Thanks for watching. This Toro commercial mower didn't want to start and run. The original video was to try and get this mower running again but plans changed. The rope decided to break instead so that's the focus of this video. The follow video will tackle the starting problem.

I have a 2013 one of these with a Kawasaki engine, such a great mower. I’d prefer to buy a more expensive mower that I enjoy using and buying loads of cheap ones that I don’t like using

Why are you turning the pulley with the new rope? Have you not seen my pull rope replacement video? Rope needs to be thinner. 4.5 or 5.

I've got a tip for you 😉👌 have you tried priming it well it's easy to get to prime it all you have to do is turn on the throttle cable and tip the lawn Mower forward until it reaches to the spark count to 4 or 5 times and it will work Thank you very much mate I'm Joseph Lama from Auckland New Zealand 🇳🇿 enjoy.

Them Old 2 cycle commercial Suzuki engines are pricey for part's. A brand new carb which are nearly rare cost about $350 new where I'm at..

you could/can get rubber grommets of varying sizes from a high-end stereo store. I'm sure you could get a size that would fit. might even find them at a hardware store

Good video, I would probably use a high quality standard size rope. Probably the reason it is breaking is due to so many pulls to start the engine. If you can get it to start on one or two pulls you probably won't have rope issues. Thanks for great video's.

that rope is a good size in the pulley and no you did not make a mistake as it needs a bit of pulling strength to pull the motor over quicker and the carburetor does sound like it,s gonna need a good cleaning for sure

I would of used what rope rope I had on hand. Those were sp,e good mowers when they were built they really weren't made for the average home owner they were built for commercial companies to use i really don't think the average home owner needs a commercial mower.

I'd try to use the original sized rope and find something to use as a grommet where the rope enters the recoil housing. Something like www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=26574&clickid=related-slider

My pull rope broke and i did not want to go and buy a new rope becouse i was sick. so all i did was i put in some rope that you can use to tie up flowers and it has been fine with that for 5 months! :)

Looks like a normal lawn mower to me so what would be difference between a commercial and a non commercial one, is it because it weighs more that a normal lawn mower?

The deck is thicker and stronger to take daily usage. The engine in this case is a large 2 stoke so no oil changes needed. As for weight i guess a case could be made for more weight the better. Thanks for the comment

Try spot welding a small washer in place of worn eyelet some eyelets you can twist round with pliers

I would have used the proper size rope, but if the larger diameter rope works without chafing or hanging up, you're good. But right from the first several pulls I could tell, the rope might be worn, but that wouldn't prevent the engine from starting unless the the rope is binding somehow between the recoil and flywheel and prventing the flywheel and crank from turning freely. I used to work on golf courses for years and never saw a Toro rotary mower with a 2 cycle Suzuki powerplant. Interesting. Have seen and worked on plenty of 2 cycles, never saw a Suzuki. Check your spark and timing. Check fuel delivery, and carb itself. If all is well, check compression. If low, check your reed valves, and compression release if there is one. Reed valves are tricky little buggers. The old ones can still look and feel fine when out of the mower, but under load they just fail. Best of luck.👍

I would have used the original size but that's due to my inexperience with repairing mowers. I have a 20 year old craftsman mower and my father had a 22 year old Snapper (back in the 80s) until my brother got a hold of it.

It's a Suzuki. The company supplied engines for Toro commercial mowers and domestic snowblowers during that era.
