For everyone mentioning the dumping of coolant. If you look back to my videos putting the car together you would see that I used distilled water. Not coolant.

hey Taylor just wanted to swoop in from the LZ channel to congratulate you on the Vette and offer some advice from a former Vette driver. My dad had a '04 z06 lemans edition. it had the LS6 engine in it. 1. Corvettes from this era had build quality issues, MAKE SURE it has had all it's recalls done. 2. They train track really bad, you're going to end up driving with your left wheels on the center line so you are straddling the inner tire groove on the road. 3. Sorry to tell you but they don't drift really well, they are designed for maximum straight line grip for drag racing. Corvettes tend to have binary grip, they are known as cars that are difficult to tame. When the rear tires break free you just spin off the road, because they have so much rear tire grip you gotta really throw it around to break em free or just really lay on the power from the LS and in both cases you have much less control going into the slide than a japanese car. also did you price out Vette tires? they are very expensive and you'll blow through them like nothing once you figure out how to drift that beast 4. Corvettes make absolutely outstanding road race cars with minimal modification, they humiliate cars that cost 3 times as much. You eat people alive in the straight aways. 5. With a little money you can really turn a vette into a total monster of a street rod. Superchargers, Nitrus, everything goes on the LS. 6. my dad's z06 was electrically governed at 187 but the gears would go to 200, check your gears on your model, throw some race fuel in it and join the 200 mph club if you can:) 7. that stupid little shift thingy throws you from 1st to 4th if it senses you have enough power to do it, its a fuel saving thingy they put in corvette trannys to stay under some stupid fuel consumption quota. The very first thing my dad did to his Vette was buy a little chip you plug into the tranny and it turns off that stupid shift gate, but the little red indicator light still blips when you can go to 4th so you can go to 2nd or 4th if you wish. 8. they tell you about the two levels of traction control: on or off, but they don't tell you about the secret traction mode called "competitive driving mode". its not in any official corvette literature:) i believe you hold down the traction button for 10 seconds and it flashes "competitive driving" but I'm not sure, you'll have to look it up. competitive driving lets you hang the rear end out but it won't let you slide off the road and die, its soooooooooooooooo fun.

Label EVERYTHING. use some masking tape, or even a tag on a zip tie. Also take lots of pictures every step of the way. As for bolts, take a piece of cardboard and stab each bolt into the cardboard and write where it belongs on the board.

Have the new head, block and crank been inspected by a machine shop to ensure everything is in spec? I know you trust the guy you got the parts from, but this would be a simple way to ensure that everything is correct before you start assembly of the motor.

On my Miata Every so hundred miles I notice I lose out on oil maybe like quart. I already replaced the o ring for cas sensor cause mine was really bad and leaky. And I'm still losing oil but it doesn't hit the floor and doesn't have any smoke :/ any tips? Every now n then I have to add more oil. Still pretty new to working on cars too and I was lucky to pick up this Miata up on my own. Love the vids keep up the good work!!!

Hey Taylor I was watching your video on the tear down of the old motor and got to wondering did you file the rings to compensate for the turbo? If you don't just like with nitrous the extra heat from the intensified combustion can cause the rings to butt together from expansion and bust out the top of the pistons. looks like exactly what happened.

Be careful with the oven cleaner on any aluminum bits. It's usually got sodium hydroxide in it, so it'll matte and darken the aluminum. Coin-op car wash worked wonders for me when I wanted to clean my S14 engine bay :D

no matter how well you clean the motor if you don't do a bigger gap one the rings the motor will keep popping the tops off the pistons. with boost your building more heat on the rings when they expand they cease up in the cylinder because they have nowhere to go and crack the pistons and with a bigger gap it will not happen because the rings have a place to expand to. the same thing happens if you put to much NOS to a motor boom cracked pistons. if you build any motor for boost or NOS you need to enlarge the gap on the rings to prevent the rings from ceasing up in the cylinder
