Puff Ball mushroom caught my eye.

After nearly a 2-month drought and late summer/early fall rains, the landscape is showing new and fresh (delicious) foraging life. 10/02/24

This is actually the first puff ball that I have found, that was not way past its prime.

I believe that the mushroom takes on the flavors of what it is cooked with. I sliced and fried it in butter with chopped onions and it was delicious.
