nice to see that mines a 2022 and it looks like Honda hasnt changed the design. a great idea - if it works, no need to fix it ;)

I watched a video when I did it and the guy had the air box out and everything, I didn’t see the point in it because I was able to reach everything from underneath

@@6.2_vortec I think your way looked better too. Ive looked at mine & have the same plan that you did. Except I see you removed the wheels, And that I can see is a super good idea! thank you

i found another pull install on an older rancher. he did it a bit different than you, but your way looked easier. (?) there must be a few ways to get it done, but keeping it simple is a good way [in my thinking] just thought you might like to see this other way ;)

Have you tried disconnecting the electric starter, or the relay to simulate a starter failure ? I would see if it would work for you if you get stranded and need it, I heard it won’t work the same as like with the kickstarter on the fourtrax 300’s for example. I don’t know though personally

I tested it out with the battery disconnect completely and it took 2 hard pulls

@@6.2_vortec I believe they said if your starter motor fails then the pull start won’t work because it’s connected to the starter clutch, but i again don’t know, but that’s good to know if your battery fails you can pull start it

@@TiffanyBottomsHunter I haven’t tried disconnecting the starter. I would imagine starter failure would be very unlikely but anything is possible. I’ve never heard of it happening though. I may have to try it just to see

@@6.2_vortec Yeah I don’t know, I was looking at installing one if I get a new rancher, but not having a backup option isn’t appealing, I also heard that water can get into that pull start as well, but not necessarily in the engine, again I don’t know myself.

@@TiffanyBottomsHunter it wasn’t ridiculously expensive and I just went ahead and got and installed it for extra security. I hope I don’t need it but I know it works if the battery dies on me at least. I have a 300 and I’d say this pull start is easier to use and more reliable than the kick start being my 300 is next to impossible to kick start
