NO WAY! i fish at that same exact spot all the time! ive never caught anything though. haha. im not that good when it comes to lake michigan. but ive caught MANY perch using an ultra light rod with 6 lb trilene mono and i used tiny yellow swimbaits. ive caught those at bender park. its a lake michigan boat launch. also.... i think i hooked up a big 20 lb salmon or something. my 6 lb test and ultra light rod could not fight him though. haha. nice video! its nice to see people fish where i fish!

Enjoy it while it lasts and just hope what happen to Lake Huron don't happen to you. Our fishery on Lake St Clair and Lake Huron has gone it shit. Sure there's still some fish but it's nothing what it use to be. We went from a walleye perch and salmon fishery to lake trout musky and smallmouth bass. The eco system totally changed because of the quagga mussels.

Any tips for a new trout/salmon/perch fisher I've never tried fishing Lake Michigan but I fish bass, like and panfish pretty avidly but living just south of Milwaukee I've always thought of trying for them but never tried

+MyLonewolf25 Use spoons, crankbaits, and soft plastic jerk minnows for trout and salmon. For spoons and crankbaits use a lot of different color combinations until you find whats working. Colors like: silver&blue, green&chartreuse, orange&gold, firetiger, and baby trout colors usually work really good. For jerk minnows use colors like white, smelt, chartreuse, or firetiger. In fall and winter, roe bags or live minnows sometimes work the best. I also recommend using a light rod with lighter line. A medium action spinning rod is good and I would use either 8 - 10lb line.

So coming from Iowa- and from my location to get up there it's a good 4 hour drive. I've heard quite a few stories over the years about fishing the lake harbors up your way and people doing quite well. Is there a certain time of year that is better than the rest, or is it an 'anytime is good" activity? My wife and I were thinking about coming up in the fall to check things out. Would a normal 7' medium action rod work, or would I need a longer "salmon/steelhead" type rod for this? Is there a forum or a place I can get more info without inviting all the internet scouters to the action, haha? You definitely got my attention with this video. When I was a kid, my dad and my grampa would go up to Manitowoc? to snag salmon back in the 70's. Ever since then, I have always been curious about the giant salmonids that lurk in the great lakes, and have always wanted to go toe to toe with big browns, kings, and cohos:-)

No size limit and I think I think the limit is like 20 idk really know the limit but there is no size limit

Sorry Im not eating anything out of that shithole of a lake.. But I grew up in Milwaukee and fished all around there for 35 year's.. Now I live in DeSoto and fish the Mississippi and tons of class A trout streams.
