I have this enormously. It overtakes your whole life. Everyday negative events are overwhelming.

Oof, we have this COMT warrior worrier variant in my family and it presents as cPTSD, sPTSD, PMDD+Hashimoto’s+Secondary adrenal insufficiency, hyper Adrenergic POTS, ADHD, Autism, and Parkinson’s. We have struggled with many many misdiagnoses, lots of gaslighting, lack of knowledgeable clinicians. There is a significant amount of generational trauma, so two of us did not have children. I am slowly finding help and we are all finding balance.

Thanks for sharing. It’s interesting how some individuals with the same intensity of trauma respond In an opposite manner, having a substantially greater threshold for stress. I know this to be the case personally, when comparing people whom have strikingly similar upbringings with relatives in one family developing personality disorders and the latter being largely uneffected by neglectful caregivers, or at the very least develop depression.

THIS video is priceless! I was searching for this exact topic and all info is appreciated. I added it to my channel for others. I subscribed immediately. You should do seminars on this.

Hi Dr Gates, could you please elaborate on the anxiety related issues that someone with the Val/Val SNP variant may be predisposed to developing. Thanks!

This was a fascinating and informative video, thank you! I have the MET/MET. I have numerous family members who had the same issues you described after fighting in WWII, and sadly, like so many men, become alcoholics (not in immediate family). One question...as I am doing Somatic Experiencing for my own trauma and finding that I am able to regulate my body and my emotional state much better...if someone is actively working on their trauma, through means such as EMDR or SE, is it possible for that mutation to disappear in future generations?

Does COMT +- track with CPTSD and ADHD? Or is it just ++?

This whole speech is basically on met/met, correct? I'm val/val and I would like more information on that, please! All I know is that my report said I have lower dopamine, higher stress resiliency (supposedly), higher pain tolerance, and lower estradiol levels - which I highly doubt because I became estrogen dominant and got precancerous uterine lining. I've never really had a "filter" but then again I had a severe head injury when I was 18. If you can point me in the direction of research on val/val I would appreciate it, thanks.

estrogen blocks comt-gene and reduces its activity. so if you have high estrogen the dopaine gets lowered. you could ask chat gpt and ask it.
