CORRECTION Mike; That was NOT Tamales “with shredded pork inside.” It is actually a dish called “Pasteles,” and you can get it with pork or chicken inside. It’s also made with green bananas or yuca. It has no corn base whatsoever. It’s also great with Hot sauce 😁 I’m glad you enjoyed the food in Puerto Rico, and I encourage you to try a pastel the way it should be eaten and appreciated. It’s quite good. Thank you for visiting PR, and sharing the experience. I was wondering when you might possibly come to Puerto Rico, and you made my day, by watching this video 😍

Guineito en escabeche, mollejas, and my personal favorite which I seriously think is right up your alley, it’s called “Granito”it’s actually rare to find being sold on the street, but it’s white rice, shaped into like a palm sized almond, and then fried, soft white rice on the inside, golden brown on the outside. It feels like a beautiful chain. You're happy to eat at a place where your foodhero Anthony Bourdain has been, for me it would be ultimate to eat there because you AND Anthony have eaten there.
