when ustad ji indicated him to play something, he tried to play half-heartedly without confidence and and his tihai did not meet the 'Sam'... It came afterwards and Shahid Parvezji had to adjust for the third time. This might have irked ustadji internally as he is clearly not accustomed to sach novice type of accompaniment. His latter comments probably reflected that only.

I have been reading, observing and listening to the various discussions on the role of Silence in Music, Indian Classical Music, in specific. The discussions are mostly inspired by western points of view and applying them to Indian Classical Music. Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan has also talked about using 'silence'. Silence and Pauses are two aspects in Indian Classical Music. They are distinct and different. The Performing musicians are creative artists. During the performance(s), they get creative moments and ideas for communication and presentation. To offer, communicate and present a creative idea based sangati or sanchara, they need to stop the flow and start afresh. This process of momentary stop or gap (correctly) in the flow, is pause. It is not Silence. Fortunately, rarely, the creative artist comes up with excellent ideas and its presentation. Unfortunately, in reality, no new, afresh and excellent ideas and its presentation happens. Expectation and excitement is aroused and ends with ordinary sangati or sanchara, serving only the committed rasikas of the artist, who get the feeling of fresh and new experience, with the deliberate and conscious indulgence by the performer. The Silence happens when the performing artist is drawn creatively sub-conscious and totally inward and in perfection, reaches pinnacles of pure and sublime Nada and its effects, all pervading and all consuming. The pervasiveness and consumption, is realized only after the real creative moments, performance and delivery. The moments, when both the performer and the rasika are in the state of suspended animation caused by the beauty (stunningly) is verily, the Silence! The awareness and its impact and benefits, happen after the Silence is over. The pauses serve the limited purpose of arresting the attention or even testing the preparedness or patience of the rasika. But, Silence, a very rare phenomenon, is truly blissful moment(s).
