Well, the original song has 3 layered guitar parts so if there are not 3 guitar players on stage something going on. Wes btw plays 3 power chords that change to sus chords as the song progresses. Don't get me wrong its a great song and performance and it is done a lot on these live tv shows.

Wow. Look how easy it is for him to hit and sustain those high notes, his vocal technique here is impeccable. If you watch any live show recordings from the Life On Display era or later, you can clearly tell he’s straining his voice. Seriously makes me wonder what happened around 2003 that made his voice start to deteriorate. Wes was so talented and now his voice is shredded to bits, i don’t know if there’s a chance of him ever getting it back after all these years of torture. But i hope he can at least get some of it back.

Right! So sad
@darkone18032 жыл бұрын
He probably started to develop vocal cord polyp's that weren't treated correctly, unfortunately this happened to a lot of vocalist's of the whole post grunge - alternative metal scene, it sadly is in most cases because they weren't coached or didn't accept coaching and it led to strain on the vocal cords and often permanent damage to their voices over time (See Brett Scallions of Fuel, Chad Kroeger of Nickelback), but for some with rest and practice they were able to mostly recover their vocals to some degree, Chad Gray of Mudvayne and Wes Scantlin are prime examples of take time away and mostly recovering and before the whole famous "About a girl" cover PoM did a few years back, you really have to think, Wes for a few years had been dealing with heavy drug and alcohol use and then you add the fact before he got sober, he was almost constantly touring adding more strain on top of the drugs and alcohol, if you need proof that Wes is back go look up some of his performances in 2022, he sounds pretty good overall given his age.
@thenightmare92 Жыл бұрын
Yeah your not wrong here. I saw them in Louisville last November. & the beggining of the show he sounded great! But it got close to the halfway point & they started to play “Famous” is when his voice started to strain bad & then his lead guitarist had to help out with some back up vocals. Honestly believe if he got a legit coach to help with technique & proper ways to keep the vocals ready before a show, he could potentially get his chops back.

I remember exactly where I was when I heard this song for the first time. I was 16 and had just gotten my drivers license a few weeks prior. I was driving my mothers car to the mall to meet up with some friends. I was listening to the local rock radio station in my town and the dj said "Here's a new one for you guys. This band has been on the rise and this is their latest hit. Blurry from Puddle of Mudd". I went straight to the nearest record shop because I knew that I had to have the album as I heard the song. Got it home and played the whole album on repeat for like 5 straight days.
