The Caribbean side of Costa Rica is like a different country. It is indeed like being on a Caribbean island. This is a great example of how diverse Costa Rica is. The Caribbean coast is completely different than the Pacific coast. The northern Caribbean (Tortuguero) is different than the southern Caribbean (Puerto Viejo on down to Panama). The northern Pacific and Nicoya peninsula is different than the southern Pacific. Then you have the central part of the country from north to south. Cloud forests, rainforests, etc. So many different biospheres. All within a country that is only slightly bigger than Denmark and slightly smaller than the state of West Virginia in the United States. It feels much bigger than it actually is. Because of the rugged terrain and the fact that the roads suck 😂.

I think east of Costa Rica is cheaper than the west side and I think it's the same rule in Mexico. Stick to the Caribbean side.

(The colliding currents from the Pacific and the Gulf of California are so strong there that few dare to swim around those panoramic, but extremely dangerous rocks at the "Land's End" southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.)

Great scenery, William! A quick 30-min bus ride away from P.V. is Cahuita, another cool little town with an Afro-Caribbean vibe. There's a beautiful National Park and Playa Negra, a volcanic black sand beach. Your drone footage will be incredible!

Hey William, Puerto Viejo is stunning! Since you love the jungle/trees - then you must check out Gondoca/Manzanillo! It’s about 12 miles south of Puerto Viejo. The bus ride is 7.000 colones. When you get off the bus - keep walking south until you reach the park entrance. It’s free..and please don’t forget your drone! That place will forever live in my heart! 💕🏝 ~Pura Vida 🇨🇷

I should have known you had been to Puerto Viejo. Just 2 trips ago I was in Cabarete but that I had already heard about from you. Puerto Viejo I randomly found on TikTok and booked for 2 weeks.. I think the prices have gone up post COVID pricing. I got 2 weeks just off playa negra in the jungle for $250 per week in a shared jungle house.

It is all the coral in the Caribbean that releases that white sand. That is why the water looks more clearer and blue. You are also closer to the equator that is also why is so lush in vegetation. As always, beautiful video.

The Caribbean side on Costa Rica has been severely underrated as a “go to” place, North Pacific, Guanacaste is way more famous but, that’s the reason also Guanacaste has become so expensive... too many “gringos” so business tend to have “tourists prices there”. And also the food! Is just delicious... the Jamaican influence mixed with Costa Rica’s is just awesome... thank you for showing it.

Others blame the government for abandoning the zone, some years ago there were talks, that Limon province wanted to separate from Costa Rica and form an independent country... its complicated, but yeah, people don’t expect the Caribbean to be so beautiful and cheap.
