Thank you for watching everyone! Many of us don't realise it, but when built well, public transport can be truly incredible.

The metro line has changed my life. I am riding my bike to Tallawong and getting to the city fast. Just shows good public transport can change decisions.

Sharath is the ultimate transport geek, I admire his passion. This guy gave up medical school for this….we need to make him transport minister
@Bytekin101Ай бұрын
I dont know how I missed this (wait, it released 2 days ago, nvm), but this talk is one of my favorites. The person explaining it so clearly, the issue of urban sprawl, and how communities are made more for cars than transits like trains and buses. We must make individual choices to reduce the climate impact and build better cities to accommodate better, more efficient, and more sustainable public transportation so people will actually want to take them.

have you lived in a suburban heat island hellscape?

That’s another, different problem caused by poor regulation. The issue is here bringing people, fast, cheap, public transport together. It makes sense when government planning, development are in synergy
@kennylee8936Ай бұрын
Apartment or single family home....we need to stop demonizing the other...both need to be built to their best quality and be of many varieties to suit different kinds of people.
@stephaniethompson469Ай бұрын
I agree that stratas could do with a lot of improvement. It doesn’t mean we should do away with the concept all together, but there does need to be tight regulation to make sure things aren’t built for bottom dollar in a way that means corners are cut in the way of shoddy building work out lack of community spaces.
@carolineramage7480Ай бұрын
@stephaniethompson469 I was referring more to toxic neighbours, lazy and incompetent strata managers and hitleresque committees. Pretty near impossible to legislate against human nature. An original dodgy build is the icing on the cake.

Sharath doesn’t realise how corrupt Australia is and why public transport is so bad. Even the “new” Metro in Sydney is suffering from extreme shaking at some points on the line. Australia is going backwards because there are too many people here now. It’s a third world country that masquerades as a first world country simply because it’s part of the Commonwealth. When you look at the country in terms of economic complexity, industry, quality of life it has been going backwards for years. This country is so vast, and with AUSTRALIAN WAGES there is NO WAY we will become a public transport utopia. We are NOT Japan or China BECAUSE OF CORRUPTION. It is time Sharath woke up and realised this and that he is just wasting his time.
@FKYUNimbysАй бұрын
At least we have Public Transport and we are advocating to make better, it would make it worse if we became a more car centric society like America
@SkattedАй бұрын
The more we talk about it the more change that will happen
@SpacemonkeymojoАй бұрын
@@Skatted Lmao that's not how the world, and especially how AUSTRALIA works. Politicians receive donations from big business, hence they implement policies that benefit big business first and foremost. Australia is a corrupt hellhole, it's about time more people woke up to that fact.

Cars are better. Privacy, no waiting around and quicker than public transport. I live the hills bro. The area you grew up in. The metro is too far from all house holds.
@chocosmith2243Ай бұрын
It's relative. If you had a high speed train with good parking you'd drive less. Sydney needs to concentrate on high density areas first. Helps them, but also helps suburbs like the hills as less traffic and easier to drive. Win win
