Pulsar Thermion 2 PRO Shoot Out - Which is Best in the Real World XP50 PRO or XQ50 PRO

Pro Staffer Danny owns a Thermion 2 XP50 PRO, but has a XQ50 PRO on loan as part of his Pro Staff program and really rather likes it so has put together this side by side shoot off to see if the extra mag on the XQ50 PRO wins out over the high resolution of the XP50 PRO

Xq50 on 3 mag with pip is perfect the xp50 on 2 mag x4 on pip doesn't cut it for me🤷I've got the helion xf 38 and xp50 pro, pro amazing but I reach for the xf mostly pro seems to sharp on my eyes, think that's why I like xq50 easier on the eye

At 12x & it is distorting, will fron focus clear it up

Very good. Do these scopes have ballistic calculation like ATN Thor 4?

The LRF models have a built in range finder similar to the ABL but better. These blow the ATN out of the water. I have the ATN and my buddy has the pulsar and his is incredible compared to mine. Mine is also only a 384 though.

on a 2 time mag you have a 6x40x 480 as soon as you zoom to 6x mag your now looking at a 320 i carnt shoot on 2x so i would buy the xq50

Thats the dilemma many face, However the XP looks better at 8x than the XQ does on 6x

shoot using picture in picture ... it's rather easy. And using the scale-able reticles is very nice !

run scope at base mag, use a scaleable reticle, open PIP, zoom it to 8x or 16x and the scaleable reticle will run your mildot holds. Fast and easy way to shoot to 4-500 meters if needed.

Wonder if it's worth the extra Thousands to get the xp as most shots 4 me would be under 300mt for hogs and foxes

hi at that range the XQ would be fine, what you will get with the XP and its 640x480 sub 25Mk sensor is all the surrounding detail in the image in the background and forgound plus way more detail.

the low base mag is killing XP50... as soon as you zoom in - it loses any advantage over much cheaper XQ ... and zoom in you must - unless you going driven hun (with a digital scope that freezes for calibration from time to time). I dont understand why Pulsar doing this to them selves, because all large sensor Pulsars (base mag x2.0) looks like a joke compared to large sensor competitors on x3- x3.5 base mags

hi, that's where the Thermion 2 LRF XG50 comes in to play with a 640 sensor, giving a base mag of x3.0 x6.0 in PiP its the perfect combination.
