This episode greatly showcases the subtle development its main characters go through: In season 1, Marinette could barely say a word to Adrien. in this episode, she managed to hold multiple conversations with him while they were alone. As gentil-minou pointed out, the statue scene was actually quite important since it broke the tension between them. To summarize what she said: Marinette was struggling being honest with her feelings because she was nervous around Adrien. She has been thinking about her relationship with Adrien and her inability to confess and talk about her feelings. Meanwhile, Adrien was afraid of her disliking him. He is desperate to be her friend. The idea that they aren’t, that she doesn’t even like him, is devastating to him. To him, friends are even more important to him than a romantic relationship since he was sheltered by his father and without friends for so long. Due to having been sheltered, this whole friend-thing is new to him and he ends up doing things we not-sheltered people know are stupid like he did here. Unfortunately, Marinette had spiraled to the point where she isn’t even sure if she can communicate with him anymore (despite having made major improvements since season one by being able to talk to him in actual coherent words). That’s why she did what she did: She wanted to role-play to prove to herself she can. Not to mention that she is extremely in love with Adrien and though she was safe. That, plus the fact she is a 13-14 year old girl in love, resulted in her acting the most Marinette-like she had in a while: Impulsive, silly, dramatic and displaying how hopelessly in love she was. And after Adrien finally dropped the act, of course she is going to be incredibly ashamed. But also hurt, because Adrien made her feel safe and let out her inner-most emotions by pretending to be a statue for longer than he should have. Adrien understands this. He didn’t get upset with her because he understood she wasn’t doing something to hurt him. He recognizes he was also at fault here and rightfully apologizes. And he tries to comfort and reassure her. He moves past her embarrassing antics because he is an incredibly empathetic and wants to help Marinette, the person he wants to be his friend. And then they actually sit down and talk it through. Something a lot of people, even adults, struggle with. And in the end, them talking about it, facing their fears, made their bond stronger.

I think the reason you see the creator Thomas appear so much this season is because season 3 was essentially the season his show became popular world wide, seriously this show blew up in over 120 different countries and that number continues to grow! but because he does not own the rights to his own show, this would mean ZAG Studios would claim full control and ownership of the show once he and his teams contracts ended in season 5 so time was of the essence and he needed to leave his mark as much as possible before he lost his show to the studio he works for, thankfully he and his teams contracts were renewed .

Puppeteer 2 is one of my favorites episodes. I even loved the team work between Cat Noir and Ladybug. One of the rare episodes where the writers actually bothered giving Cat Noir a partner role instead of dumping him down just to let Ladybug shine. It also shed light on how Adrien feels in social gatherings and how his friends are blind to his struggles. Poor Adrien wanted so bad to spend time with his friends and in the room they all ditched him and he thought Marinette hates him / angry with him. Marinette actually told him he’s not a good friend to her. Nino told him they didn’t come here to spend time with him. Nino told him Marinette doesn’t want to stay alone with him and then when she is alone with him she acts like she doesn’t want to be there and ditched him too. They completely threw Adrien’s desires under the bus and hurt him and all they thought about was Marinette and how to help her get what she wants. They didn’t mean to hurt him at all but they did and were completely blind to the consequences of their actions. Adrien felt extremely guilty too when he did nothing wrong. We got to understand the social pressure Adrien feels and how his inexperience makes him feel insecure. When he told Marinette “ I have been with you guys for months and I still don’t know how to be a good friend “ The poor guy thinks it’s always his fault because he’s the one who doesn’t know much about social life so he blames himself anyway even when it’s not his fault and even when he’s the one being wronged.

Poor Adrien wanted so bad to spend time with his friends and in the room they all ditched him and he thought Marinette hates him / angry with him. Marinette actually told him he’s not a good friend to her. Nino telling him they didn’t come here to spend time with him. Nino told him Marinette doesn’t want to stay alone with him and then when she is alone with him she acts like she doesn’t want to be there and ditched him too. Seriously, all of them treated Adrien in a bad way even if they didn’t mean to hurt him they still did hurt him because they turned a day about Adrien finally spending time with his friends into a day about Marinette confessing but she didn’t confess and all Adrien’s friends ditched him and he blamed himself for it thinking he’s a bad friend. Poor Adrien didn’t deserve any of this.

I remember back in the day before I was married I about kung fu’d this wax statue before it sinking in that it was made out of wax and not a real person on a friend date with this guy I really liked but we weren’t cannon and we later on married other people I still love that guy he’s amazing and is a great friend.

@@tohsmvc No there is no suprise. If you mean season 5 then we already know she came back to him from the spoilers. She may move on for like 5 episodes. Like she did in Season 4. She won't ever move on.

A lot of people hate on Marinette for the statue scene this episode and I'm surprised you didn't as well because from your past reactions you seemed like the kind of person who would but I'm glad you didn't because if you look at the scene, Marinette came out of the bathroom telling herself she's super cool and when she saw what appeared to be a statue of Adrien, she saw the perfect opportunity to practice being super cool around him so she took it. When she found out that it was the real Adrien, she felt really embarrassed and apologized to Adrien by the end of the episode. Regarding the remaining episodes of the season, prepare yourself for a bumpy ride especially for the next episode. Regarding season 4, it's going to be an emotional rollercoaster where both our main protagonists will suffer. You should probably pair these episodes together: 1. Truth & Lies 2. Sole Crusher & Queen Banana 3. Optigami & Sentibubbler 4. Risk & Strikeback

@@FeligamiAdrizoeSworaDooplivian All she was doing was practicing to talk normally around Adrien. If she had made the statue herself or took it home with her that would have been creepy (that is if the statue was a statue). But no she just happened to find it there and saw it is a perfect way to practice keeping her cool. When she found out it was Adrien, she saw how cringey she came across to Adrien and hated herself for acting that way just like that girl from Turning Red Zamber gave us a clip of and not Adrien. At the end of the episode she actually apologized to Adrien even though it wasn't her fault since she had no way of knowing that the statue was the real Adrien and if she did, she would've never invaded his personal space like that. Once again, just like in "Ikari Gozen", the problem was that Marinette didn't know, not that she didn't understand.

@@FeligamiAdrizoeSworaDooplivian Maybe you may not be able to relate to having a lot of responsibility on your shoulders at a young age, being bullied for 4 years with no one in your class bothering to stand up for you, developing a low self-esteem and clinical anxiety from that bullying which causes you to try to control every possible outcome when something is important to you (such as confessing to your crush) and having PTSD but there are many people out there including me who identify with her in some of those aspects and therefore an insult to her feels like an insult to us and behaviour like Marinette's doesn't require her to be yelled at because that would make her anxiety even worse, it requires a soft, kind and patient voice to treat her which is why Tikki is her kwami.

That scene of Marinette molesting Adrien.... no. Just fuck no. I hate every single bit of it. It was cringe, uncomfortable, and flat out disgusting to witness. This broke me and I don't know how anyone could endorse it or think it's fine in any way.
