Beautiful colors, I believe Julie put powder first to keep it from flying in the air.

Mixing your mica with a small amount of resin first minimizes bubbles in a cup. As you can mix a small amount vigorously and then add the resin you need and mix slowly.

Also prevents mica flying up and going everywhere

Beautiful colors and beautiful effects. I love Julie’s videos and she clearly has a wealth of knowledge about both resin and mold making. She does amazing work but, I would think the surface tension would create somewhat of a barrier between the resin and the mica, making it harder to mix.🤷🏻♀️ A while ago I had some clear and antique bronze resin leftover, it was really thick by then. I poured first the clear then the bronze into a 9” round. The effect was so cool, it was beyond crackle, it looked like an aerial view of the slot canyons in Southern Utah.. it’s still one of my favorite pieces. Going through a car wash is pretty much the last place that you’d expect to get rear ended or.. front ended for that matter.😂 Literally the day after we put our brand new plates on our brand new car, the woman in front of me put her car in reverse and stomped on the gas. Me laying on my horn in an enclosed car wash, which ended up being loud enough to wake the dead.. did absolutely nothing to stop her. So.. I can definitely sympathize.😅❤

Annette, I have tried it both ways and mine and hers and still have gotten mica bubbles. But she also says that when you brush your mold with mica powder it breaks the surface tension and prevents bubbles from forming when you pour your resin on it, it never works for me, I get bubbles every single time. With every resin I try. 🤷🤷 vacuum chamber, no vacuum chamber, alcohol, heat gun, torch. So I gave up trying.

Hi beautiful colours 😍 tip, if you were trying the crackle effect best to put some clear in your mould first, then pour the colours, hope the van is getting fixed by the car wash company, thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx

Resin is amazing, but it does have a mind of its own..lol I know I couldn't believe it, Im just glad he didn't hit us hard enough that we didn't propel forward and hit the car in front of us

Love that maroon color! And love the bowl mold! Not sure the puddle pour works on the bowl mold, maybe a layering effect would work better on that one? The colors are great together, though!

It keeps your powder from flying everywhere and it prevents having powder that isn't mixed in and from having clumps. And if you just add a small amount of resin at first, the powder mixes in even better! How high are the sides of that mold compared to the middle? If they're higher, you could still do a bloom just like the first experiment of mine you did but instead of doing the bloom first and then the sides, do the sides first to make it more even with the middle and then do the bloom!
@resinmeup3 ай бұрын
Hmmm, I have tried both ways and still get mica bubbles.
@hayleymariemills3 ай бұрын
@@resinmeup try mixing the powder into one part first and run that through the machine before you add the second part of resin! Putting the powder in before the resin or into a small amount of resin first fixes clumps but not bubbles

If you put the mica in cup first and mix with a little resin then it doesn't puff up everywhere and then you add all your resin and mix and you have a completely mixed no clumps mixture.

I think they are pretty. I was wondering if the 2 lighter colours would have shown a little more if there was a little clear poured in between each colour. But I like the effect you got with the dish type one. And that maroon is lovely. I need to do so.ething similar with very transparent shades of blues, but a little worried it won't come out as I hope so keep putting it off lol ❤

Mary, I had an idea about this mold after I went to bed. Could you possibly do a ring or 2 of petals for a bloom on just the outside ring first like the outside petals of a flower without doing the center yet until you have the outside built up enough to be a little more flush with the center? And after you do those and they set, THEN do a bloom in the middle? Since the inks and white for blooms sit on top of the resin at the beginning, you could still try a bloom even if it's still above the sides a little bit and maybe with that and the outside blooms, the bowl might possibly look like instead of a flat flower, maybe one that hasn't opened all the way... I'm thinking like a rose is shaped. Maybe as the actual bloom in the middle, do a giant swirl like you do in bloom centers? Then maybe the inside of the bowl will look like the center of a flower and the petals on the outside will look like petals coming up the walls of the bowl? Does any of that make sense or should I send you an email? You make me want to be able to get back to doing this stuff so badly!
@resinmeup3 ай бұрын
Yes email me, I think I get your drift, but I just want to make sure I understand exactly, I think this could work.
