Most excellent dude! Loved the whole series and I’m personally sure I’ll be referring back time and time again in forthcoming builds. Most useful for me I think has been the fretting as a whole topic in itself. I’m still yet to fret a guitar I build five years into building and playing!! I’m ashamed of myself. Hugely thankful to you for demystifying the process though!! Thanks a trillion, Del. You really ARE a Legend in my eyes.

Got my first neck done yesterday. Pretty good for not having any power tools other than a drill. Had to use beechwood because woods like oak and maple are expensive to come by in Germany. Today is fret day. I'll probably get the tuners installed as well. Thanks for saving me a lot of trouble s far. You've really been tackling problems with these videos that I wouldn't have thought of.

Love the series and has been very helpful as this is my first run. I have a rundown badly made cigarbox guitar that I have pulled apart to refurbish and fix up, neck is almost complete, with respect to pickups was thinking of putting a P90 of some sort in there, I have sourced one for about $30 (yes you get what you pay for) is there any choice of where to put it Bridge or Neck position (is one position better than the other - with normal guitars they are very different) and will the cheaper pickups suffice for these guitars.

Great series Dell! I feel like I will be able to do some cool mods to the kit I have coming from Gitty. The Chicago. I plan on adding the piezo split to the humbucker, and a couple of springs. Surprised you didn't add the springs to this one. This last one on zeroing in the intonation is probably the most important. Thank you thank you buddy!

Thank you so much Del! One question, do you attach the saddle or is it just held in place by the strings? I get that you could mark it so that when you change the strings you don’t have to do that all again. So if you change strings like a lighter gauge do you then have to re-potion it? If you don’t feel like answering these questions a signed guitar would probably make up for it! Haha. Happy thanksgiving.

I've got a couple wine boxes but these things are twice size of a cigar box.. size of the wine boxes closer to an actual guitar. Paid $4 each. Due to size and the wood being thin I'm going to have to add a little bracing and support from the neck at the space where bridge can rest. My question is would a wine box be to big. Both are close to same size. The biggest (Riunite brand) is 14.5 inches long by 12.4 inches wide by 4 inches deep. Eventually wanting to make a 3 string out of both these if they would work
@adamfox47653 жыл бұрын
So that a question. I've seen a lot of builders put the little nub on the bottom of the box for the strings but you use a hinge I like that idea better I think it looks cleaner. But why do others use the little nub
@danielmaier7624 жыл бұрын
Hi. I have one question regarding the bridge: After finding the right position, how did you fix it? Or is it fixed in position by the force of the strings? Would be nice if you could give me a short answer. I love your videos. Just started to follow you and I plan to create my one CBG. But made of an metal box. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Regards from Germany. Daniel
@robdangerfield71293 жыл бұрын
I think he marks the bridge position, so he can put it back if it gets moved. So it must be free floating.

I learned a lot; my three string builds are nowhere near as neat... Having severe issues with intonation ~ hours of tweaking, measure and measure again. Cuss lots, take a coffee break Cuss some more and still weeks later the dang Gitty sounds balls... Cannot get that 12 th fret harmonic!! AARGH

I just finished my 5th CBG. Built them for a silent auction fund raiser. They tune and have Gitty piezoelectrics. I did g,d,g and g,b,d tuning. I play 6 string but haven't quite got the deal with threes. What are closest chord shapes from 6 string and tuning to use for these 3 stringers? Also I noticed when the neck is shaved down for the lid the neck bends some. I havent done the double up you do to the part in the box.
