I am tall runner with normal weight and relatively normal running technique. And I can say, that this outsole is holding up better then any other I tried in the last 10 years ( perhaps 30-40 Shoes ) Its amazing, and i used it a lot on gravel and easy trails as well. Amazing shoe! Canadian living in Germany for several years, and never considered Puma until this year, and am truly impressed with their entire lineup, but the Deviate 2 really is tremondous. I have run in every lineup (except the Saucony shoes), and this is better than all I have tried for a great price - same here, get the discounts on the colorways that aren't popular. Same shoe, different color. I now run in the Deviate 2, the Velocity 2, the Liberate 2, and the Magnify 2. Fantastic shoes, all of them. Puma is still old school with most of their shoes, with great tech in there, but not as the main selling point. Love that.😊

I've got ~100 miles as well in the Deviate Nitro 2 and can attest that it's a great shoe. It really is the prototypical modern "super" daily trainer. If you're used to current gen race super shoes it will give you a great cush + assistive feel you might expect. And if you're newer to plated and premium foam shoes it will blow you away. It's that good for a trainer. I use a Prime X for my 10 + mile runs because I'm old (43) and the leg saving properties of that shoe are unmatched. But for my daily 10km at pace, easy or intervals this thing is ideal. Awesome outsole, great foam combo with mostly super foam, and perfect cushy daily trainer-esq upper. Amazing shoe that I'll be putting even more of my miles in the Canadian winter with that Puma grip. Solid A- shoe.

Excellent shoe for intervals, tempo, 5k-10k, and basically any run you want to pick up the pace. I find it not so good when running slower paces (aka easy and daily training) as the plate is a bit too much for my shins and the shoe is on the heavier side. But nevertheless, it's my 2nd favorite Puma shoe (Forever run nitro is the 1st). Stable despite being a fast shoe, nice energy return, but the best part is the awesome Puma Grip outsole. @@lukaszpowalowski8342 the grip is stellar, even in rain. Another happy runner with this shoe. I would go as far as to say, this outsole is magical. It seriously reminds me of my merrell moab 3 which I wear as daily shoe using the vibram outsole for serious outdoor demands. The traction is just that good. In some other runing shoes I find that I need to keep a slight watch of my form espeically on slippery surfaces. It's sort of like a backend process of windows that eats up a bit of your memory for mostly nothing. And causing extra strain for my leg muscles. With this shoe there is not a single moment of such worry so my lower body and leg muscles are extremely loose and relax and it helped me to run way more efficient. The grip is that good. As for the shoe itself I'd say this is about as close we can get to the benchmamrk ES3. It is about the same soft and bouncy, natural, but effortless ride. Maybe even slightly more cushioned and more plush than ES3. Basically everything you feel with ES3 is present here. The difference is obviously this is not as light and nimble,. But in a trade off this has a much better upper in my opinion. On typical ES3 you don't feel anything special. But this upper really hug tight like a good sock while not being painfully tight. For nomal person you'd be happy to use this everyday. For me I'm happy that I don't have to keep stocking up ES3 after I retire one pair coz there are just as many good alternatives out there.

I just took them on a half marathon and liked them.

Its a very good shoe: Could train and race up to halfmarathon for me. Can do it all, except for bottoming out at longruns for me. Gets unforgiving after 18-20 km. So not marathon trainer or racer for me. Another negative, gravel gets stuck in cutout in outsole.

I just got hold of a brand new pair for £44! I have been steering towards non-plated shoes for daily training recently, but at this price, I just couldn't resist 😅

This shoe is the real deal guys, maybe not so much for speedwork but for daily miles and Long Steady Efforts I don't want to run in anything else... period!

I've heard a lot of great things about the Puma Velocity Nitro 2. Have you tried it? How do you think the two shoes compare? Would a comparison video be worthwhile?
@davidmcquade47439 ай бұрын
I just bought this shoe for $40 at Ross and the Velocity Nitro 2 for 40. Guess I’m rocking a Puma rotation.

I really wish Puma made their shoes in 12.5 (like I wear in every other brand). I bought a pair of Velocity Nitro 2s in a 12 several months back and they were too small, but felt like the 13s would be too big. I feel like these shoes would do well for me...if they made my size!

Same here! Although I'll just stick to speed 3. Just perfect all around for me. Hope they go on sale soon.

If you live near a puma outlet, they’re 30% off in there. Then nitro elite is also on sale in there.

No contest. The Mach X costs AND weighs considerably more than the Puma DN2. Might not be in the same league as a true super shoe, but at litteraly less than half the price, it's a solid option for an amateur.

Just picked up the 🔥 colourway from a local Puma outlet for £50. Looking forward them to use them on wet tarmac. My Speed 3 feel a little bit dangerous going at pace on the roads.

I totally agree with you, Kofuzi. Puma has done a great job with Deviate Nitro 2. Hopefully the third iteration will be even better.

I am slow so don't buy fast shoes or super shoes because I am not there yet in terms of seeing performance gains, so I appreciate the mention of this being an option for race day. I'm trying to calibrate what type of runner would this be a race day pick for. In your opinion, could this be a race shoe for a slow half-marathoner? Say two hour type of half marathon on road?
@fiatlux8828 Жыл бұрын
This is perfect for that pace. It's comfortable and stable enough at slower paces but you can pick up the pace in them if needed. I ran my first half in these and they were great.
@Ouga_Official Жыл бұрын
Thank you@@fiatlux8828 , I have been eyeing the puma x Ciele collab on this shoe
@wordsovsean8905 Жыл бұрын
These would absolutely work for that pace. I used them for my first and only (so far) half marathon and they were great. I did 1:35 in that race, but when doing my general runs I certainly do plenty that are at 5 minutes or under. These cruise along nicely at that pace. The DN2 are very good for holding a steady pace and are cushioned enough to plod in too. My wife's friend is just getting into running and she picked up a pair. She just did a 14km race in them yesterday and did really well, I think at about 5:20 per km pace. She loves them and I'd say she rarely runs above 5 minutes per km pace.
@meancheeto Жыл бұрын
That's a good pace, imo. I consider myself a slow runner as well. I just ordered these for my long runs. I have been running in pegasus turbo from pegasus 39 and been looking to purchase a better cushioned and plated shoe. I ran my last half in 1:43 but felt like I needed more cushion

I just bought the Puma x Ciele version and OMG they are beautiful! I paid full price for these ones because they are so special but I already love them, so next year when I retire on of my shoes, I will be a discounted pair (here in the UK, they are always on sale)

Bought these to replace my Speed 2's but sent them back due to my heel slipping no matter how I tied them!
