Pterygopalatine ganglion

Here's number 2 on our list of parasympathetic ganglia in the head, and today's nerve is the facial nerve (CN VII).
What does the pterygopalatine ganglion do, where is it, and what does it have to do with the facial nerve? Well, it's a little tricky. And deep.

Ooh - good point. I was trying to highlight the visceral afferent fibres as I find students miss them conceptually so I tend to try to include the idea where I can. You're quite right though.
