I am by no means a professional hockey player (or even close) but I have broken 2 pucks in my career, one off of a really hard slap shot during a warm-up against the boards and another after taking a wrist shot and it hit another player's shaft of their stick (mid - game). Both times the puck was probably a cheaply made puck, and both times the puck had been stepped on or otherwise damage such that there was already a split starting to form, just needed a hard shot to finish it off.

Mike Cowan if you were watching you could see the reff with the puck give it to the other reff because he had was getting ready to drop it. In exchange for the puck he gave him the broken piece from the skate, which he gave to mrazek. Doesn’t have to be this complicated😂

I wonder if there's any rule that actually addresses the possibility of the puck breaking into pieces, and what happens when it goes in like at 3:25... Like, does greater than 50% of the puck half to be the part that goes in? What if only a tiny part of the puck goes in. Would they have to have some sort of volumetric or mass measurement device handy to determine whether or not the part of the puck that went in constitutes at least half of the original puck? lol

There was a Michigan / Michigan State NCAA hockey game where Michigan State scored through the net. The refs were only allowed to use the overhead camera. You clearly saw the net bulge as the puck went through. They reviewed it for ten minutes and said no goal.
