This was my favorite game growing up. So atmospheric. I never knew Miyamoto suggested "turn this into a Metroid game" lol reminds me of him saying "make the near complete Dinosaur planet game a Star Fox Game"🤣He's sure one of a kind.

I bet there are so many tales of Miyamoto that we don't know about, steering the development of things with a few choice words :)

I didn't much like FPS games in the early naughties. I was one of the people who let out a collective groan when I saw news that Nintendo was taking the "easy route" to making a 3D Metroid and making it first person. Later a friend described Prime to me as a FPS for people who don't like FPS so I tried it. I still think that description still holds up. It brought the fun and exploration back to the genre.

Metroid Prime really does feel like an anomaly in terms of games with a first person perspective, and I'm surprised the lock-on based system hasn't found its way into more games, to be honest.

I remember my first run, with its 99% scan log at game's end, with one missed boss, unaccounted for. Yeah, that caught me, ah well. Besides oversight on my part, I had a great time exploring Tallon IV back when this game originally released. The only thing that really frustrated me throughout was the colour-coded enemies, which, due to being red/green colour-blind, caused me a few issues (shooting purple enemies with the ice beam). One of my favourite parts in the game was something small and subtle. When I was scanning a terminal, and was met with the Pirates panicked statement along the lines of "She's Here!!"

Ah, I can only imagine how frustrating any game involving the use of specific colours to ascertain required gameplay information can be an absolute nightmare! My favourite terminal is the one explaining the Space Pirates ceasing their efforts at replicating the Morph Ball because it's mangling the test subjects :) These little terminals are easy to miss, but add so much flavour to the game.

I'd imagine your trouble with motion controls boils down to you not having the advanced option enabled. They're a bear without it. Once you turn it on it feels snappy like a mouse on a PC fps.

I played with a friend once the 2nd one in multiplayer, he kicked my butty butt and I was like, ok just 10 bucks for the first prime, I'll give it a try cos of no shitty multiplayer. And oh boy, this game hooked me, with all the music, graphics, environmental storytelling, pretty everything but chozo parts hunting kinda sucks. Anyways i like the first one a lot on cube😃
